MagicBand+ Order

Apparently there are a lot of them. Uncharged when you get them in the parks. Some won't pair with phones. Some don't work with the statues when you waive. Most of the YouTube videos I've watched said they aren't worth it and are kind of a gimmicky cash grab.

Ours did not arrive pre trip so my daughter purchased the orange bird one she wished she had pre-ordered. We went to AK and at lunch did the pairing and update etc. Thought all was good but it never did anything all day. At the end of the day we went to the statues and it did not vibrate or do anything when waved. Looked at her phone and it was unpaired somehow. Absolutely could not pair it. Talked to a photopass girl about it and we did what she said we were supposed to do. Also she did charge it during the day because it was just over half charged give or take when she bought it. Anyway that night I googled it and a Disney food blog article of all things had the instructions to do a factory reset (hold for 15 sec and you get a pattern of vibrations then a light). Anyway we decided to try that. Instead of doing a factory reset it actually fixed it and it was paired to her phone. She did have some non responding statues but didn’t want to stand there waving around for long. She also set it to the highest sensitivity and sometimes she just had to approach the statues to get them to work. Harmonious - it color matched pretty much the whole show from what I saw. We did not watch the show at MK because we don’t like it and wanted to see the fireworks on thunder mountain where we hit the end and finale. That was great! I really wish we could have linked it and charged it at home as it was a pain in the parks
 
And… my magic bands have been sitting at the closest regional distribution center for 2 days now, no updates.

We leave in 3 days:/ I’m not super hopeful.
 
We arrive on 8/27 and our bands just shipped! I did not get a shipping email (or a confirmation when I ordered), just noticed the status changed to "shipped" on MDE with a tracking number.
 
And… my magic bands have been sitting at the closest regional distribution center for 2 days now, no updates.

We leave in 3 days:/ I’m not super hopeful.

My AP band that I ordered on the 27th arrived in our regional center Thursday evening. I got them yesterday. Hopefully yours will go for delivery today. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I get too nervous about receiving the bands on time. I like to buy them in person. I hate how Disney phases out the older bands so you have to buy new ones.

You only "have to buy" new ones if you want the interactive stuff. Otherwise you can still use the old bands.
 
Does anyone know what you do if your MagicBands ship, but don't arrive before you leave? We leave Friday morning. I live in Seattle and don't know when I will get back to Disney World, so if they don't show before then I don't really have use for them other than this trip. I ordered via a resort reservation (not shop Disney).
 
It’s great they are trying to make it right. Wondering how the $50 was decided on. Did you order 5 bands so they gave you the $10 discount per person? Or does it seem like $50 per party no matter how many you had ordered?
I only ordered one band and got a $50 gift card. Plus the credit back to my credit card and the band I ordered is still shipping to me. Here at WDW now, brought an old MB and honestly, I’m glad mine didn’t arrive in time. I didn’t buy one here, I’m not really impressed with them as I see what they kind of do, it’s not a lot right now. I’m sure more functionality will come, I’ll use it on my next trip.
 
So I woke up this morning and looked up the tracking info on our magicband+ order. They arrive on 8/22. Unfortunately, we leave on 8/21....
I'm on hold with Disney right now waiting to see what can be done.

ETA: I'm not overly thrilled with the response I received.... Since my bands have shipped, they suggested I get the key card at the front desk if they don't make it in it. That's it. Like.... huh??? No, sorry, that's not going to work for us. I paid $$$$ for these things, I'm not going to just get screwed out of my purchase because Disney decided to take OVER TWO WEEKS TO SEND THEM. Now they gave me another phone number to call, which I did, but they don't open till 9 so I get to wait even longer. I am so frustrated right now. I can't even make the call at 9 because I work... So my husband who works from home will make the call.

At this point I'd just wait and talk to them when you get there. They may arrive before you leave and if not, just talk to someone at the resort or guest services who I'm sure can help with a refund and credit for new bands.

We had to go to the desk when ours didn’t arrive. They immediately cleared the charge on my card. We had decided we both did not need the bands so my daughter went to the gift shop and purchased one. We got 3 bands for the price of one. (As our shipment is coming at some point since it just shipped yesterday). We also got the email from Disney about it with a $50 gift card. So try to hold off on your anger until you see what they do if you can. I understand the frustration since ours shipped after our trip was over. Give them a chance to fix it before you get too upset. I think they will help you out.
 
I ordered a MB+ on the release day. We check-in tomorrow. My order is "in progess." I'll report back tomorrow night. ::MinnieMo

No MB+ for me at check in. I canceled the order and I bought one in the shop. I had to use my AP discount, didn’t get the guest discount.

How were you able to cancel?? I was told that once its it fulfillment, no modifications were allowed. This is getting so frustrating...

It's been a couple of weeks but.....

I thought I canceled my order at check-in but that didn't happen. I guess this Disney's way of dealing with a disappointed guest, dishonesty. Now I have two MB+'s. My original order arrived in the mail.

I wish I had not wasted my money. A few lights and underwhelming interaction with the 50th statues, that's it.
 
When I called about my order placed on 7/27 the cm said they’re filling orders based on resort stay dates. Said I should check my tracking in a few days, and magically it changed from processing to shipping! Got mine 4 days after my call. (I leave in 6 days for my trip)
 
Well I got our Magic Bands on Friday (8/26). The paperwork says they shipped 8/13, which was the first day of our second reservation and coincidentally the one I used to place the order.

Very disappointed. NO CHARGING CABLES!!! was that in the fine print and I missed it? If so, that's totally on me. But I expected fully functional magic bands. Now I guess I understand why they sell the charging cables at the parks. Good thing the ones I bought, using the $50 credit came with cables.
 
We got our bands, but they didn't really work. If you do get yours, I suggest doing ALL the updates and make sure they fully pair before you leave. I thought I had done everything necessary, but then they wouldn't pair properly when we were at WDW.

So we went to Guest Servies - for nearly 2 full hours- trying to get them to work. We re-did all the updates, deleted re-added MDE, charged MB's...At end of two hours, I think we got two of them to temporarily pair. She said w/Andoid bands had to be fully charged to pair, but that didn't seem to matter.

So part of the time they did randomly light up in some attractions. I think 3 lit up during RnRC. They did work like regular M-bands. They sometimes worked at the statues, but then a day or two later all the ones we had collected would disappear. Some statues did not work at all. We didn't get to use them at fireworks. Only night we saw MK fireworks was from Contemporary, but they did not light from CR.

On top of that, they popped off our wrists easily. Starting form day1, and the problem got worse the more we took them off/put them on.

I knew we'd have to charge them, but in practice, having phones, plus bands, plus a powerbank charging every night was an added hassle. The nightstand was covered in cables and devices. With having to book G+, remembering the bands, and trying to get them to link was just one more hassle each morning.

Thanks for the report. Out trip is next week. My DH doesn’t want to pair his with his phone or use any of the + features. Do you know if it will work as a normal magic band if we just charge it?
