DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

'Morning all...
And as Sheriff Bart noted: isn't it a lovely morning?

i wondered how long anyone would notice if my car turned south. Hmmm....
I think you should test that theory.

As for Epcot, it has just become the eating and drinking around the world for me. I think the new Soarin is not very good with the curved buildings. We'll do Test Track single rider if not too bad. So, we get Frozen Maelstrom as our one feature ride? Now, Ithink they did an excellent job with the conversion and I like the Let it Go song. But, when the other parks feature rides are Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, BTMRR, RnRC, Kilimanjaro Safari, or Expedition Everest, that's not a great comparison.
Yeah...
That pretty much covers it.

chatty Cathys I am trying to back read but find it better to just start off here.
We're chatty?
Us... over here?

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

As compared to what?

Well, given the fact you're even contemplating about it is a good sign you're feeling better!!!! :jumping1:

You just have to hydrate.

;)

Top O the Mornin Dads! Just working through the week here. Have a good one and to those dealing with this crazy heat, except CJ (more on that below), stay cool and safe.
Now, if in the not too distant future I happened to be escorting grand-young’ens around the park…
Well, that’d be a whole different ball game..
Agree and great point. May all of us be lucky enough to escort DGD's and DGS's same as we did our young'ens.
That frozen concoction
........that helps me hang on

Well I recall a certain reply when I asked you to take your weather back ..... "Suck it up Buttercup. Try that kind of weather for 4 months." Soooooooooo, why aren't you sucking it up :rolleyes1:laughing:

Remember how Jimmy Buffett sang that "I blew out my flip flop"? I didn't know what that meant until this vacation. For me, it was a croc shoe, but I blew it out and somehow rubbed a hole in my toe. I limped thru vacation and drank a lot of beer to make it through. Yesterday, it was red, swollen, and really hurt. I went to dr this AM, and both he and the nurse flinched when they first saw it. I'll post a picture of you want, but I doubt you want to see that. I now have an antibiotic for my toe. Another first at Disney for me. :lmao:

Now that sucks. We used to get the cheap flip flops and they could constantly blow out.

Loved the tagging video on FB. Has your daughter though about talking to/doing a youtube video for elementary and middle school kids. She's on a career path I know a lot of kids would be interested in, so she could probably offer valuable insight on thing to do/study in school or outside of school.

They go out into the community all the time and present to school kids. Some schools (if they pay the cost of the trip) go out on the boat and participate. Seton Hall is trying to find money to get her up there to be on a panel about the new coral reef movie and do shark presentations to a few classes.

I totally agree about Mark's parenting stories. They always make me laugh.

I've always said they should make it a sitcom with Barry's family playing the next door neighbors.

Thanks. As for Epcot, it has just become the eating and drinking around the world for me.

Same here. I'll do a few rides but spend most of the time cruising the countries.

Don't forget the campfire, sing-a-long and movie. You can bring your own fixen's for smores or you can buy them at the campfire. Double check me on this, it's been a couple of years since we did it.

And the movie. Good suggestion.

Well, given the fact you're even contemplating about it is a good sign you're feeling better!!!!

A little better. Making some navy bean soup to get some food in me.

Got a chuckle out of that. You know the adage, do as I say and not what I do. Did move some stuff out to the shed and reorganized it a bit but decided to screw it for today.

Day 3 on campus feature some nice surprises. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Apparently, there is some type of summer class going on today and since it is 94 degrees here, all the girls decided to wear their low cut tank tops, you know, because classrooms have no air-conditioning. ::yes::::yes:: :teacher:

Yes, it does. I had no idea how debilitating a toe injury was. :crutches:

Good Night from Kingsland. We didn't get to leave as early as we hoped and then hit traffic. We decided to sleep here rather than pushing for St Augustine.

That's great. We have some camps in NC that are run by UNCW's marine biology that are good at getting people into it. I was thinking about it because my intern is involved in a Women in leadership group that I know she gets a lot from. It seemed like I marine biology group ( gender neutral) would have a similar draw.

I'd watch that. Instead of a Wilson where you just see the hat you could have someone who you only see there crocs sticking through the fence.

Morning all. Last day on campus today ends at noon. I'll work at the church tomorrow. I'm missing my vacation time.

Been playing tennis each night this week, despite the toe. Haven't moved very well on the court, but still played ok. I guess I'm too old to actually recover anymore. :sad2:

Dan doesn't need to call it since he's enjoying the good life and good bars on vacation. You all have a great day.

Could it be even remotely possible you might by chance recover quicker if not playing tennis?

Top O the Mornin Dads and Happy Friday Eve! Just been dealing with crazy job stuff this week and doing my best to unwind at night after getting home. Thanks for the tip on Basil Hayden Norm - been enjoying that brand after picking up a bottle. Everyone have a good one.

I do however enjoy watching your vacation posts on facebook. DW and I have lived vicariously through your vacations on several times. There are a lot of portions of some of your recent trips that we'd really like to do.

Thanks, Ryan. I appreciate that. Hope you get the chance to take the family on some adventures!

Jungle conditions have set in down this way.
The moment you even open a door or window, your glasses instantly fog over.

Great, can't wait to visit!:thumbsup2

Everyone’s life should come with its own soundtrack.

Life is always better with a soundtrack.

I haven’t been able to get through the other Spidy films, so I can take it that this one if actually that much better?

As Jeff said, it has the Marvel feel to it now. They're just focused on fun.

Your stories about parenting are better than even insider knowledge of the parks.
(and considerably funnier)

Why, thank you, sir. The hope is always that someone will find it amusing.

I think that another difference is that out in the “social” world, things tend to be reactionary.
That is rarely the best way to carry on a conversation. Places like this offer a bit more room to think through an idea and write up a somewhat more reasoned response to whatever the subject might be.

More debate, less argument.

I purposely try to keep things light on FB for that reason. It's a terrible place to debate an issue. It turns into what I call "drive-by debates". Someone shows up, machine-guns their opinion on everybody else, and leaves.

It's the same here in eastern NC. I wore my jungle cruise socks to get into the mood.

Great, can't wait to visit!:thumbsup2

Thanks, Ryan. It's always good to know that my pain is causing others amusement.

I couldn't get through the Andrew Garfield ones. The first Toby McGuire ones were decent in my opinion. But I really liked this latest one. If you like Avengers and the Marvel movies, you'll like this one.

The only one I liked was the second Toby McGuire one. The third one of his was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen. And I couldn't be bothered with the Andrew Garfield ones, either. So that makes the new one my favorite!

I'm sure it would be. But then I wouldn't get to play tennis. I'm too old and too fat, and I have accepted I will never fully recover from any injury. So, I might as well enjoy what I can while I can.

You're welcome. It is a really good, smooth blend. I'm willing to drink it with you as well. :lmao:

Same here. Looking forward to Friday night so I can get a break. Heading out to visit my in laws Saturday night. It's a short one hour drive and I haven't been there since Easter so I can't complain. I don't mind going out there actually. They live in a small town and it's very relaxing.

If you could slightly trim back on the palm trees CJ, then I would have a full on Theme Park View. I can see the castle and the fireworks, but my view of Space Mountain is somewhat obscured. There's a good chap.
Evening boys from the world. Norm, missed you tonight mate, it was Backscrathers and Lapu Lapus at Kona.
Could be an expensive one tomorrow chaps, Victoria's and maybe signing the DVC papers.
I'll try and call it about 4 so everyone gets at least an hour off. Have a great evening boys.

I hope you realized I was teasing. I couldn't find a good smiley to put on that (hmmm...guess I need to see if there's a tongue sticking out one). Your toe hurts, but you're playing tennis, which aggravates the injury, so I found your comment about not healing funny. I do understand though...can't count the number of times I've played baseball or softball injured.

Dinner with Vickie & Al will certainly put a strain on the purse (we all know how they are).
You'll have to tell us what you thought about it.
As for DVC...
good for you if you can pull it off (curtianly wish I could.)

Call it whenever you get the notion, or just FedEx us some of the booze from the Kona.
I don't mind working a bit late if the proper libations are on offer.

Sad to say that Disney Legend Marty Sklar passed away at 83.

From the Disney Parks Blog: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2017/07/legendary-disney-imagineer-marty-sklar-dies-at-83/
Saw that this morning.
A loss to the creative world and someone who will be missed by many.
