Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Dee- Could you change our dates on the BOG list? We are again changing our dates-hopefully for the last time. Is the fourth time the charm??? Our new, hopefully final dates are 9/10-9/18 @ YC. I want us all to be vaccinated and while I’ll be done by the weekend, my guys will be a while yet. I’m hoping things will be somewhat improved by then. I really, really want to be relaxing by SAB having an adult cocktail! September can’t get here soon enough!

I feel like with all the "food in your room", "grab and go" questions it's time for me break out my "Beach and Yacht Club, In Room Recipes Cookbook ©".

I'm still looking (in vain) for disk shaped hot dogs that can be cooked in a pod coffee maker, so that recipe didn't make the book (Available on "Vanity" press) BUT my Ironin' Board Grilled Cheese won an award from the prestigious "Flames Beard" Society for Hotel Cuisine.

You'll need a loaf of white bread, some Velveeta cheese, (you can substitute limberger or other european fancy cheeses), some bologna or pressed ham (pressed at the factory, not in the room) and some parsley or other greenery from Flower and Garden to gussie things up.

Add some tin foil and butter and you've got the fixins for a feast!

Assemble the sandwich with your ingredients and butter the OUTSIDE of the bread (if your cholesterol is too low feel free to butter the inside of the bread too.)

Warm up the iron to medium high and place on the top of the sandwich that is wrapped in foil. Keep peepin' to see when the bread gets warm and starts to melt and brown things. Flip your sandwich over and repeat the cooking on the other side.

When the sandwich is sufficiently toasty, cut the bread on a diagonal into 4 triangles and sprinkle with the local greenery. If you want to get really fancy, cut the crusts off and take lots of pictures for your twittergram.

Many people have written to me inquiring how I conquered this culinary masterpiece. Ok, so maybe not that many people. I will tell you that while I was in college, many leisure hours were spent experimenting, sometimes with food, to come up with this technique.

I'd be remiss if I led you to believe that this was an easy procedure. Many failures were had prior to my triumph. For instance there were the sous vide experiments in the hot tub that turned out to be not so hot. Who could have predicted that sandwiches in zip lock bags, floating around in the jacuzzi, were a no no , especially when they had to be in there for hours to get the cheese to melt. You'd think the Lifeguards would be amenable to saving a snack for their break time, but NOOooooOO!

Then there was the mushroom fiasco. Do not under any circumstances use mushrooms that your friends who follow the Grateful Dead give you. It will not end well... trust me.

Right now I'm working on something I call the "Meatza". You take a bunch of pepperoni, some mozzarella cheese, and ragu sauce and you smother it on some of that white bread, after all, you had to buy a whole loaf, what are you gonna do with the rest, feed it to those seagulls at the Nemo ride?
Anyway, you wrap the buttered mess in tin foil and put that iron to work. When this one is done it's ugly looking so don't make it on a first date. Also, why is a first date in a hotel room with you?

Be careful and don't use too much sauce, otherwise it looks like a homicide took place on your ironing board.

That sandwich is not going to win any Michelin Stars so it's back to the ironing board for me. The good thing about being an in room cooking gourmet is that there are so many directions I can take my ironing board in. Will I choose tuna and go with a tuna melt or will peanut butter and jelly be the way to go? An ironing board cheese steak seems beyond the reach of my iron but one can dream...

So, the next time you are hungry for a tasty snack, skip the Marketplace and let your iron do all the cooking. After all, nobody irons when they're on vacation so get busy!

The "do not sit at this table" signs at Cape May were there in December and January when I was there. I haven't been over to the resort this month yet but the distancing signs on the tables is nothing new. Most restaurant closures are because of distancing guidelines in the kitchen among the cast members.

can anyone confirm how far in advance you can reserve a cabana and what the full day cost is with a DVC discount? thank you!

60 days in advance from start of trip. I cannot speak to the DVC discount. And to save you from what I experienced, you do not get a confirmation email and it does not automatically appear in your My Experience app. The phone lines had a very long wait time when I called. I had to call again when I didn't get a confirmation email just to double check things and that was another 45 minute wait. So be aware :) Write down that confirmation # when they offer it.

We just booked the BC for our end of summer 7 night vacation. After booking the resort standard room, I see that they have the studio deluxe DVC room available for the same price. Is one larger than the other? If i understand correctly, the standard resort room is 2 queen beds, but no type of kitchenette. Does it have a balcony? A sofa? Mini Fridge?

The DVC studio seems to have just one bed, sofa, and kitchenette.

It’s just two adults. I’m assuming both have the same amenities and share the same property. I may switch to the studio just for kitchenette since we are there for 7 nights.

Thanks in advance for your feedback. I don’t know much about the BC or the surrounding area.

I don’t know if the DVC discount is the same as the AP discount, but if it is, it’s 15% off.

Pricing is seasonal (and the seasons aren't published) so it’s sort of hard to answer precisely. For example, the price for a date in Feb is $265 pre discount, someone recently posted they booked early April for $318.

Discounts are not always applicable for certain dates.

Hope that helps!

This should be in the ballpark:

We booked one for the first week of October. (Full day). I didn’t ask about a half day rental as we are doing a full day away from the parks.

With my DVC discount I thought the full day rental price was very reasonable. $225 after tax I think.

We booked a 7 night trip at Yacht Club to celebrate my oldest’s graduation from high school! June 20-27. Can’t wait! So many events were put on hold for us in 2020 that this trip will be the bomb. Trying to find ways to make it special. Any specialideas for a graduate?? (Already planning to rent a cabana at Yacht club, if we are so lucky to get a reservation).

Can someone remind me what the current situation with Martha’s Vineyard is. Do they have sit down service, is there a to-go option. Where can I find the menu?
Thank you

Martha’s Vineyard has sit-down service.

Ale & Compass has sit down, as well as to go.
Breakfast https://allears.net/dining/menu/ale-and-compass-restaurant/breakfast/
Lunch https://allears.net/dining/menu/ale-and-compass-restaurant/lunch/
Dinner https://allears.net/dining/menu/ale-and-compass-restaurant/dinner/

Thanks.
I thought I remembered a while ago some people saying Martha’s had additional items on the menu ( like a couple of sandwiches or grilled chicken) since other places were closed.

Talk of Cape May made me come up with another question. Laaaawds all the questions. Anyway, when I was booking dining I saw Ale & Compass was open for reservations in April. I thought they were only doing mobile orders or did I misread that somewhere? So hard to keep up with all the changes!
.....two thumbs up on this one! We ate there for both breakfast AND dinner!

I answered your questions in your other post:

A regular resort room at the Beach Club is nicer than a deluxe studio at BVC, imo, because it is a little larger, has two queen beds, two sinks in the bathroom, and many of them have a daybed. The downside is that only 50% of the BC resort rooms have the full balcony.

The benefit of the studio is the kitchenette and a guaranteed balcony, but it only has one queen bed and only one sink in the bathroom. You will get normal housekeeping - whatever that may be in August/September, if you reserve the BCV studio through Disney. You will get limited housekeeping if you purchase points for the studio.

The cash reservation (through Disney) is 100% refundable while the points reservation usually isn't 100% refundable.

Great to hear. I ended up booking Easter dinner there so that we don't have to worry about Disney Springs being at capacity. I've been going back and forth about changing it but I'll stay the line and keep the reservation.

We were there in December and they had sit down and to-go options. I think there was a burger and a chicken sandwich option which came I believe came from Beaches and Cream (same food and plates, etc.)

Thanks. That’s the info I was thinking about. Is there a pic of that menu somewhere?

How many of you do a room request? Also what are some things you request? Do you just do it on the app or call Disney? We are going to be at YC mid March.
