Any RUMORS About Rules Being Lifted?

I have not been in the parks in years nor have I been on these boards for year. I am not looking to circumvent any processes or argue about the rules in place. I am curious if Disney is currently considering or openly discussing allowing people to wear masks based on their comfort level instead of as a general guideline? Somebody with severe claustrophobia wants to travel with us and is simply asking if Disney plans to lift the mask rules. If I recall correctly, there are quite a few CMs on this aboard that work in the park. Again, I am not looking to circumvent any processes or argue about the rules in place. I told the person I would ask.

Who knows. State of CA is about to lift theirs so wonder if they will when they can do both parks? Hoping soon. Just a pain with DS (3).

Maybe by summer it’ll be lifted. I went last year and my trip split the date where they lifted the indoor mandate. This assumes case counts stay low and no new variants crop up that cause a problem

You won't find an answer here.

My suggestion is your friend not book until things are more settled.

We had one trip booked when masks were required but by time we went they were not. Next trip booked when they were not required by time we went they were. Disney will likely make an overnight decision with just a few days notice.

I was just at Hollywood Studios Friday night and had what I thought were "allergies" Saturday morning and tested positive the next day so good thing I was in my KN95 because I could have made a lot of people catch it unkowingly if I wasn't. I don't think it's time yet. My guess is things will be normal once kids under 5 can be fully vaccinated.

Hopefully the mask mandate indoors will end soon. Coming to visit next week. I think Universal will be first...and then Disney will follow suit a few days later. My insider is telling me that Universal is meeting today to talk about when to lift the indoor mask mandate in Orlando...as soon as this weekend...but no decision made yet.

I've been reading states across the board are lifting their mandates, so hopefully soon.

I was kind of watching the news last night, and I think California was one of the states lifting mask mandates soon…. If California is going to do that, it seems like Florida would also (but Florida wasn’t one of the states mentioned). Like I said, I was only kind of paying attention so not sure of the whole story.

Florida never had any statewide mask mandates, hence no lifting of mandates.

I didn’t know that universal ever reinstated theirs?

Ahhh, now it makes more sense.

Honestly mask mandate wasn't to protect guests. With the number of guests from ALL over, traveling, visiting many places ... it is on a guest if they get sick.

The masks are to protect the CMs. Disney can't afford to have CMs out for 5+ days on a rotating basis. They are already short employees at many locations. Keeping them safe from each other and guests is for staffing purposes (and hits to insurance) just like many companies are struggling with.

"The health and safety of our guests and team members is always our top priority. As a result, face coverings will now be required, effective Friday, December 24, 2021, at all public indoor locations within Universal Orlando Resort for both guests and team members regardless of vaccination status - including restaurants, shops, and indoor hotel public areas. Face coverings are also required at all attractions from the moment guests enter the queue to when they exit the experience."

Everything I've read, which are admittedly assumptions and rumors, state that Disney Land WILL NOT follow California's decision and will keep masks mandates in place until the CDC recommends the lift. Currently the CDC says states are acting too soon.

Universal will do what they want. It's a free for all there. Disney World will follow them as well, but I don't think they'll do it until the daily infected numbers meet CDC guidelines.

Orange County is still WAAAAYYY above the CDC's "low" level, which is where they say indoor masks mandates can be eased or lifted.

Orange County, however, DOES plan to follow CA and lift that indoor mask mandate on 2/15. This means Disneyland CAN, if they want to. No one knows yet if/when they will. My guess is when all their CMs have submitted the required proof of vaccination, now that Disney has decided to move forward with that requirement.

To date, LA county has said they will keep it in place until hospitalizations decline.

This means Universal Holllywood will still have it (and there it is indoors AND outdoors) so at least one Universal property will continue because they have no choice.

Lots of good theories here. While maybe splitting hairs, no one is saying anyone could NOT wear a mask if they desired. Meaning wearing of mask will continue after the pandemic as a personal choice is my belief. Anyone feeling a mask would make them safer for any sorts of reasons would be welcome to wear it, in the parks or elsewhere.

Correct …
For example at WDW masks don’t need to be worn outdoors yet I personally still do in highly crowded outdoor areas
