AP Holders: Should Disney "Stop the Clock" on passes until there is a Vaccine for COVID-19 ?

You got 365 days to use the pass, that’s what you agreed to when you bought it. I really don’t understand why some of y’all are upset by the approach of adding on the days to the end of the term or getting a partial refund. That really seems fair.

Some people can only vacation certain times of the year. A partial refund is not going to be enough to get them admission next year at the same time and extending the pass may be worthless to them.

Because not everyone purchased APs for 365 days of access. This situation makes it so some people have bought an AP (or an AP minus 3ish months if they take a refund) for a single trip. The extension only helps if you can actually make up your trip during that extended period and any other time remaining on your pass. The refund is better than a total loss but still isn’t ideal.

A freeze, or the 90 day mini AP concept that the previous poster suggested could help with that. I don’t think Disney is obligated but it would be a nice gesture IMO especially because those of us who would benefit are people who already lost trips to begin with, and as APs do not benefit from the free dining bone they threw.

I get at least 3 trips out of my AP’s. I activated April 29th last year, had a 6 day trip. Went in December, a 7 day trip. Then I had a 7 day next week right before it expires. I rescheduled May 31-June 6, assuming the extension would likely cover it. If that gets cancelled, I will probably not reschedule this summer. I have a reservation for November, I planned to buy a new one. It would be nice if I could use my existing one for that trip to get the full number of park days I planned when I bought it.

You're doing better than me, we’ve got 2 APs bought after the big price hike that got us a whopping 6 days each, probably $30 in merch discounts, the privilege to buy TIW (that we’re in the red on without our other trip), and some pictures.

It did let me play with FP booking from home though so I guess there’s that lol.

um they are under development right now..johnson & Johnson is hoping to have theirs out in a year which is unprecedented to get a vaccine approved that quick.
There are three that have already started human trails, and at least 2 more that'll start by the end of the month. So there is a decent hope.

Let me try to help you understand...People plan Disney vacations carefully. Some people may love going in the HOT and Rainy Summer Season. I do not. Some people may be fine with going in the Fall. I've been there; done that, so I would prefer to go in the Spring (not busy Spring Break though). That is why I had planned to go in April-(Flower and Garden Festival!) Am I picky about what I prefer...Yes! And it should be my prerogative to choose what time of year to use my AP to visit.

You don’t need to help me understand...

Why would they refund the entire thing when you had X months to use it already?
I think a prorated refund would be fair though. Ie: you purchased an AP in September of 2019, so you got 6 months use out of it, so you get 50 percent of your money back.

We bought AP's for our fam of 6 for the first time ever in 10+ years of annual visits. Our dd19 got accepted to the DCP for Spring Advantage 2020 so we planned a trip last Aug 2019 (activated AP's) and then planned to visit dd a lot during her program. We had a trip end of March (cancelled), in April (cancelled) and one in May (not cancelled but guessing it's time to do so...). I am trying to put together a trip for July before the AP's expire in early Aug and school all begins. Once mid-Aug happens, we are locked out of going to WDW until Thanksgiving or Christmas. Our extensions most likely wouldn't take us through those time periods.

I'd prefer Disney extend our AP's through the end of the year so we could get another trip out of them but that seems unlikely. I'm sad to simply get a refund but if our July trip cannot happen, that will be our only option.

The first company to start clinical trials has been using the same technology for over 30 years and has yet to produce a viable product. This may be a very long road

I didn't buy 365 days of Disney's choosing. I bought a year of park entry starting in August and ending in August. The way I see it, they should give me a ticket for every day they are closed that is valid for the next year. I'm missing at least 2 trips and maybe 3, including a trip for my 50th Bday. Mid-August thru Mid-November is useless for me due to kids in school and college football tickets I've already paid for. I was fine paying for it and not using it for 3 months last year, but I never expected to have to pay for 6 months I didn't plan to use.

And I understand it's not their fault, but it's not mine either, and I'm the one paying And I know a lot of good people work for Disney, but their leadership hasn't bought a lot of good will with me in recent years. They consider their product a premium product and charge premium prices for it. They need to come up with some premium solutions for annual pass holders instead of the two simple, lazy options that you would expect from a $20 a month gym membership.

It's all about the fine print. Here's the fine print on the AP (this doesn't mean Disney can offer something else, BUT this is what you agree on when you bought the tickets and the company is in no way obligated to stray from this) you can interpret this as you will but Disney could very well stick to the bolded and they would be in their right to do so (again I'm not sticking or defending Disney, it's just what we signed up for) people tend to expect certain things that are not guaranteed and Disney is very smart to make sure they tell you what they are guaranteeing with their tickets and other paid offerings. They are saying with this AP you can come into the parks IF...they are not guaranteeing attractions/shows/fireworks/entertainment/food options/merch options

Disney may make exceptions for individuals, but not a general overall policy change.

However, they have made an overall policy change...haven’t they? They are offering partial refunds, and they’ve stopped the clock while they’ve shuttered the parks.

True -- there is great incentive to get one created (compared to other coronaviruses) .. but doesn't mean it will be effective or safe anytime soon.

This sentiment is WILDLY different than saying “ there may NEVER be a vaccine “ with an emphasis on the word never.

That is why I had planned to go in April-(Flower and Garden Festival!) Am I picky about what I prefer...Yes! And it should be my prerogative to choose what time of year to use my AP to visit.

Wait...so if you had bought the AP with the plan to go in April, that means you’ve not activated it yet and therefore will be able to activate it at a later date, thus enjoying 365 days of uninterrupted non-use. Unless you purchased it the year prior and were trying to get another trip in, in the last week or two of the 365 days of the prior years pass? If so, smart! However, you can’t expect that Disney would allow you to add on days at your choosing as you knew the terms of the pass. If you had some personal circumstance pop up that disallowed you from using the last 60 days of your pass, you wouldn’t expect Disney to accommodate this. It’s generous that they are extending the pass at all, in my opinion.
