November discounts

These dates have been limited for a while now. I've been looking at 11/6-11/13 and 11/11-11/13 for five people and it's been slim pickings. I've been monitoring for months as we vacillate on exactly what type of trip (cruise plus one park versus all parks) we'll take for Jersey week.
Sure, slim. The Xmas parties start the 8th. We booked our dates 4 months ago, and I can (could on Saturday) modify or add a midweek day. But nothing at all? My money’s on something being up.

ETA: we had trouble booking a second full weekend reservation the last few weeks because we’re at YC - water view CL and those rooms have been dwindling for a bit, not surprising bc our trip is over the food and wine runDisney weekend. But as recently as Saturday, there were other options in the Epcot resort area and multiple options at other area resorts.

Yeah, we were looking at doing a Sat-Sat or Sun-Sun trip arriving on either the Nov 5/6 or Nov 12/13 weekend. I think there is a runDisney event on Nov 5/6 weekend because we couldn't find a single room for our dates. Nov 12/13 is a lot more availability.

Room availability is very poor. I’m wondering if they will even offer a discount if the rooms are selling so well without it.

Looking for one night for Nov 11 for 6 people.
Got curious and checked again. At least I’m now seeing some villa availability for the one night. And if I check the 11th-13th, more pop up. Nothing at all came up a couple of hours ago.

I really thought we might see something by now. I think fall discounts landed over the summer before Covid. The 2020 one came on 9/1, so I guess I'm holding out hope still. Just no way to predict anymore. But not sure I want to pay rack rates, and especially when you consider the cost of airfare these days. Any discount would really only offset the increase in airline tickets anyway.

I am still holding out hope even though last year's (scant) December discounts came out long before August. Meanwhile we have a reservation at POFQ and booked our flights (one has changed already!) since the prices for airfare are only going up up up.

I'm delaying buying plane tickets hoping they go down even just a little come early Sept. I keep reading that they may. But what do I know? I'm sure I'll still go either way, but a little voice in my head says to wait until next spring to go with a greater potential for steeper discounts. But I've delayed this trip several tmes and I'm geting antsy.

I'm still hoping too! Even if no discounts apply to the dates we are trying to book (11-8 thru 11-13), maybe others will switch their current reservations to align with discount window, opening up something in the range we are hoping to go. Fingers crossed! :)

We have a trip planned for the second week of November and staying at POFQ (no weekend dates). Was hoping for a discount to be offered for there or even to move to a deluxe resort but it does not look like it will happen. There are currently only about 3-4 resorts even available during the days of our stay and our rate is good compared to what is now being offered. Other weeks have more resorts available but at high prices. What I don't understand is that the crowd calendars are predicting moderate to low crowds during our days and no Christmas party dates are sold out for any dates. I don't see why Disney would be holding back available rooms but it does seem strange.

I've been noticing the same thing availability wise. I believe that Disney is still having trouble filling their mousekeeping service positions which may be a reason for less availability.

^^^This.^^^ I'm pretty sure this is the reason. My guess (purely a guess) is that they'd have rooms available if only they had the housekeeping staff to support them.

I spoke with an agent on the earmarked line and she couldn't say for sure but agreed when I mentioned this as a possible reason for less availability. I know that when we stayed at Coronado Springs last November, the mousekeepers were still cleaning rooms at 6:00 p.m. which made me think they were really short staffed.

I think that explanation does make sense. If so, maybe there is a chance that they will at least open up rooms. I would think that Disney is doing everything that they can to get housekeeping staffed up. Other than getting our room ready for us, housekeeping may not being doing anything further for the length of our stay. If nothing changes, I am still ok with what we have scheduled. I would like to get our preferred dining reservations. We have never gone to Hoop-Dee-Doo and only have one day that fits our schedule. Hope we get a reservation but not sure that we will.

It blows my mind that so many people are willing to pay rack. I've been going to Disney for a while and there has always been discounts and people still complained about the price. Suddenly everyone can afford 700+ a night for a deluxe stay. It makes no sense. The swan and dolphin is sold out in December is that because of lack of discounts at the other deluxes?

I don't know about everyone, but for us, we've moved to a Mod, POFQ, since AKL is now, without a discount, out of our price range. I think others are doing this as well.

I think people are willing to pay rack right now for the trip they've been waiting to take for 2+ years. Remember, under 12 weren't vaxxed until late 2021. Lots of families in that age group (ours included) didn't want to risk booking a big trip only for a kid to be sick or quarantined. I mean, hotel room quarantine with young kids has to be one of the levels of hell, right? So, this is the first fall season that many families with young children are ready to return to Disney.

Also, they aren't filling these hotels yet due to staffing. Fewer rooms to go around means they are going to fill faster without discounts.

I cannot fathom this level of demand being sustainable, but right now Disney seems to be able to charge whatever they please and someone will say, "Well, we haven't had a big trip in 3 years. Let's do it up!"

I’ve seen a couple times Swolphin was sold out but it was because it had a conference blocking all rooms. Check back a few weeks before your trip, if it’s a conference that doesn’t book out the rooms will be released back into general inventory.

Definitely not everyone can afford a $700/nt deluxe stay. The prices & lack off benefits (30 min EE instead of hour, no package delivery, no transport) have driven me to doing my first off-site stays & I have seen many mention the same thing.

Makes sense. I’ve yet to have a Disney stay post-Covid where Mousekeeping wasn’t obviously short staffed.
