Best resort for solo traveller?

For my first solo trip I went with the cheapest room available ASMusic. I stayed at Pop with my family, and didn't care for the theme, but it was nice to walk to AoA. Next time I'll be staying at ASMovies. It's the exact same layout as all the other value rooms, but the prices is cheap and I like to try new places out.

I've stayed at 6 different resorts solo, from value to deluxe and DVC. My absolute favorite was BCV studios, like my own little apartment. However, if that's not available (or is prohibitively expensive), POR was also very nice. Before we joined DVC, that was where I always stayed when solo.

Thanks for the suggestions but as I said, im looking at values and moderates. Im leaning towards values thou. As much as I would love to stay at a deluxe, I just cant justify spending that much money just for myself.

I'm a pop century fan. I stay by the bowling pin pool. It's pretty quiet there and hardly anyone in the pool in the early mornings. It's just very relaxing. On my last trip, I met a woman in the pool every morning and we would chat. And for you...it is very budget friendly.

To be honest, when I've gone solo, I tend to use the room pretty much as a place to sleep, and that's about it. For that reason, I'll save some $$ and stay offsite and rent a car. I enjoy a little time outside "the bubble", maybe going to eat offsite, a quick trip to the outlets, etc. If you were to do that, keep in mind that you need to add the car rental in and parking @ $17/day...I get around that by having an AP. When it comes to family trips, that's when we consider staying onsite.

There are so many people complaining about the cost of deluxe rooms. How about Disney Vacation Club studios? Did you know you can rent from owners like me, and many others on the Dis, for less than a Moderate, and many times, even less than a value?

Is what you are saying legitimate? I would love to know more about this.

Pop is fine and I do love it.
It is has some of the best night lighting, the food court was pretty darn nice, and the transportation was wonderful.
the rooms are small, and the toilets are loud (or were)

Thanks guys. I think im just going to book whichever room is the cheapest. Right now on the disney website AS Sports is cheapest. That just might be the one for me! Its a nice small resort. I do love Pop but if Sports is much cheaper i'll just go with that. Cant resist a good deal. I'll only be at the resort to shower and sleep afterall. Thank you for all your help.

I am planning my first ever solo trip in May for my 50th birthday and I have been going back and forth on where to stay.
I'm only doing 4 nights and really wanted to stay at AKL because its my favorite but my family doesn't really care for it but just couldn't justify the cost for just myself. $630 less to stay at POP so that's what I booked. Ive stayed there before and really like it. I think for a solo traveler on a budget it's perfect!

Pop is a great resort! Very fun vibe. Plus they have one of the best poolside entertainment staff!

I was orginaally booked at Pop but decided to look into renting DVC points. Ended up at BLT for 4 nights. I could've done the new Poly studios but I got to thinking that being there by myself I really didn't want to be walking outside at night so thought that something that was all in one building might be better for me. I know Disney is safe but it doesn't stop me from getting the creeps!

hi everyone, :wave2:

Im taking my first solo trip at the end of October. This might be a silly question but I was just wondering what is the best resort for a solo traveller? Or is there such a thing? ha ha. I just thought some resort layouts would be better than others for a solo traveller. Im thinking about staying at the values, although i would consider the moderate level too.

Hello:

I too am doing my first solo trip in late Oct early Nov and I have always stayed with my former husband at PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER. At the end of the day its all about what you can afford. But even though I will be going during a low crowd season Im still going with POFQ because it has more of an adult feel than the value resorts will have. And yes I do know adult couples do indeed stay at value resorts but they are designed with families in mind. I love the location of POFQ... the ferry ride to downtown disney and the buses run so much more often at POFQ. I later heard that its because POFQ is one of the "smaller" resorts. Everytime my husband and I left a park after closing POFQ buses never had a super long lines and the buses always arrived quickly. The Moderate hotels have the adult feel and yet they still have the "family" feel that will resonate with children.

Hope you have a great time. If we go at the same time perhaps we can meet up for a meal or an attraction that we both favor. My estimated dates are oct 28 to Nov 4th.

In any event.. enjoy!

I stayed solo at Coronado Springs - great bus service, but I didn't like how spread out the resort was. Granted, it was partly because I was sick the entire trip, so I was walking a lot between the main building and my room to buy meds and cough drops.

I did a solo last November at Art of Animation and stayed in a Little Mermaid room. I love that resort so much! The only thing I didn't like about being solo there was being on the first floor and hearing everyone walk by my room at all hours, and hearing the golf carts delivering pizzas til midnight and delivering people's luggage late. I requested an upper floor, but I did online check-in, so I think I'd check in once I arrived and ask for the first available upper floor room. But I love that pool bar (and fun bartenders to talk to!), and it's great to walk around the different resort sections and take it all in, especially the Cars section at dusk!

I've been a Pop fan and I did go over and check out AOA when I was there last. It's really pretty, just so whimsical. On my first solo trip my plan is to stay there. While I would prefer to be on the monorail route, $ prevents that option. And AKL would be my very first choice if $ permitted, even if its the furthest away. But...once Avatar land is built, I will save my $ and stay there as a treat! I'm sure no matter where you stay, it will be magical!

I'm going on my first solo trip in September and am booking All Star Music, purely for the fact its the cheapest and as this isn't our main holiday and just a cheeky trip for myself I don't want to go crazy with cost and it's half the cost of a mod and as it's just me I figured I'll be spending very little time in the room so its just a place to sleep. I can't say I'm overly excited about my stay there as we normally book deluxe (i love having the balcony) but i'd rather a value than not at all :)
