Marathon Weekend 2024

I wondered about that, too, but even if they accelerated corral releases and got everyone on course within 30 minutes of the early start that would still only allow 2:45 to complete the course. That allows for 14:53 pace if you're in the first wave, but only a 12:36 pace if you start with the balloon ladies. That's awfully aggressive for the RunDisney population and would be setting a huge portion of the field to be swept, possibly more than they have sweep capacity for.

Definitely aggressive but gives those that can complete it the opportunity to but also gives others the chance to get as far as they can, possibly to MK which is what everyone wants. I think maybe the reason it’s not happening is your last sentence.

I’ll probably run around Saratoga Springs when I get back, as long as I can finish before there is any lightning in the area.

DH is talking about the same thing. This was supposed to be his first half (and his gateway race to me getting him to do the full with me next year) But he may just run it Sunday morning since he’ll be up while I get ready for the full. We are also at Saratoga.

How upset are the people that are ONLY doing the half gonna be? I’d be pretty bummed for sure!

Let me know if anyone decides to do the remaining six somewhere. I’d be up for that, too.

I'm entertaining 2 different ideas.

1. Head back to Pop and run around Pop Century and AoA to hit 13.1.

2. I am going to Epcot anyways tomorrow and I'm in corral F. I would likely finish late anyways. Maybe I just walk the distance around Epcot after it opens, stop for any characters that may be out, and recreate the experience as best I can.

Darn it, I came back to the room planning to put some music on and read a book to chill out until I could turn out the light for tomorrow's 1:45a wake up call. Now I'm all riled up!

ETA: Just as I finished posting this "Run Like Hell" comes up on my playlist. One of my favorite groups. That band is just fantastic. Now if I could figure out which one was Pink!

This is really disappointing. I get that they have to do it, but it doesn’t change the fact that the main draw of this race is running in MK, and they removed that. That course also sucks. I wish they had just recycled today’s 10k course, since right now we have mostly highway running with minimal park time.

I’ll be running from BLT to GF and back however many times it takes tomorrow to make up the mileage.

My entire family except me only runs the half. I’m pretty upset about this and want to know what the process is going to be to get a partial refund. I understand doing it, but they better have some process in place to reimburse half runners. I’m dreading the hours on the phone talking to RunDisney telephone operators.

I am never going to get to sleep now am I? And tomorrow is going to be rough letting the legs lock up before the second half of the run.

The boardwalk area bus lines are gonna be LONG, hope they’re planning for that

Unless all of the weather apps I'm looking at are drastically inaccurate I don't see any severe weather until the afternoon. I see rain and a little wind starting at 7:00 a.m. but I've run races in worse.

exactly...they made the decision using old predictions...all they needed to do was start the waves 30 to 45 minutes early, and worst case cut the last mile around epcot and we would have been way in time even for the bad predictions of this morning ...which had thunder around 10am or 11am..now predictions are noon or 1pm
