All Star Music vs Port Orleans French Quarter

I have a reservation at All Star Music for the end of September, I got a AAA rate for $59! I have stayed at All Star Sports and All Star Movies, and they were fine (But not GF or Yacht Club!) I have never stayed at a moderate resort, and recently saw on Mousesavers that rooms at POFQ are available for $89. Should I keep my reservation and great deal, or upgrade? Thanks for any tips!

The Music is ok, but in less you are booked in the Calypso buildings (Preferred Buildings), there is a chance you could get a room in like Country or Rock. Unlike the Movies or Sports, Music is laid out long, rather than spread out evenly. If you get a room in like the Country or Rock buildings, it is quite a hike to the main pool, foodcourt and bus stop.

If you can swing it, I would strongly recommend that you switch to Port Orleans French Quarter. This is my family's & I favorite moderate resort. It is the smallest of the moderates in size, so no matter which building you get put into, it is a very quick walk to the main pool, foodcourt and bus stop. I LOVE this resort!! I would request building #5 as it is the closest to everything, but again, it is a very quick walk no matter where you are. My family and I have stayed here several times and have never once had a bad experience. The buildings and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are slightly larger and the pool has a cool waterslide. Oh yeah, POFQ sometimes shares buses with it's sister resort POR, but the buses ALWAYS stop at POFQ first either picking up or dropping off. This is a great resort and think you would have a wonderful visit here.

I have stayed at both and very much enjoy either resort. If I had a choice for the same rate I'd stay at PO FQ just because it is on the smaller side from the ASMu and I like walking between PO FQ and PO Riverside.

For the diffrence of $30 a night? HMMmmmmmmmm ... its a near toss up for me. I might just split my stay between the two and average the differnce depending how long i'm staying. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong.

If you can afford it why not give a moderate a try? I LOVE the FQ. It is my favorite moderate. It is so relaxed and pretty.

If you have the opportunity to switch from AS Music to PO-FQ, then DEFINITELY DO IT!!!

PO-FQ is very quaint, quieter, the pool has a slide, you will also have another themed pool with a slide at your disposal, as you can use all of the amenities at PO-R, as well, which means a sitdown restaurant, and a lounge with entertainment. There is a boat to DTD from 4 pm until 11 pm, as well. There is only one bus stop at this resort, and the resort, itself is quite beautiful! We are staying there in October, and visited it when we were there last week. We were extremely impressed!

Go for it!!!!

It's good to hear so many people love POFQ, I was begining to think I was alone out here. ;) POFQ is the smallest moderate and it has alot of great things going for it, having stayed at AS Sports and visited Movies I still plan to stay in a Calypso poolside room at some point, it seems like it would be alot of fun. It's always a hard call to quanitify the differences with a dollar value. I would say they both have fun colorful pools. What you get for your extra money at POFQ is, a relaxed pretty setting for your hotel rooms away from the colorful pool area, nicely landscaped grounds with fountains, a small hottub, a poolside bar, river boat transportation to PORiverside next door and to Downtown Disney, the ability to sit down at a full service restaurant next door at POR, and the ability to rent boats at the marina at POR next door to cruise around the river. Of course you can still visit a full service restaurant or rent boats at any hotel regardless of where you stay. So compare the difference and ask yourself how much you care about the above. I think they are both great values at the discounted rates you mentioned.

I've stayed at both and Port Orleans is a MUST! It is wonderful! Very pretty, nice rooms (we had a corner room looking out over the river) and is close to everything.

You can walk to Dixie/Riverside in about 5 minutes. ASM is a bit loud. We were in Calypso so we were close but it is wall to wall kids. PO is more quiet, romantic and it has the coolest pool.

I'll let TERK-1 say it for me, because I couldn't have done it better!

I agree -- stay at the FQ if you can swing it. We've stayed over 8 or 9 times and always have had a good experience. Well landscaped, fountains, nicely themed pool....brand new food court .... close to DTD. I just posted a long piece on another post that asked a similar question. Might want to take a look at that. Can't go wrong with FQ, in my humble opinion, if you can swing it financially. If not, I'm sure you will also enjoy the All Stars.

I just stayed at PortOrleans French Quarters and at All Star Sports. I loved POFQ. The rooms are nicer than at All Star and are larger. The resort is very small and easy to get around. The pool at POFQ is very cool for kids with a great slide. If it is a matter of money then ALL Stars is great but if you can afford at least one night at PO take it. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Ditto-definitely stay at PO-FQ. The only All-Star I've stayed at is Music (wanted the music theme, since DS is a music major). PO-FQ is without a doubt worth AT LEAST the $30 more you'd pay per night. And I stayed in the Jazz section which has a courtyard which is supposed to be "similar" to the New Orleans style. PO-FQ is MUCH better.
