News Round Up 2020

I think Birds of Prey might have also cut off a large chunk of it's fan base by the R rating. I don't think every movie needs to be PG-13, but if I had to guess I think they lost some money due to the R.

i did read that too - and that specifically for Harley being someone a lot of younger teen girls responded/connected to and unless their parents let them see an R rated movie they were cut off

Crap
$75 increase on the Platinum Pass ..sigh .. that eats up the AP discount at AOA I have booked and was going to use by getting my daughter the AP (since she is the only one without tickets).. I may just ditch that ..and get my daughter regular tickets for two upcoming potential trips. I had pretty much felt the discounts plus the memory maker .. plus the free parking was going to be made up with the new higher cost .... but the NEW NEW higher cost? Just tougher and tougher to make that call.

I feel we used to have a few day notice on the rumor mill on price increases. Not anymore? Coulda shoulda woulda - I knew a price increase was coming soon .. just didn't want to pull the trigger 5 months before a trip :(.

Well no rush to get the AP now.

Any R Rated movie cuts off some of the fanbase. But Harley Quinn is supposed to be intense and violent. Her show on DC Universe is very adult. I'm not sure that is the problem so much as WB simply didn't market the film correctly. But I could be wrong. A lot of DC is a darker universe. I've always kind of wondered why they didn't take the Universal Studios tactic of "when your vacation grows up" and do something similar with DC compared to Marvel. You still have to release good movies, an issue DC seems to have, but I think it would be an interesting tactic.

Hey @tlmadden73 - Look on Sams or Tickets at Work now. That's what we did last increase. They are allowed to sell out of the ones they have at the old price. When you buy an AP now, it is a "voucher" that can be used until 12/31/2030. We did this last June after the increase and I won't be activating my new AP until this Friday. They were kind of hard to find on both of those sites. I had to search for annual pass instead of just clicking through to Disney tickets. You get an email with the activation code and can put that in MDE. This is what mine looks like now on my MDE account.

Was going to post this on the Rise of Skywalker discussion thread but I see where it has been closed.

Finally rode Rise Sunday. Quite a ride, but getting there was a challenge.

650 at the gates. Let in at 7. Waited at Slink until 8. Got group 103. On at 6:50.

Exactly 12 hours after arrival.

I will do that .. I dont have a Sams Club membership ..but I can access Tickets at Work from work.

Just wondering if their prices are cheaper than just using Disney Gift Cards purchased with the Red Card .. for that 5% discount. That may be about a wash -- since 5% off the new price is minus $65 -- (which is just slightly more than the increase). So .. I can basically negate the price increase just by buying my gift cards from Target first. *shrug*

And this is why I told my family and roommate to buy their tickets before February. Did any of them listen to me? NOPE!

I was just thinking to myself that I should approach DH to say we should buy APs to activate later before the price increase. Did I listen to myself? NOPE 🙄
