After being a DVC Member since 1997, we sold our Boardwalk Villa points and are saying goodbye to Disney. It became just too crazy hard to even get our home resort for any type of reservation, let alone within a year's time. There were open slots, just not when we were able to travel. It became such a major task to get a home resort reservation, plan our attraction visits and times, get a dinner reservation, and all with major cost increases. We use to be able to zig when others zagd and use the fast passs systems, or the bands and enjoy our visits, but now its all just a major chore, not a vacation. So bye Disney, I am sure you won't miss us, but replacing us may be hard, as I have no idea how a young family of 5 could afford your product.

Sorry to hear, never realized it was that difficult to book BWV at 11 months. Since 1997, I would say you had an awesome run. We bought VGF in 2014 and used to book a week in a studio the first week or 2 of December. Don't even bother with December anymore because of the walking. I guess its similar at BWV.

Sorry, @T8cnel that your family has had to make this choice, but I get it. I also wonder how many other families, like yours, have just silently sold and moved on. When you read words like yours that I put in bold, it makes one wonder where their tilting point is at. These are not good adjectives to have to apply to family vacations.

Been there. We bought VWL way back, got out in 2015. We still went every year for the next 5 years and repurchased BRV in 2020, same use year as original.
I agree the planning is insane now. We we started going (late 90's), you could walk up to most restaurants and get in within 1/2 hour- 45 minutes.
Sept.-Oct. were slow times. attractions were 5-15 minute stand by times. Same with January. Original FP paper machines worked well and gave us
options on park strategy as crowds steadily increased.
The current park reservation system and Genie, LL, Virtual cue, ADR's etc. is completely time consuming and exhausting. I can see where you've had enough. Sad to see long time Members leave, but I get it.

Here’s to hoping that it’s not goodbye but see you later until things go back to how they were or pretty close to it! May your memories bring you comfort.

Such lovey comments .. thank you gang. The memories are priceless. Before DVC and the Boardwalk we would stay in the Fort Wilderness Cabins when the kids were really little. Cook our meals, tool around in the golf cart, ride the boat to MK, discovery island and River Country. Then Boardwalk, what a blast of a place to stay. But of course we will be back to the parks, touring in a very different ways than in the past.

BTW I used DVC Store . Com to sell our points. They did a fantastic job .. I found them on this site.

So sorry you felt the need to sell. I'm glad you have fond memories. DVC has always worked best for those that can plan and book as early as possible, and given the number of point from the pandemic that are still trying to be used up, especially from non-US owners, I think booking will be difficult for another year of so.

I've never really had any major problem booking dining, though. I haven't always been able to get my first choice, but there are always other good venues available. I really don;t like the park reservation system, but at the same time, those of us that planned early, have always kind of done the same thing, by planning which park which day for dining and fastpasses...

My first and only experience with Genie+ was horrible, and Disney refunded the day. My last trip, in early June. was much better, as far crowds and getting on rides. but there was still crowds.

I get it. Sorry you had to sell, but I get it. Prices are insane. We have been taking our kids since 96, bought in 2000 in the hopes of bringing our grandchildren every year. That idea is already out the window. If not for the left over and comped tickets, we wouldn’t be taking them in early 23’. After that, who knows when we can go back? Maybe we will trade out and go somewhere more relaxing and more cost effective. I just know Disney is pricing out so many of their most loyal visitors… members! And Chapek has no intention of slowing that down!

I think many here are missing the point…
The OP did not “have to sell” as many are saying, but rather chose to sell due to the changes over the years.
That is correct Gracey ... We didn't have to sell, but for a number of reasons ( points expiring without use (yes we could sold/gift them), scarce reservations, touring plan alterations, massive crowds even in off months and of course all the cost increases. Its all just way too much work compared to what we use to experience.

We took our family, kids and grandkids, on a beach vacation this past spring. All had a wonderful time. That told us its time to move on .. for now .. Of course we will be back for the food and wine festival or two ...

Understood. I realize that, knowing that "had to sell" was a choice they felt they had to make due to being so unhappy with the changes. That's why I said I get it....there are other options than selling, but when one is done, then they're done...and I totally get that.

Being new to BWV - I get it - if you look at August so many are walking reservations that you have to wait until the walkers pass ( rooms booked 11 months + 2 days sometimes) to make a reservation. When you call MS they say that that is permitted so DVC basically encourages walking.

I am sorry you had trouble booking your home resort at 11 months. We have stayed at BWV many times booking at 7 months.

I knew walking was bad… but what are they starting to walk towards in the month of August?
Is it time for me to start walking for NYE 2023 at BLT ? Hope that is a Joke .!.

You are lucky you were able to complete a Sale with satisfaction.
APPARENTLY there is a huge amount of resales listed !
Did you receive your asking price ?

I’m sorry. I’m a long time Dis Board lurker and BWV DVC member BUT, what does walker mean?

Thanks
