Yes, there have been success stories on this thread of people getting a BG on WiFi. Of that was your one and only phone attempting to get a BG, I’d be worried for you. But as a supplemental phone, that should be okay.
Yeah, on home Wi-Fi and DBF is streaming something lol. My data is throttled until tomorrow because I used too much last week when I got a new phone, just for RotR (I needed a new phone anyway, RotR just gave me the nudge to bite the bullet).

DD16 will be on an iPhone 7, my new phone is an LG Stylo 5. We're going to be there Sunday March 22, so it'll be super busy but it can't be helped *shrug*

I'm thinking of upping our data plan just prior to the trip, and DD's dad will be helping try from home too, so fingers crossed!

So, practice session today for me and DS11. I have Galaxy S7, DS iPhone 6S. I was able to go through practice run several times to seemingly get a good BG. DS could never get anything to toggle after the Find Out More. Back and forth, My Status, nothing. Could not even get to pick the party....which I could do about 5 or 6 times. So, we need to check his app version and see if can update with the new patch. We will also have DW and DS15 on our day also, but they slept in today. I wasn't timing exactly when I got the message that distribution was complete and when my options were no longer clickable. According to atomic click app (which is in sync also with time.gov BTW), DS11's iPhone was perfectly in sync, my phone clock is currently behind by 286 milliseconds (it has varied in the past to even being ahead at one point and being behind my over 600 milliseconds).
Re: DS11's iPhone 6S, it DOES have the latest update, although when he first opened the app, it was slow loading graphics and we needed to sign him in. He obviously hasn't used the app in a while, so maybe it needed to "wake up from hibernation" and then glitched out?? Idk. But again, we will have 4 phone's going when we're there. We gave all the kids the disclaimer that we might not be able to ride at all, but that we still might. Temper the expectations. Be happy with what we can do!😀

Wanted to post my experience from yesterday. Got boarding group 88. Could not get the join boarding group to turn red at first despite having little issue at home. No signal that I was a part of a back up boarding group. Waited all day and was lucky to be called at 7:40pm. They called up to 90 by park closing so no release. We had to wait it out until nearly park close. There was a long delay at around 0830 for about an hour. Snacks were handed out but I was able to get on and off by 0950. Luckily we found a friendship boat willing to take us back to the swan and dolphin. Otherwise we would have had to walk. Great ride! Just different experience then what I’ve read here with BGs being called up until park close.

Are Sundays harder than other days due to EMH? Seems like a new record today with all BGs gone in 68 seconds...?

It’s also a holiday weekend but it does seem that things have changed. I’ve been following this thread and doing some practicing from home the last couple of weeks (iPhone XR) since I’ll be leaving for WDW Thursday. Am not feeling as confident about getting a BG as I was a few days ago! If I make it to HS in time after the 5K Friday, I’ll have three shots at a BG so hopefully one will work out!

All BGs being gone in 60’ish seconds has been happening since Friday, FYI.
I thought it was 75 seconds Friday... and 68 was the new low. I guess it’s all about the same. If you don’t get a BG in the 1st minute, you’re done. Friday was the 1st day that I couldn’t get the button to turn red from home...

I hope things ease up when we’re there on a Sunday in late April!!

Practicing from home. Opened app at 7:59:30, waited until 8:00:00 on the nose to click the picture. The button was red right away. I was able to go back and forth to “join a boarding group” like 7 or 8 times and selecting all of our party, and at 8:00:53 it was doing backup groups. Was able to click back and forth a few more times until 8:01:15 (ish) until they were all gone.

way different than the other day. I loaded the app at like 7:59:00, clicked on the picture at 7:59:45 and the button never turned red. And when I tried refreshing through my status it just kept saying the park was closed. When I finally got SOMETHING to happen, they were already in backup groups

interesting though. I’m really curious what BG I would have gotten today if I was able to reload it that many times

I don’t think it’s really possible (or practical) to nail it down to the second. My own testing was more like 80 seconds today, others reported far less. I think there’s a lot of variability in our experiences based on our clock source, devices, and whatever server we happen to be connected to at any given moment.

I’m personally more focused on the approximate minute timing vs being super specific to the second just given the variability I’ve seen in the reports, for whatever that is worth.

Everything is going so fast now and I am wondering if the crowds are just higher. Has anyone been more than once over the last few months and seen a crowd difference? Alternatively, how far back are the rope drop lines going?

What is the general consensus with regards to waiting it out during a downtime? Is it more likely to go down again with the first few rides right after? I’m not sure if we should keep waiting or come back in the afternoon. It usually goes down about two hours in from what I’ve seen on this thread, not 45 minutes, so I’m not sure...

Nobody can answer this - we don’t have data on people in the park. Any answer you receive will be anecdotal based on how it “felt” to that person. And Disney has also adjusted where they held people on various days, there isn’t always consistency. Show up before the park opens and hope your fingers are fast enough - that’s really all that you can do.

I cant imagine the crowds now being higher than Christmas. I think it's just that more people now know the way to get a BG.

I think the notion that as long as you’re in the park before opening and no tech issues, you’ll get a bg of some kind is shot. Lots of complaints on other forums of not getting one the last couple of days. I’m hoping against hope they change the hours for mid-late March. 9am is going to be even worse I think.

Also Christmas weeks hours were longer.
