Well, it's after Thanksgiving so officially we can decorate for Christmas. Now, to start that off you need a Christmas tree. For all the years of our children we have utilized artificial pre-lit trees. They are pretty, and have served us well. However, with our vaulted ceilings we have been using 8 and 9 foot trees, and they take up ALOT of room to store. Each year, more lights were out and you had to add lights to it. We decided to change gears. So we loaded up the 4 wheel drive diesel sleigh and headed off to Chunky, MS to the Lazy Acres Christmas tree farm.

You park up at main area and they bring you to the actual tree location via covered wagon.

You roam about until you find the one you like. After about 30 minutes we located the living room jewel!

DD did the selfie for us.

They cut it down and take it back up to the farm where they wrap it for you and load it up. You can take pics while they work. The farm has a lot of outdoor activities including a Christmas lights wagon ride. I'll post more in minute.

We got her home and stood up. Notice the television...

Then we cut the netting. Got a little trimming to do. DW had changed channel to one of my favorites too.

Next post I'll put up pics of the tour of the Christmas lights at the farm.

Lazy Acres has indoor and outdoor activities. They decorate for Halloween with a pumpkin patch (also do wagon rides to it) and a corn maze. They do Easter as well as Christmas. Indoors they serve food including burgers, corndogs, hotdogs, drinks, hot chocolate and a fried twinkie!

They have an indoor large Christmas village complete with train.

Outside is various buildings. They have live animals including goats, chickens, ducks.
Just a few of buildings:

This the jail.

There is also a doghouse.

Which comes with a dog who very much likes petting.

Next post is the actual wagon ride with lights.

The ride is about a mile. Various displays both wooden displays and lights.

That's quite the tree farm. We haven't gone real tree in a long time. Maybe if there was a place like this nearby we'd keep the pipe cleaner tree in the box.

We'll get the tree up Sunday when we get home, allegedly. Too dang much going on these days.

Looks like a great time for all with the exception of those 2 jailbirds. Did you leave them or did you "bail" them out? The night time pics remind me a lot of Dollywood......especially the lights in the trees.

Merry Christmas Michael to you and your family.

Steve

Me and my boys used to sell live/cut Christmas trees from North Carolina in a Hoover Target parking lot up near Birmingham every Christmas. It was a fundraiser for our Boy Scout troop. So not a farm but the trees (when they arrived Thanksgiving week) were only a few days from being fresh. Putting a "fresh cut" on the bottom for folks, putting new trees out, and (especially) lifting those 8 footers UP ON TOP of the suv and securing them for folks was work. So I'm glad you got to go out and get yours the way you did. Me, it cured me of live trees.

DW got a skinny 9 footer artificial about 2 years ago which goes better in our downsized living room.

But from the pics, Michael, it looks like a wonderful opportunity for family memories.

Ed

PS - thanks for the train pix. 🚂

PPS - those two convicts in the jail picture, the one on the right looks guilty of .... something .... don't know what it is though.

Yes, I had to bring them home. I begged for a break, even offered them as pot scrubbers in the kitchen, but they wouldn't have any of it.

Ed, Madison looks like her mother but acts like me. I'll let you do the math, but you'll need all the fingers and toes.

A little background first.
My wife and 5 year old son say I am a Disney fanatic and not normal, guilty as charged! I bought a Mini Cooper to pull behind our motorhome when we go to Orlando. So far I have a Mickey antenna ball, sunvisor and a Mickey sticker on the back of the car. They talk smack but we are in the process of making a Disney/ Mickey Mouse tree! We are in the trial and error mode at making our own Mickey/ Minnie/ Disney decorations. I just ordered a 50th anniversary monorail to go under the tree, I'm sure I way overpaid on an eBay one but it will be a great addition.

I like the name lazy acres, lol. "They drive you to the tree then you watch them work." Perfect!

I have fake trees, and yes this year wanted a 9 foot one, but alas, no more at costco 3 weeks ago. So we went with the regular 7.5 foot tree. I agree that 9 foot one would be heavy and bulky. I may have lucked out by them not having the bigger tree! I'll shoot some pictures when I get some more extention cords from amazon. I seem to have lost mine in the camper. We did upgrade the outside stuff with smart plug adapters, so they go on and off at the same time. The old style timers worked, but depending on the sun and settings half the house would be lit up and the other half woyld come on 30 mins later.

The tree is nice, ot changes colors, and intensity. So you can have it white, muti and dim or bright. We usally make something for outside each year, or add some lights. Unfortunately, if I keep doing that I will have way too much stuff. We will see. I have a few ideas, and bought stuff to make it. Just need time and incentive.
