Best resort for non-park stay

Even though the MK resorts are really close to MK and it can feel awful NOT going to MK then, there is so much to do around there and it's easy to get around them. When we are doing a more relaxed stay with days off, we can easily spend a half day to a day at each of the resorts (BLT, FW, WIL, Poly, GF) - the theming is terrific at all of them, and they each have special events and meals that are worth a trip in themselves.

If I weren't in the MK area, though, I would pick AKV or BWV.

We’ve stayed at GF a few nights and didn’t do MK. We did do, however, the spa and lunch, walked over to POLY for drinks in the Tiki bar, rented a cabana by the pool for a day, took the monorail to BLT to see fireworks and jumped on the bus for a DS visit. Loved that trip!

Agree with AKL. There is sooooo much to do at that beautiful resort, and you really feel like you are transported to a whole other place. Our plan this summer is a water park/pool trip staying there (with the thought being that we won't be tempted just to 'pop over' to Epcot for a 'minute' lol).
