how do you know the dates of the MNSSHP already??

Nothing is ever guaranteed but MNSSHP is typically always the same. Starts the 2nd week of September. Always Tues and Friday in September, adding Sundays starting in October. 9/26 is an educated guess.
We are SOOO excited for our Sept. 2014 Disney vacation. I am anxiously awaiting an announcement on Armed Forces salute 2013/2014 because we try to go with the military discount that Disney pretty consistently offers. I think they are going to announce something soon.
We have stayed at CBR twice and CSP once, so I am looking forward to trying something new with POR. We have been to Disney in late September, early December, and late February before. We have been to MNSSHP and MVMCP before.
Our kids will be 8 and 6. I am Disney obsessed and cant wait to go back "home" ASAP.

We are going this Sept and already planning in our minds for 2014. most likely first two weeks.
How are you guys booking? Making 200 deposit now and do you keep watching for specials as things get closer? Thing is we choose Sept mainly for FD. This always gets released in June. Or historicllay at least.
What are your game plans concerning booking/ specials.
Is it correct to assume andy package booked now will be rack rates?

Yeah there is no way you will get anything other than rack rates at this point. I am extremely spoiled with the military discount because it is usually announced for an entire 11-12 month time frame. If you are really going this September you should try for a bounce back offer. I think it is like 30-40% room rates. Book with that discount while on your trip (you must book before checking out) and then if FD is released MUCH later down the road, you can just switch your reservation to FD.

Hooray! I knew I wasn't the only Septemberer out there!
I really think you're going to like POR, ginnygi. It has a very laid-back feel to it, probably because of its spacious layout. I've only ever stayed in Magnolia Bend and usually request Oak Manor or Magnolia Terrace for their proximity to the main building, pool and bus stops. While I've never actually stayed in Alligator Bayou, the rustic theming seems pretty neat too.

No shame! Those room remods look beautiful!
Not sure where we're staying at this point. I'm a Fort Wilderness girl but that's a no-go if we are planning for FD. I know that several in our party are leaning towards WL but the rest of us are looking at settling into a moderate, value or FW cabin. We love our Disney nature!

We're planning a trip for Sept 2014. Not sure dates yet, but hoping for the 4th week of the month I think.

We are returning to WDW in September as well. Right now our dates are 9/9-9/15. I'm thinking about POR since it gives us a great opportunity to stay in Royal Guest Room and I think my daughter and son will love the water area and playground.
We hope to do MNSSHP and FD.
My husband and I have stayed at POFQ and WL in the past. We had FD each time. We would love to do a deluxe hotel again but it is not really in the budget with small ones.
We are also going to save $$ by not adding the park hopper/water fun option to our tickets, I think. Traditionally we've only ever visited one park per day and I think that it would overwhelm the kids seeing more than one per day. So we are going to make arrangements for dining options that correspond to the parks we are visiting each day.
And I don't think well do the water parks because we'll have such a great pool options at the resort.
Whatcha think?
It has been 7 years since our last trip but I am so excited to go. Already decided on a stroller rental since DD will be 5 and DS wills be 2. They both tire easily so got them a city mini.

I'm planning a trip for Sept 2014 to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Our actual anniversary is July 17th but we can't do mid summer! Too hot- we did it 3 years ago and swore we would not do summer again! Anyway, I'm hoping to get to do MNSSHP also. Not sure about dates. I'm hoping for FD so not sure about resort either! But I do know we are going and I'm sooo excited!
Do you know where you want to stay yet?
We are not doing park hoppers this time either. I do not feel it necessary. I want a more relaxed vacation this time around, so no park hopping for me. I am getting WP&M option, though. My kids loved Disney Quest and TL last time around, and enjoyed the minigolf too. We used it, so I think it was well worth the $$$. This time I would like to try BB.
Smart move on the stroller. I think you would be insane to attempt WDW without one with kids that age. I am kind of scared because my kids will be 8 and 6 this time; our first trip with no stroller. I personally think pushing them around is way easier than dragging them around the whole park all day.
