I got my SW bonus from the 12/31-2/28 promotion yesterday! 20k RR into my account. Yay!!! My DH also rec'd his, 2500 RR in his account.
I am sorry that you had to cancel Aulani..... I hope that you are able to go to Vero next month. I have been thinking about our November trip and hoping we still go. I have never put points into RCI
What is the deadline to do that?
Oh no....there are no words to express my sympathy to you right now..... I'm so so sorry about your husband.... You expressed all of this beautifully,my heart and prayers are with you in this time of sadness. For those of you stuck at home with your spouse, significant other, children, etc. and are perhaps finding yourselves a little at odds with each other, I would like to offer a bit of advice....take this added time to dream together. Dream about your future travels, life plans, even your favorite meal to cook together.
My dh was WFH for three weeks. He spent most of his work time at his desk but spent lunch, breaks and a few extra minutes here and there with me, talking about many, many things; where we wanted to retire, the cruises and trips we would go on, where we would eat once the restaurants opened. Even our old record collection was a topic of discussion.
On Palm Sunday we walked out into our field, hand in hand just for some fresh air. One thing led to another, and pretty soon we had a few yard tools and were trimming around the sapling trees that were planted a few years back. These trees were a GREAT joy to him! After consuming lunch out in the field, a pbj and a can of ginger ale (his favorites, and which he was totally thankful for) we continued on with our work. Shortly thereafter he collapsed of a fatal heart attack. It was a quick passing with no suffering.
In all bad you must look for the good. Had I not lost my job last August I most likely would not have been out in the field with him. Had this stupid virus not permeated our world we would not have spent so much time together recently. In his death I am so grateful it was a quick passing and he was in a place he loved, doing something he loved. And in the BEST of it all, he died with a power tool in his hand. That would please him immensely!
I write this not to bring the mood down or to clog the thread with sympathy posts. I write it 1) for a little cathartic release, 2) a reminder for everyone to embrace every situation you are in, good or bad, and 3) churning advice for points, miles, FNC etc of a deceased P2.
My splurge has been buying my kids clothes from Old Navy online using a gift card I bought through Swagbucks before the big q started. ($100 but didn’t pay that much of course) Might also do the same with a JCP gc I have and a happy (bride) gc since I was reminded on the gc thread that JCP might not survive for long. Only other splurge possible, been considering buying a cornhole game for the yard for when it warms up. I think I line up on the cheap side. Been thinking about that cornhole game for a long time. Not that it matters now with the weather being so cold and windy!
I am so very sorry for your loss. I will be praying for comfort. Thank you for the reminder about embracing our situations. Tomorrow is never guaranteed, and each day is a gift and an opportunity to care for others. I see that others have offered great advice on the churning issue. When my husband died, we were not into churning so there wasn't much to do in that regard. The only issue I faced was when someone fraudulently used his Sears card. I don't know how they did it, but it was a pain to deal with. So, keep an eye out for fraud. For those of you stuck at home with your spouse, significant other, children, etc. and are perhaps finding yourselves a little at odds with each other, I would like to offer a bit of advice....take this added time to dream together. I would do that too! A trip to NYC to see a Broadway show or two is something I want to do again and if we get an extra 2 years of use added that might be a good option. Alternatively, for me if I don’t go before they expire one of my kids might go to Disney and use them. For now, I am holding on to two reservations and hoping we will go for at least one of them.Me too, thanks. I promised the family a future family vacation to be booked once things are settled and everyone's situations are back to normal. I've never done it either. I think the deadline to use the points in RCI without restrictions is 45 days before the end of your Use Year. You can still deposit them up to 14 days before the end of your Use Year but then they are severely restricted from what I am reading if you do that. I took a peek in RCI to see what some of the options look like. Availability seems to be a factor at most places I checked. I imagine there's a learning curve to understand what I might want to book and when. For that I would check out TUG forums to gain some understanding. I did see that The Manhattan Club in NYC was an option. We stayed there ABD a few years ago and loved it! I would happily book that for a weekend or two in New York and save my FN certs for something else. I'm sure there are plenty of other places we could visit via the RCI exchange over two years. It's not what I would want to do with my points, but certainly better than losing them.
Uh oh, I still have a gift card from Christmas time. I am going to look and use it online.JC Penney just missed a loan payment, so might wanna get shopping
Same. We paid in last year and haven't filed this year.damn, i thought id be part of the first wave for the stimulus check but it turns out if i didnt owe or pay anything, IRS doesnt have your bank account into even though my DD is listed in the tax return. :\
I can get to the part to put in info but the message I get is either "we can't determine your eligibility" or "you've accessed this page too many times and must wait 24 hours". We are eligible. I wouldn't access the page so many times if it worked in the first place (was not fully functioning yesterday) and/or gave more info. Like, how do I tell you I am eligible?!There is supposed to be a new website capability to enter your banking into for the IRS. I think you find it along the path to checking on where your stimulus check is, in the process. JUST MAKE SURE YOU'RE ACTUALLY ON THE IRS SITE. Should be secured and prolly something like irs.gov
ETA: Just go to irs.gov (should show secured) and both are on the first page
Same. We paid in last year and haven't filed this year.

Same, on both comments! So annoying.Same. We paid in last year and haven't filed this year.

No, the eligibility message comes after the 3 dots. You have to get past the three dots before you can enter any info. The lady on the news (Susan Hogan, NBC 4) said something about waiting (and not to refresh the page). The "progression of dots" she thought could go on for a real long time, but she claimed it would finally get to you. Hope this helps
Romeo & Juliet is now out of my life! Quiz corrections done, DS's grade for the year increased.
Figurative language is not his thing.

My dd is weird, she loves Shakespeare LOL. She sure didn't get that from either of us.I feel your pain. I had to help DS write a shakespeare style sonnet with 5000 rules. Every person in our family are math/science people. We all hate english/history.
