Another Midwest DIS Meet! Fireworks over MidAmerica

The rain was rapidly approaching after some pool time so we all decided dinner out was the right thing.
The Creek Pub and Grill had a good menu. Glenda got to try a "horsehoe". It's a central/southern Illinois thing. You'll have to Google it, but a layer of fries, a hamburger patty, some bread, all smothered in melted cheese.

The campground is nice. They had a lot of storm damage on Thursday. Mostly trees, but no power until yesterday mid- day. Still a lot of clean up going on, but they were welcoming.

Nice big pull throughs.

Took this before Jack and family made it in. They are on the site to the left.

Went to Springfield to see the Lincoln Museum. It has been raining off and on, but we still squeezed in some pool time. Sitting outside now enjoying the evening.

Here's the crew.

This evening we were all out looking for the pot of gold. This looks like the last of the rain for a day or two.

Today's adventures took us to the Lincoln Home National Historic site. This is a very nice reconstruction of the street where Abraham and family lived leading up to the presidency. Lots of history here told very well through the national parks service.

Then it was off to the Lincoln tomb. Abraham, his wife and three of his four children are entombed here.

The outside temps were quickly climbing so we decided to get some lunch and back to the campground for some pool time before our pot luck dinner.

I didn't get any pics of dinner. Hopefully Jack or Joe did. I was too busy cooking and eating.

A nice quiet day here in Spingfield. Most of the crew headed to the pool after lunch. We all went out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. We struck out at a few places. A lot of places closed for the holiday.

We found a place and enjoyed our food. Afterwards we went back to the CG and enjoyed each other's company. There was some dog park action and the kids are still playing at the playground.

Jim, the dog whisperer.

It was a nice lazy day.

The weekend was over too quick.

My crew got hitched up just a bit after 8. Storms were forecasted along our route home so we wanted to try to beat the rain or at least have plenty of time to deal with them.

We had an unremarkable trip. We made it home a little after 2. The camper was pretty much emptied by 3.

We did run into a snag. The anti-siphon valve under the kitchen sink crapped out last night so that made it nice and :crazy2: smelling in the rig. DS and I ran to the store, but our store doesn't carry them in stock. Amazon to the rescue. Glad that was the only rig issue for the trip.

Looking forward to the next time we all meet up.
