Going on Bermuda cruise September 9, 2023. What excursions did you do? Any favorites? Did you use Disney's or another excursion company? Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

I will be on that cruise, too. I am really curious what the menu is for the extra night, assuming the pirate menu and regular main dining rotation menus will be used the other 7 nights.

I booked an island tour excursion outside of Disney which lasted a out 4 hours. In terms of the menu, one of the nights at Enchanted Garden had a menu that had never been served on the Fantasy before according to my server. I also enjoyed the Welcome Reception on the 2nd night which includes free wine and beer

Where did excursion take you and did you enjoy? What excursion company did you use?

I booked it through Viator. The company is called Titan Express and they drove us around the island for several hours. We stopped at the lighthouse and one of the pink sand beaches. I enjoyed it. I saw several of their busses and they run the trolley at the port

I do not recommend the Bermuda Aquarium and Crystal Caves Admission by Bermuda Explorer (purchased from trip advisor). It was very disorganized and chaotic and ran about an hour over schedule, so some people had to take taxis to get to their reservations! Also, it was just a very tiny aquarium (we only had 15 minutes there because of their scheduling error and, you know what, 15 minutes was actually enough time to see everything in there) and just the crystal caves (instead of crystal AND fantasy caves like advertised on trip advisor). All in all we felt like we wasted the day. The cave WAS beautiful, but we're from MO and we have lots of limestone caves here already. This one was better, of course, but would have rather just spent the day at Horsehoe Bay.

Speaking of Horseshoe bay, next day we just paid the $7 bus to get to Horseshoe Bay and recommend that 100000%. The bus is really easy to find at the port :) We only had about an hour there because I injured myself there (nothing major, but please don't walk on the rocks like meee) but it was one of the best hours of my life!

I second your comment about Horsehoe Bay. It's absolutely beautiful

We did Horseshoe Bay and the next day a tour of the island thru DCL. The tour stopped at the Lighthouse, Hamilton and St. George, plus a few other stops. We had time in St.George for a bite to eat.

Horseshoe Bay is a must if you are a beach person. Just grab a shuttle bus at the port,. It drops you at bottom of hill. Beach has bathroom facilities, food, bar and rentals.

We did the Bermudaful Island Tour - which we very much enjoyed and would recommend.

Not much to see or do in the port - and you need to take a bus, taxi, or ferry to get to the main parts of the island.

We did two tours in Bermuda - booked through Disney - and I wouldn't recommend either, actually. We did the behind the scenes at the BAMZ tour which I was particularly excited about, and the Bermuda Triangle Evening Cruise. The BAMZ tour did not actually take us behind the scenes aside from taking us out on a boat to a spot where someone had put in some igloos for the local birds and do a brief talk about conservation efforts. Well, unless you count seeing some of the classrooms if you use the restroom before the boat tour. Afterwards you do feed the turtles in the public tank out front (they do this daily anyway) and then are on your own until it is time to head back to the ship. I've done behind the scenes tours at other aquariums and zoos and was expecting more for the price tag, such as actually go behind the scenes AT the zoo or aquarium.

The evening tour was fine, but again my expectations got the best of me. We were expecting more ghost stories given the late departure and description, but honestly it is a history lesson with a normal glass bottom boat tour. They did mention a couple stories of disappearances, so this one was on me for thinking it would be more ghost story than reality. We only saw one kind of fish and the littler fish they ate as it was at night to boot... you can spot other nocturnal animals too, but our tour did not get that lucky.

We opted to not take the bus back to port after the BAMZ tour the first day and instead took a taxi into Hamilton. There I was able to buy my Mom a pink sand necklace and we had lunch at the Hog and Penny. After that we took a taxi to a nearby Twizy (vehicle either a step up or down from a golf cart depending on how you look at it) which was our chariot for the rest of the day. We drove up to St George and found Fort St Catherine closed 15 minutes before we got there (whoops) so just drove around enjoying the scenery and popped into some stores for rum and to see what different snacks we could find. We had a nice dinner at the Wharf in St George while charging as well before slowly making our way back to the ship, arriving just as it was getting dark. The next day we had planned to take the ferry over again but gave up on that idea as the weather was rainy. Instead we tossed on rain jackets and ran around the dockyard and visited the museum and fort right there. We had lunch at the Frog and Onion which was fine but more touristy. We had originally planned to snorkel one day but the water temp was just too cold for us (68/70 was the forecast) so we cancelled it a couple weeks prior. I'm very glad we did not try to snorkel that second day - we would have been miserable.

We’re going on the September Bermuda cruise. Thanks for the information about the excursions!

What night was Pirate Night?

Take the tour to St George. It’s beautiful and very walkable. You can also get horse drawn carriag ride in the square in St George. There were a lot of nice restaurants and shops. It’s a short walk to the museum, the old town hall, unfinished church and Fort Catherine as well. There was a reinactment of a woman on a ducking stool for gossip. If you prefer beach Elbow Beach and Horse Shoe bay have the gorgeous pink sand.

Was this thru Disney? or did you book by yourself?

I recommend the "House's of the Rich and Famous" booked thru Disney if you like history. It was fascinating to hear the history of the houses and was not just about rich people from the States/Europe. It was more about the people that were from Bermuda and showing there houses and family estates from the water. The tour guides did an great job speaking about the houses and the culture of the people that founded Bermuda and still are a big part of it. Plus some of the houses were really cool architecture.

Bermuda was a beautiful island that I will be going back to for sure.

Also make sure you get off the Boat at night to at least take a picture of it all lit up. It was so cool to see it from land and all of the color (which we cannot see while cruising on the water).

Can anyone recommend an evening excursion? I had looked at some of the sunset sailings, but most of them are reserved for 21 and up if I go through DCL and I will have my 16 year old with me. If anyone can recommend a reputable company I might go outside DCL for just this once.

Absolutely recommend Restless Native! We did their sunset cruise and loved it! All ages welcome if you book direct. I know Disney offers them as well, so if there is no availability on your dates it's cause Disney has them reserved for that time slot.
