Anyone Cancelling?

We rented points for late Aug/Sept with a split stay using 2 different owners through Davids. As of now we do not have any options but to go or lose the $. We have no interest in going to parks or even hanging out at the resorts while wearing masks. I am torn because as much as I don't want to go under these conditions I don't want to back out either as it's our 25th anniversary.

I really wish with the limited crowds and Florida heat they would have skipped the required masks. I can deal with no parades/fireworks but masks in the heat is a deal breaker for me. I have asthma and am claustrophobic, I can hardly stand to wear a mask at the grocery store where it's always chilly.

Holding on to our August trip at this point. We're two empty nesters who live in SC with APs, so the cost is limited to hotels and food. It's a pretty easy drive. I had originally booked 4 nights at the Dolphin with a super low prepaid rate. Then, my April trip was canceled, so I added a week at POFQ. Then my June trip was canceled, so I added a week at CBR. I was cool with most of the changes (fireworks excepted) and figured that we would enjoy nice meals, a few hours in the parks each day, and relax at the resort. DH doesn't match my stamina for the parks anyway, LOL! The most recent changes...losing all of my ADRs that were perfect and plentiful, the uncertainty as to how many days out of 18 we would actually be even allowed to book a park visit, and the lack of park hours after the sun goes down (especially if air conditioned shows are shuttered) has me waiting to see how the experience really feels for those booked before us. I can't cancel my Dolphin ressie, but it's entirely possible that I will drop the last week at CBR, particularly because we won't be able to hop to EPCOT for dinner.

My guess is that the mask requirements will be loosened by that time.

Cancelling our November trip. I'm sad. I've waited three years to take my younger granddaughter. Now it isn't happening. She loves the characters and not being able to meet them plus no character meals was the final straw. It was hard without the parades and fireworks but no character interaction? Not worth the price. Unfortunately we have 6 day military tickets and have used just one day. So far no word if we will be able to put the remaining days towards a ticket in a year or two. May have paid $600 for one day at Disney for two of us if they don't have options for the remaining 5 days. We won't be back by December when the tickets expire :(

I am. I was booked for early September. Too much money to pay for all of the reductions in place. With the parks opening in mid-July I don't see many (if any) changes being made in the first 6 weeks. No parades, no fireworks, no character interaction/meals, no BBB, reduced hours, having to wear a mask, etc. is just too much for me to swallow. I'd rather wait until WDW is back to some semblance of normal.

Canceled for late July. With all the unknowns about the new reservation system and not knowing which resorts will even be open, the stress isn’t worth it. Not to mention reduced park hours, no hopping, and required masks....that put us over the edge. I’m still hoping for a fall trip depending on how things go.

Almost positive we are going to cancel our trip. My niece, who was going to be meeting us at WDW, told me yesterday she didn't fell comfortable going. And you can't blame her.

But we think we have come up with a great substitute--renting a cabin near Pigeon Forge. That will be a short drive for my niece, so she, her husband, and their dog can come. :) :dog2: I haven't been to Pigeon Forge in many years, and could use some time in the mountains.

So our choice is to go or just cancel? Why can't i rebook with my 35% off (i had free ddp) for 2021?
i can't see moving it from late summer to fall (defeats the purpose) so I would be interested in next may, one year out. is that possible or they're not booking that yet?

We are only getting one option for the 35% off. Use it on your current trip or dates, or cancel and get your money back. It stinks. I really wish we could do exactly what you are asking here. Just move or two week trip from this August to next with the same free dining, or discount offer of 35% off the room alone is just not sufficient for losing dining and then dealing with all the other things we will have to on this trip. They should be discounting the entire package, including park tickets IMO.

we were going to hold out until the last minute, but I just canceled. I'm the one planning the trip and I have already, like a lot of people who rescheduled, planned one (April) and had to do another (September). I just was tired of worrying about it. I think we will go in 2022.

Im booked to arrive for the week of September 20th, my son’s 7th birthday. It was going to be our first family vacation and the first trip to Disney for my son. He’s young enough that meeting the characters is a big deal for him, and we had a little list going of who he REALLY wanted to meet. In our house, my birthday is the 4th of July, so for us fireworks are a big deal, and DISNEY fireworks would have been amazing. My son cannot stand wearing his mask, I hate it myself as it forces me to wear my contact lenses. I prefer my glasses, but they fog up when I wear the mask 😂 So I recently booked backup dates for our Disney resort, the last week of April 2021. I was holding on to the September dates to see how things end up looking. They dont look good now. Basically the special things we wanted to experience at Disneyworld are canceled. We wanted to do MNSSHP too, which I guess is really not meant to be since we’re rescheduling to April. A year away seemed far enough, waiting the extra til September 2021 seems like forever. I just want Disney to be normal, or close to normal. This trip was costing 6-7K. For us thats ALOT of money. And not a trip we would be doing annually. I would imagine it would be a few years before another Disney trip. I wont do a “reduced” experience.

We are on the fence. We are booked for a short trip/long weekend in mid august. We bought the tickets for the first Mickey Not So Scary halloween Party for that thursday the 14th. I read last night they are cancelling the party but at the same time they arent selling any more tickets. We are specifically going for this event being its the only thing we really never saw at Disney. But I dont want to go if they aren't going to have the parades and the fireworks for that night. Everything is so up in the air for that. is anyone else booked for the party that week?

I’m getting tired of the go to line of “reduced experience for full price”. There will be changes, they have told you so, and so far the only major one that “everyone” tends to do is fireworks. They haven’t talked about rides or shutting things down, until they do people need to relax. The atmosphere is still Disney and the rides will still be functioning (until told otherwise) please stop acting like Disney is ripping you off. If those things that are being eliminated for now are important to you, please wait until they return and attend then.

I have not cancelled yet but it's only a matter of time at this point. I have a cruise on the Fantasy scheduled for the end of August but I know it won't be happening at this point. This will end up being my second one that has been cancelled. I was originally thinking I should just make it a full blown WDW trip (w/MNSSHP) as a contingency plan (already have a room booked at POR) but now that we've got a clear picture of how WDW will be operating...it just doesn't make sense for me to go down there right now. I was pretty much out once they said masks were required.

Do we even know what Disney is doing with regard to the pools? That is a major part of my vacation. I honestly don't even think we'll see the parties happening this year either. The parades and fireworks are a major highlight of the events and with those out....it just doesn't make too much sense.

Hopefully Delta will have some mercy on me as this will be my second flight that needs to be cancelled.

I have a reservation for mid August. There are a few reasons we will have to cancel. The main reason is my husband is not comfortable going, maybe not for a long time. Sad. But even if I could convince him, there are two other issues. The first is that we don't have tickets. I normally would be buying them about now in order to book our 60 day FP's. So the ticket freeze has affected us. Second, even though I'd personally be comfortable going to the parks, I'm not comfortable flying on a plane yet and its too far for us to drive.

So sadly, we will be cancelling.
