Something About Nothing............ #14

And the sun is shining!!!!

Beautiful day here, one of my friends just called to say they`ll stop by on the way past, not sure where they`ve been, but we`re on the way home for them which is nice we`ll see them for a cuppa.

We have the Bi fold doors open now as the sun is streaming in and it`s not at all cold, so odd for February! But we`ll take it, apparently the beach is incredibly busy, not surprised on a day like this, we would have went down if they weren`t dropping by.

Will get the kettle on soon for them and brought out some lovely cakes and scones I made earlier in the week, will be nice having afternoon tea in the sunshine!!

ladies, little one, me, and my sister, all take the train, to go to the flower show
You’ve done that for some time as I recall? Nice to have family traditions like that. Too easy to go stir crazy in the winter sitting at home

How long till your Trip?

I talked the mr into just adding a day (anniversary present) onto beginning of April trip vs an extra weekend trip. Air fare was choking me for March

I Booked a new res vs modifying yesterday, jik the other components didn’t fall into place while modifying air/hotel.

Quite interesting. Adding one day was less than the original 8 nights by $40

I double checked, wasn’t charged to for 2 weeks, definitely a week and 4 extra days quote

:confused3
The swamp area is going to be very close to ET, it looks worse now it has height attached to it, been following on Bioreconstruct, always good to see how that and Epic are coming along.
I’ve been just taking quick peeks, want to be surprised. Followed the Epcot pile of dirt/Moana closely, finished product didn’t live up to the hype

Ps enjoy that weather. It’s 16 here but sunny
That is a good time they`re doing, for 5K Kyle does anywhere between 19-21 minutes depending on what stage his training is at. He said yesterday he did 21.14 as he was "going slow" lol.
Those are remarkable times for one relatively new to that sport! He will only up his game as he goes

Like your trip math Keisha! Always good when you get a good deal. Trip is coming up soon, as decided a week was all we needed. Plus, little one’s pass is not valid starting at end of March, so why not go just before. Though she wants Mickey in there too, thank goodness for military discounts. First time at CB with Mickey and DS with the dark side. Slim picking at Universal when decided to book. Actually not much at Mickey either, though booked my Fall trip already. That’s for sure. Only booked a week, but thinking maybe making it two. Gotta use that pass. lol

Went with older one and did his pick up, then picked up lunch for little one and us, as went to place she likes. Then have been relaxing after a quick walk around the block, but that wind was so cool feeling. Now relaxing and will be grilling steaks for dinner, which we picked up. Love seeing that clear sky after the snow and overcast morning we had. Roads are clear and stores were busy.

Glad to have two more days before three into the city. Did it right though, made this coming weekend, a three day one too. Hair salon visit after I come out of the city my last day there. Can’t believe it’s getting to the end of February already. But yay, ever thst much closer to Spring time.

You know I love this meme!!!

Better to have an opinion on someone else`s life than try to copy or mimic someone`s life, ways, phrases and sayings I guess. Especially when it`s obvious to all!!!

Gotta love life!!!!

Friends came around this afternoon and we had an afternoon full of laughs and chatter, I`m glad they didn`t stay for dinner as my gravy was too bitter, too much ale in it I think, meat was very tender though and boy was that mash creamy!!

I did mention earlier this morning I was looking for a new hairdresser, think I`ve found one and closer to home than I realised, so will give her a call tomorrow and maybe arrange an appointment in the next couple of weeks for a cut, then if I like her and we get on I`ll get my highlights done with her next appointment.

Definitely getting lighter in the mornings and evenings, you can really see that time shift hitting us which is so good to see!!

Time for a cuppa I think......

An extra day is fabulous Janet!! Nice one, my cousin was telling me she planned a trip to Orlando from NY in March but flight prices were horrendous, when she can`t go they were fine....always the way isn`t it!!

I can`t help but look!! Epic looks incredible and the Monsters coaster looks exceptional, I`m definitely going to stay at that new hotel inside the park, it`s going to be stunning.

We had the doors open most of the afternoon, when my friend who gets even colder than me wanted them closed.....lol....so we closed them over but the sunshine was nice.

He`s only been running for just over 2 years and yes, very proud of his achievements in running. He`s apparently taking it very easy tonight and resting!!! Think he can say he`s earned a lazy night!!

Thinking about taking a quick trip up to Scotland to see my mum, look forward to seeing her new place too.

She`ll be 89 next month I told her today we need to start planning her 90th!! She`s all for it, she does like a good celebration, even though she doesn`t drink!! A strong cup of tea is her idea of a nice drink!

Think we`ll have an early night tonight, might watch some tv in bed although I do have some emails to catch up on ☺️

And a very good Monday morning once again!!!

Looks like we might have rain till around lunchtime, but not too heavy so we`ll get out this morning to do a little shopping for groceries and some fun household shopping for some bits and bobs. And I have an appointment for the old leg waxing again!!! It`s a little ouchy........ ::yes:: The wax lady is the one who suggested this new hair salon, so fingers crossed!

So far I think we`re enjoying the mildest February on record over here, I`ll take it.

Pork fillet for dinner tonight, doing it with honey, soy sauce, mustard, and the usual Asian spices so it`ll be quickly roasted and the juices will go lovely with Lo Mein noodles, so dinner sorted. No idea for lunch but breakfast is simple French Toast with some parma ham and fruit. Had my first pot of tea for one, once sleeping beauty is up and showered, we`ll have breakfast together as always and yes, that large pot of tea, perfect way to start the day for us.

Thought we might manage up to Scotland this week, but we have a couple of appointments we can`t alter, and might be looking after little Elise once or twice, so will postpone that for another week.

But, Monday again and hopefully a nice week ahead!!

Have a lovely Monday 😁

Monday and hehe, DH was enjoying time with me, but you can’t take a work guy out of doing work. He got a phone call at 6:30, and had been talking with an old coworker for a long time this early morning. But glad we both don’t have to have those screens on today.

Holiday Monday, last one until end of May. Sigh. But time does go fast, even faster when we switch to day light saving time next month.

29 degrees and oh so sunny out. All day sunshine with 41 degrees and still windy, with 14 mph winds. Winter jackets, sunglasses, and hair tied up. Woot!

Thinking today, to go to that one dairy farm store we tend to go to the most, as one my mom took me to when I was young. There want to pick up some dairy to take into the office. And hope not as busy on a week day. Though all the local schools are off today too, so not sure. Hoping little one will go with me. They have their ice cream shop open, so maybe a cup if we feel like a cold treat when it’s still not that warm today. Then maybe hit a few stores near there. But with little one was not up until after lunchtime yesterday, hope we get going earlier today.

Alarm set, as commuting all this week. But happy to have Friday a lazy one. Needed that short by two, week. And back to routine with trash at curb by dinnertime tonight. Week day routines. Yes, that busy day week days for the next, almost six and a half years. Then retire. At least that is what I am planning. But happy today is a lazy one today.

Most Marvelous Monday to all.

Well, no "LAZY" days for me today, but ended up a lovely one in the end.

Went to the Farm Stores I`m always blathering on about and have done for years, I know it must get boring......ho hum.....got some lovely produce and headed for my waxing appointment which wasn`t too ouchy then home. Beautiful day although a little chilly, then on a whim asked my friend J if she fancied doing a spa afternoon.

I had gift vouchers from Christmas from other friends, and I know she loves a good spa visit so managed to get a last minute booking and we had a couple of hours of being PAMPERED!!!! Isn`t it the best!!!

Hand, shoulder, neck and back massages for both of us, she went in the sauna for half an hour while I had an Indian Head Massage.....really clears your thoughts!!! The Spa is only an hour or so away from us, so it was far enough to feel like a proper afternoon out and with one of your best friends too, nice.

We did have a pain in the butt to deal with, there`s always one, but.....both J and I are similar......

cv12-Th.jpg

Tom went volunteering ::yes:: again, as is his usual habit a couple of times a week, again, something he has done for years, again, I do blather on about it it seems, but we both enjoy it.

He had made dinner so it was ready for me getting in tonight, lush!!! Thank goodness he is such a good cook too.

My friend always comments how much time Tom and I spend together and yep, we do compared to a lot of couples, but we wouldn`t have it any other way 🥰 And she doesn`t really see much of her husband due to work, they seem to live their own lives now. It happens I guess.

But, gloves are off.......and warm and cosy in here.

Tom is making a pot of tea....he doesn`t want to ruin my "pampered" feeling......lol....such a doll!!!

Hey all! Blinked and day was nearly done. Helped reinstall my kitchen island...as in I pretty much just got in the way and tried to follow instructions.

17 degrees when pooch finally roused me this morning
IMG_4669.jpeg
got into low 30’s, least sunny day. I never made it further outside than back deck. Still snow on ground. Will be in 50’s for a few days starting Thursday, will dispatch that quickly. Nice to really not have to deal with much snow ground cover at all this year. Not much uglier than dirty snow After it sits there for a while.

Mac - yoohoo…do we need to send out the hounds?

Gotta use that pass. lol
Of course! I get it
will give her a call tomorrow and maybe arrange an appointment in the next couple of weeks for a cut, then if I like her and we get on I`ll get my highlights done with her next appointment.
Smart, I never take that route tho, God forbid I’d not want immediate gratification lol
I can`t help but look!! Epic looks incredible and the Monsters coaster looks exceptional, I`m definitely going to stay at that new hotel inside the park, it`s going to be stunning.
I’m going to rely upon you for updates then. Video testing of monster coaster caught my eye a bit ago. I did get an email re the various restaurant concepts, sounds interesting if they can pull it off Like the idea of a central hub of sorts.

I’m guessing we passed by the “value” buildings last trip. At first I thot, ew, soviet block house stuff…then the sunset light hit it. Was a real riot of color. Didn’t get a good look on what is applied to the outside to create that effect, pretty cool.

That is amazing. I love to hear of seniors living their best life in their 80’s & 90’s! It’s a real blessing indeed to have your health & mental facilities in those golden years.
Indian Head Massage
I read that as Indian burn (think they call it chinese burn in the UK) lol.

Sounds like a really relaxing afternoon, lucky you :)

Good evening. Quick post before bedtime.
Now that we have decided on a couple of vacations I really want to start planning, but it’s too early.
Nothing interesting is going on here right now. I finished my last state cross stitch. Now I need to get them all framed, but I have no idea where to hang them. My house does not have a lot of useable wall space.

Here is Virginia.
IMG_0282.jpeg
And here is the little project I worked on during the Super Bowl.
IMG_0276.jpeg
I’m going to take a short break from stitching and then start on a Spiderman picture.

Well Janet I have been reading posts but this past week have been tied up in real life situations but will work on posting more soon.

You have a good eye as not many notice when I have not joined in on a thread.

You caught me red handed.
Some days are better at times for me

I will catch up in the thread some days real life gets in the way

but i aim to make better progress soon
some days are better than others for me

lol.....I admire you trying to help Janet!!! Bet it all looks lovely now, hope you`re happy with it.

I may end up just booking the full works when I do book, by the time I get round to it my highlights/lowlights will need redoing anyway. My girl did leave the salon I went to and seems one other has left too, not sure how it`ll work without those two ladies and she has no plans to replace them. Not a good businesswoman or boss, or person for that matter.

Yes, Russian blocks is a good description. I think once the lights and landscaping is complete they "may" look flashy, but not for me. But the one inside is going to look amazing! And the rides do look like they will be a lot of fun and that`s an understatement!! I can`t help but follow all the updates, Potter especially will be spectacular!

Yep, Chinese burn over here, I`m guessing they still hurt the same!!

My mum is a warrior, she really is and her zest for life is incredible and we are incredibly grateful she has all her faculties and is still sharp as a tack. And think I told you, that filter has gone.....lol......which can be funny at times....sometimes lol......

Had a lovely afternoon thanks Janet!

Looks nice Charade. I`m always amazed when flying over America and looking at the Skymap how many name places are the same in Britain. Even on your picture are Norfolk and Richmond, from Boston onward there are so many same names.

Spider-Man will be nice to see.

Always good to see you post mac!!

We do get busy at times I know and you`ve had a lot going on.

I did look when I got home, but the emails I sent you from my phone before I left the spa, the spelling wasn`t too bad....I didn`t have my glasses with me....lol.....sometimes with no glasses it`s like reading another language as I`m guessing where the letters are!! I hate typing on my phone, usually sticking to txts!

Not too bad a day ahead for us, sun will shine but 20+mph winds, so no walking this morning again for us even though it`s mild, will look to see if we can get out this afternoon maybe, unless it rains of course! There`s a very good reason we have such green countries in the UK.

No real plans for today, yesterday was a busy one so maybe not much today, going to make breakfast muffins for us this morning, doesn`t take long to whip them up and another new tea this morning to try. my friend said I might find it too strong so not to leave it for long brewing, will take her advice. Had regular breakfast tea when I got up, very British way to start the day indeed.

Defrosting some steaks and plan to make burgers tonight as requested by Tom, will grind the meat down later when it`s ready and might them spicy and add jalapenos. Tom has a bun with his, I don`t, always find it too filling, will make triple cooked chips and whip up some coleslaw and a little dressed salad too.

Lunch is easy, brought out some sausage rolls, will just eat them on their own, so more of a snack lunch.

And almost finished my TR......finally!! It does take time and should have been finished by now, but as mac said earlier, life gets in the way sometimes.

Time for another cuppa before I pop the muffins in the oven.

Have a lovely Tuesday!!!

Ah that Tuesday is upon us, and commute into the city was quick enough, and seeing police with lights on, as I parked. Hmmm, well at least they are around in this very dark early morning. 22 degrees as I left the house. 24 outside says my phone as in office. Always a degree higher in the city, given all the buildings. But another glorious sunshine filled day today too. Liking to see the sunshine, as saying rest of week will be more cloud covered, with some rain chances on Friday now, and the snow to have said this coming Saturday is gone. Saying wall to wall sunshine for this coming weekend instead. Woot!

And a Tacos should be on the menu today, or at least a thought of one, as Taco Tuesday it is.

Great pictures you are stitching, Charade. Maybe a wall design for all the state ones. Use different frames to add interest. Plan on floor to see layout then hang.

Ooh as was driving late afternoon yesterday, moon looked so huge in the night blue sky.

Back to that screen I go. Sigh two more days of city. Good morning.

Good morning. I hope everyone is having a better morning than I am. I woke up around 5:30 with an upset stomach. I feel a little better now, but still iffy about going to work. I may just stay home and watch mindless TV all day. I just recently discovered that we get a bunch of Google TV channels. Lots of odd channels I didn’t even know existed including one that shows classic Doctor Who episodes all day.
Looks nice Charade.
Thank you.

I`m always amazed when flying over America and looking at the Skymap how many name places are the same in Britain. Even on your picture are Norfolk and Richmond, from Boston onward there are so many same names.
I’m rather amused that Americans fought for independence but still named several cities after places in Britain. I guess it was easier than trying to come up with something original.

Thanks Lynne. My main problem is finding the wall space. I don’t want to take down anything that we already have up. I told dh we need to buy a bigger house so we have more walls.

I’m going to see if my stomach will let me get back to sleep.

Morning all, will be tip toeing into 50’s today

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog :cool1:

Mr has errands today, drafted me as co pilot Have been hunkered down for days due to cold spell, time to leave my cave

I need to get cracking on making the halupki. My mouth watering just thinking about it. The mr, he who wasn’t raised eating it and doesn’t know what delicacy he’s missing, will get a burger tossed at him

Good day all

Had pork butt in the instapot on pressure for two hour then slow cooked for two days
Two days? Wow

Yes, RL does tend to rear it’s head with issues , usually when one is happily minding their own business. Come back & play

Indeed lol

Wanted to mention they looked scrumptious

Ugh, be well
including one that shows classic Doctor Who episodes all day.
Oh, that sounds like a perfect at home day to me

Did u see the Xmas special? Love mr tennant, jury out on the dr. NPH was fun to watch as toy maker
guess it was easier than trying to come up with something original.
I’m thinking it was romanticizing the stone sort of thing. Easy to be wistful from the motherland when outside its grip

Yeah, our state was named by an English guy, Keisha. My town name also is named the same name as a town in England. Original thinking? Why we have many roads named county line. Why? They really do go along the line between two counties. And our state has quite a few counties.

Oh Charade, I hope you feel better soon. Upset stomach not fun at all. Sending mummy dust well wishes to you.

Ah meetings in person today.

It is funny how so many names are identical, I quite like it as the UK and the USA are allies after all.

I always say we have a million channels to choose from with the options we have, and we end up watchig shows from years ago, Tom loves Dr Who, especially the older ones we all watched as kids.

Glad you`re getting out for a time, I googled halupki just to make sure, sounds nice, I`ve never done anything like that, least it`s not vine leaves, they always make me quite ill just looking at them, thank a horror movie for that too!! Burgers for us tonight too.

Thanks, those sausage rolls were very nice, I prefer them hot so do reheat them in the oven, but Tom is a fan of them cold.

History is an amazing thing and absolutely fascinating, but quite incredible the amount of names kept by America, like I said to Charade I kinda like seeing places I recognise and know well sitting in the middle of Boston or the Virginias, even Florida!!

Had our little Elise today instead of tomorrow, worked out fine, she just came with us when we went out, then home for some drawing, reading and the Minion movie. Dad dropped her off this morning and grandma picked her up after lunch. Eggy Bread for her with syrup for dipping, French Toast to most folks but she loves it. It was a lovely morning, she is a little chatterbox, but very funny with it, half term for her.

Did pick up a few things when we were out this morning, so shouldn`t need to go out tomorrow, but we probably will anyway.

Tom ground the beef for me, so mixed up the meat with some spice and seasonings, made the coleslaw and will make salad up before I serve dinner along with the chips and a store bought burger bun for Tom, not much cooking but nice all the same for sure.

Very breezy and cool out there now and to be colder by the weekend, more hibernating to come I think for us!!

Will go and make Tom a cuppa, he`s superglued to something on tv space related, that man does love his sci fi!! I`m sat on the sofa opposite him with headphones on listening to the 80`s channel till his show finishes, then music back on the kitchen tv!!

Tom ground the beef for me
What do you use to grind your meat?

Don’t like food processor results at all. I have attachment on kitchen aid, not fond of the grind size. I can’t find my mom’s old cast iron one that screwed on table. Newer ones not as sturdy looking

We have the English town names. A lot of “new” this or that

Lynne has her share out in eastern part of state too, it’s the Indian names that hone our reknown PA spelling skills. Spellings bees always a big deal here, we are decidedly old school

Allegheny, Aliquippa, Loyalhanna, Monongahela, schelocta…three words than rival Mississippi, as no cute sing-song to help remember: Youghiogheny, Punxsutawney & Connoquenessing

I’m now at that awkward stage where my stomach still hurts but it’s also growling. I think it’s a saltines and ginger ale kind of day. I’m actually out of ginger ale so I will settle for diet Sprite.

I need to get cracking on making the halupki.
I had to look that up. Looks interesting.

Did u see the Xmas special? Love mr tennant, jury out on the dr. NPH was fun to watch as toy maker
I did watch the Christmas special. The “regeneration” was really odd, but if it means there is a chance of seeing David Tennant as The Doctor again I am all for it. I will need to see the new Doctor on his own a few times before I make a decision. Hopefully the writing will be better.

Why we have many roads named county line. Why? They really do go along the line between two counties. And our state has quite a few counties.
Seems like that could get confusing.

I always say we have a million channels to choose from with the options we have, and we end up watchig shows from years ago, Tom loves Dr Who, especially the older ones we all watched as kids.
My husband will scroll through all of the channels and then usually end up watching Coos, Forged in Fire or one of the shows where they restore cars.
