I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Has anyone had an issue with SW saying your account is closed and you can't use your points? I can login and my points show as available but when I try to book a flight it says my account is closed. I certainly didn't close my account so I'm not sure what is going on. I'm on hold but I doubt they'll be answering anytime soon.

Southwest just can’t seem to get its act together. They sent an email apologizing and giving me a code to redeem for 25k Rapid Rewards points. Click the link and immediately enter the virtual queue of 6 mins (PS5 2020 flashbacks anyone). It then finally lets me through to the SW site, but it never fully loads because it clearly crashes despite their efforts to avoid crashing. Had to start over and now the wait is 16 mins. This is likely a new PR nightmare for them. They need better crisis management advice! But fine with me, just keep the compensation coming!
Of. Course. 😂

I would review the first post here as @CyndiLouWho suggested. It’s impossible to properly answer this question for you without knowing your current cards and credit card goals.
I can.

The Chase Disney Visa is a miserably poor product that isn't good for anybody. I can say that confidently. Always no.

You know that scene in The Office?

Michael: "Gift baskets are amazing, Phyllis. Gift baskets are the essence of class and fanciness. They are the ultimate present that a person can receive."

Andy: "What about cash? Cash, you can buy whatever you want, including a gift basket. So... it's kind of the best gift ever."

Jim: "What about a gift basket full of cash?"

Andy: "Yes! Cash basket! Nice work, Tuna."

That's how I feel whenever I hear people talking about their Disney Rewards Dollars. There is zero benefit to Disney Rewards Dollars over cash back, because cash back can be used for whatever you want, including Disney stuff.

My guess would be it has something to do with their points site crashing. May not be related but the timing doesn’t seem coincidental.

Incorrect.

Sometimes we get people who don’t do credit cards but want some Disney money and are intrigued by the card. They have no interest in multiple cc. No interest in point currencies and are solely focused on Disney money. Sometimes they even mention wanting Disney dollars over cash so they know it will allocate towards vacation. Disney card could definitely be a good fit. Is it rare we get that? Absolutely. But it is possible.

Assuming people’s desires and current cc holdings can easily lead to a bad recommendation for that person.

I certainly hope it's something like that. I have a good amount of points (at least for me) and I'll be livid if I lose them. Especially when I didn't close my account. Below is what I see when I log into my account. Doesn't this look like the account is still open? I would think when an account is closed you can't login anymore and I would also think the points would be 0.

Keep the screenshot and try Twitter. I have found SW Twitter BP very helpful with issues I've had. That said SW is a crap show right now so they may not respond.

Yes, it appears to be open but you’re not able book. I definitely think that is related to my current issues with their “points site.” It appears that their points redemptions are handled behind the scenes through a third party provider, which is the same provider/site we are trying to use to redeem these compensation points codes.

ETA: they had to give out so many of these codes that it overwhelmed the system even more than they anticipated.

Random question so I don't have to go line-by-line.

Are any of the annual benefits on Amex Plat tied to cardmember anniversary, or does everything reset on January 1?

Thank you for the responses. Southwest finally picked up and the agent said my account was open and she didn't see any issue with it. I'll try to book over the phone once I talk with my DW.

Has anyone used an AmEx offer, gotten the reward and then cancelled? I used the spend $1,000 NCL offer for $350 back. We are now cancelling the cruise and booking something else (not NCL). I definitely don't want to anger AmEx and fully expect them to take the $350 back, but do I need to do anything to stay on their good side, or just wait for them to take the money back?

I haven't actually cancelled yet, I want to be prepared if there's something I need to proactively do.

I used a spot for it, might've even put me at 5/24 for awhile. It totally made sense at the time but I don't remember the reason without going back to look. I think it was a good offer/low spend with an upcoming trip. Prob bought dis gc with the statement credit during 4x go.

The better play is often gc however you do them. But Dis does a decent job of marketing their card to help save or the 0% on the card.

Everyone churns and gets credit cards for different reasons. Best to explain the benefits of x card over y card then just tell someone that they are wrong and should never get a card.

We don't all get cards with all banks, for lots of reasons. I won't get anything from wells Fargo and if Alaska would ever leave bofa they'd be on that list too. Cap 1 will never like me. Stuff like that along with monthly spend will affect the cards people get, want or be able to take advatage of.

I don't use it for delivery usually. I pick it up, then I'm usually at least close to the cost of the food itself and not all of the fees and tip costs.

This is how we use our Instacart and UberEats credits. We pick the orders up, no problem with getting it when we want and for as close to free as possible. We also are only ordering items that we would be getting anyway. We're also not in an area with a lot of UberEats delivery options so pick up it is.

They will take back the $350. You won't anger them.

This isn't r/churning, it's a friendly, helpful place

That last sentence is the most important.

If someone comes here expressing interest in a Disney Visa, then by all means point out to them that other cards would give them a better return - but if they still decide that Disney Visa is for them, then wish them well and let it be.

Some folks just need the certainty that the rewards they earn go into a certain bucket that can't be spent on something else. We are not here to judge - each person can make the decision they feel is right for them. The best we can hope for is to provide some helpful guidance.

This has always been a place where anyone can come and ask their question without fear of being made to look stupid. I'd like to think most of us want to keep it that way.
