Avatar experience coming to Disneyland

Hong Kong got rid of it in favor of an Avengers ride, not because the electric cars were unreliable. If anything, electric cars are far more reliable as there is less maintenance needed and less moving parts.
HK’s Autopia closed in 2016. The Avengers ride still hasn’t opened.

I have no memory of where I heard it. lol
If I remember correctly it was a podcast that was interviewing an imagineering type (possibly, ex) and they said there was a lot going on in planning for Tomorrowland, & it was bigger than we would expect.
BUT since I can't remember it might as well have been a dream. lol

My hypothesis: they will not spend a dime in Tomorrowland unless they have new IP they think they can monetize. They’d rather copy attractions they’ve built in other parts of the world in Disney Forward.
I'm thinking Avatar/Pandora has to do with DineylandForward, if they're going to do it right, & "Disneyland ‘Avatar’ Experience Will Be ‘As Amazing’ as Pandora – The World of Avatar" it would have to be in a huge area (bigger than anything they could make room for), like the parking lot north of Pixar Pier? ;)

Frankly, I don’t know how they get around Californi’s ban on small gas engines. Florida is considering same. I suppose they are grandfathered in somehow, but it eats up a lot of real estate, stinks to high heaven and is loud and noisy.

DAS FOP. Absolutely. Time your 2 preselects to be done while DAS FOP. We typically enter park, DAS FOP and make our way up to Safari and Lion King show and FOP before/after break then DAS everest.

My son is the one who will have DAS and FOP is not a ride he would do so we can't use it for that. Same with Everest. I think there are only 4 rides in AK that he will go on.

They aren't street legal or registered. ;)
And there you go…thanks for answer…but then again, neither are leaf blowers and lawn mowers and they are banned too, along with golf carts BEGINNING NEXT YEAR. So, you think they would be looking at the issue at least, and who knows, hopefully, they are. Would be nice to be able to hear and breathe over in that area…which I just avoid for those reasons.

Maybe because they never leave the rail? It's not like someone can use it to go down Harbor. :confused3

Not sure where this is, but i'm guessing it is only for new sales, they aren't coming to your home for your gas stuff.

The new CA law bans the sale of new gas powered equipment like leaf blowers and mowers. It doesn't apply to any existing equipment. I can't really see how it would apply to the Autopia motors anyway as there isn't a sales process involved.

Bottom line is considering Disney’s claims to be pro-environment and a leader in conservation and recycling, it is sort of like talking out of both sides of your mouth. They need to step up and go electric or get rid of them all together and put in a worthwhile attraction.

Do you think Main Street vehicles should be electric too?

Well, I’ve never seen an ELECTRIC horse…well, maybe on the carousel…🤣

The amount of time that those vehicles are actually on the street is so minimal compared to the number of cars/cycles on Autotopia. The vehicles are limited by parades, volume of guests on street, etc.

And while the horses have their own by-product, at least it’s organic.

Not really a fair comparison to the constant cloud of smog that hovers over Autopia coming from 50+ cars constantly belching exhaust.
No, I’m not comparing the pollution output, I was referring to “Disney talking out of the side of their mouth”.

I guess they could get rid of all the other vehicles and just use only horse powered vehicles.

For the record, I’m all for using electric vehicles in Tomorrowland as it would be fitting as future tech, but then they’d have to adjust the rest of the land from “mid-century” future tech to actual future tech.

While I assume it will be apart of Disney Forward

Stop talking about it until then.....because Disney Forward has to be able to be built or else...its all talk

Also if they wanted they could TODAY just start working on Hollywood and and make it Avatar but....they wont even if we have nothing big planned for DLR for 2025/2026 attraction wise

Ugh. This is such a bummer to me. Especially after finally making it back to WDW and seeing the Avatar land there. So....blah.

I want a Frozen themed land.
Or Encanto.

Or just about ANYTHING else!
I'm with you, ClaraOswald! I thought the movie was ok, but I don't really see why they want to make a land of it when there are so many other good choices.

I've always thought a general "Princess" land would be popular. Most of them don't have their own rides or attractions. Frozen would be great.
