Do any of my experts know a way to purchase a physical Amazon gift card online? The last time I looked at my local Fry's, which is where I normally buy them, they were out. I need one for our coloring contest prize but I don't want to be running to different stores right now.

You should be able to buy one and print it out because my mom's done that for my birthday before.

Another one bites the dust. The family vacation to Aulani and Disneyland is officially cancelled. After discussing a multitude of scenarios the next few months may hold, the family consensus was to cancel. On the up side, this allowed me to bank 2019 DVC points into the next UY as my banking window ends this month. Borrowed points were also put into the UY they were borrowed from by DVC which was nice. I have until mid July to see if I will get to use my banked points before the end of August or dump them into RCI.

My FN cert from BonBlah was put back into my account after some struggle. I highly advise any BonBlah FN cert cancellations be done over the phone and watching to make sure the FN goes back into your account. I've had issues multiple times. Now I just do it over the phone and while I'm logged in and looking at the account. As for the flights, it looks like I will be playing chicken with AA and UA. I don't want to pay re-deposit fees on miles so I will just wait them out and hope for a significant scheduled departure time change or outright cancellation on their end.

This makes it trip number 5 cancelled for this year. Next one in line is Vero Beach next month for Memorial Weekend. Lets see how that shakes out.
For the AA flights, you might be able to re-deposit the miles now without paying a fee. I was just able to yesterday for a late June flight that had not been significantly rescheduled. Might be worth a call.

Can't you order one from Amazon to be shipped to you? I know you could in the past but maybe they are sold out, like they are of everything else :(

For those of you stuck at home with your spouse, significant other, children, etc. and are perhaps finding yourselves a little at odds with each other, I would like to offer a bit of advice....take this added time to dream together. Dream about your future travels, life plans, even your favorite meal to cook together.

My dh was WFH for three weeks. He spent most of his work time at his desk but spent lunch, breaks and a few extra minutes here and there with me, talking about many, many things; where we wanted to retire, the cruises and trips we would go on, where we would eat once the restaurants opened. Even our old record collection was a topic of discussion.

On Palm Sunday we walked out into our field, hand in hand just for some fresh air. One thing led to another, and pretty soon we had a few yard tools and were trimming around the sapling trees that were planted a few years back. These trees were a GREAT joy to him! After consuming lunch out in the field, a pbj and a can of ginger ale (his favorites, and which he was totally thankful for) we continued on with our work. Shortly thereafter he collapsed of a fatal heart attack. It was a quick passing with no suffering.

In all bad you must look for the good. Had I not lost my job last August I most likely would not have been out in the field with him. Had this stupid virus not permeated our world we would not have spent so much time together recently. In his death I am so grateful it was a quick passing and he was in a place he loved, doing something he loved. And in the BEST of it all, he died with a power tool in his hand. That would please him immensely!

I write this not to bring the mood down or to clog the thread with sympathy posts. I write it 1) for a little cathartic release, 2) a reminder for everyone to embrace every situation you are in, good or bad, and 3) churning advice for points, miles, FNC etc of a deceased P2.

Sending my condolences to you at this time. :grouphug: I am so glad that you were able to spend that special time with your husband. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and providing perspective at this time.

Not sure. When I go to Amazon and look for physical Amazon gift cards, it just refers me to different retailers, all bricks and mortar.

I'll look for the printout as @afan suggested.
Is it a timing thing getting it shipped? I did Gift Cards from the menu, Physical Cards and get this page
https://www.amazon.com/s?i=gift-car...-3&pf_rd_t=1201&ref=mh_s9_acss_cg_egift_2a1_w
It's a terrible link but should send you to the physical GCs. But earliest delivery is showing Saturday for most (if not all) for me.

Oh!

I didn't even see those. Glad I asked! Thank you! I was able to get one with pretty flowers that doesn't cost extra for the "wrapping"!

Saturday is fine. It's for a contest winner :)

I have splurged on some things from Walmart with my stimulus money...

- 24 ct AA batteries

- new rechargeable wii battery packs (my daughter and I enjoy playing Mario kart)

- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2 (we don’t have these and need them to complete our HP marathon in a few days).

And the fact that this $55 purchase was “splurging” probably tells you a lot about how cheap I am 🤣

You take the cake, my friend, as the king of cheapness! We bought an air hockey table and a 65" tv and spent about $800'ish.

damn, i thought id be part of the first wave for the stimulus check but it turns out if i didnt owe or pay anything, IRS doesnt have your bank account into even though my DD is listed in the tax return. :\

There is supposed to be a new website capability to enter your banking into for the IRS. I think you find it along the path to checking on where your stimulus check is, in the process. JUST MAKE SURE YOU'RE ACTUALLY ON THE IRS SITE. Should be secured and prolly something like irs.gov

ETA: Just go to irs.gov (should show secured) and both are on the first page

I am sorry that you had to cancel Aulani..... I hope that you are able to go to Vero next month. I have been thinking about our November trip and hoping we still go. I have never put points into RCI
What is the deadline to do that?

DSW has 40% off - I splurged on new shoes for everyone in my household!

So, I won't be bored for the next few days. With the help of a friend, I managed to get my wish list almost filled.

i have multiple areas available for small time gardening and I'm ready to start creating baby plants from these seeds. I'm actually a little late as I could have started stuff indoors as early as late February for our season.
The parsley, cilantro, basil, oregano and rosemary will go in my deck planter, a costco purchase from a couple of years back that is table height and easy to work with. It's already filled with soil and just needs some plant food to make it viable again.

The tomatos and cucumbers will go against my wire fence where there is lots of sunlight and can be supported.

My peppers will share my raised bed in with the already existing blueberry bushes.

The nasturtiums and violas will share space in a small space of sunlight against my deck that already is a flower bed.

The squash, cantaloupe and pumpkins will go on the hill in the back near the garden hose and the fruit trees and hopefully won't get eaten by deer. I'm not sure this will be a success other than the squash which grow like weeds.

The catnip will go in a pot. The lavender doesn't have a spot yet but maybe near the wall of my patio.

And, I bought all this stuff by giving my friend some Home Depot gift cards from my Amex MR's!! That's the churning twist in all this. I still need to get some other stuff delivered, like mulch and weed and feed. I have a $$$ order to put in shortly to maximize the delivery fee. Thankful for my MR's right now but won't have many left very soon.

In another twist, some of the plants will be started in the garden beds, and some of them will be started in paper coffee cups that I grab from my hotel rooms - I have enough to do many little starter plants. Once I get the plants started, I will give some to a few people close to me that already have beds that can take them.
