Eh, the machos had a good run. Time for dainty things. 😂😂

Personally, we liked the wings at ESPN. We’d usually go for lunch during the week & it wouldn’t be busy at all. We did watch a hockey playoff game our team was in, that was packed & fun. Plus I stopped by one year & hung around the outside where they had tables set up for watching the Super Bowl. So we will miss it too. But, I can’t wait for the Cake Bake Shop to open. The menus for other locations looks so good, I’m sure I’ll want to eat there every trip. And who doesn’t love cake? :goodvibes

I'm gutted (pun intended!). We loved ESPN Club - such fond memories of watching games with DS there. I have to admit, though, I love a good cake, so I'm kind of looking forward to the change . . .

I got the impression ESPN Club was only busy at very selective times, not all year. Should be interesting to see if cakes, on the BW (where it can be tough to drive and park, or get there by Disney Trans), will do better. I'm sure the initial novelty will keep it busy for a bit- but will that last? I'm more ticked Ample Hills is gone!!!!

Agree. As BWV owners since '98 we always started our vacations by having lunch at ESPN prior to our room being ready, so we have good memories of the place, but it really was just mediocre bar food. From what I've read, the Cake Bake Shops are much more than cake, just like Cheesecake Factory serves much more than cheesecake. The CBS menus at other locations look quite extensive and much more varied and interesting than bar food so we're looking forward to the change.

CBS is very expensive and the cake is just cake, nothing special. But many rave about it and both stores in IN are always busy. Not a fan!!

Agreed. DS did her undergrad at IU and heard so many talk about the one in Carmel. We made the trek up there the summer before she moved for grad school. It was clearly the spot for ladies who lunch (maybe we should have chosen the Indy location instead). It was fine but not even close to as good as people made it out to be. I was certain we’d be leaving with armloads of treats. We didn’t even leave with a doggie bag. I hope they’re ready for people in tank tops and flip flops and not people trying to outdo one another in their finest Vineyard Vines.

Idk I always thought Ample Hills sounded like the name of a porn actress ... I am fine with generic Boardwalk Ice Cream ......

I only ate at ESPN once. I remember the atmosphere as loud and the food as average. But I get that it's disappointing when Disney drops a favorite restaurant (I still miss Alfredo di Roma).

The Cake Bake Shops are definitely sparkly and the ambiance is as much part of the experience as the food (which is why we've always said that Cake Bake would be a perfect fit for WDW). We live between the two Indy locations so we usually have an occasion every couple of months or so to frequent them. We actually prefer their savory items to their baked goods. The men in the family are always willing to suck it up and brave the frills for the rosemary goat cheese quiche and the chicken velvet soup. So you might give it a try. Who knows? It could be a new favorite.

Have gone to WDW for years and never stopped at ESPN. Not sure what is replacing it is a good option for that area. Hoping for the best.

We stay at boardwalk every trip. Unless there is a big game ESPN club was always empty. We always wondered why they didn’t do something else with space (same with the Atlantic Dance Club). I’m happy to see something else going in. I hope they are open for lunch. I can’t wait to try it.

Ate there once - worst food I ever had anywhere at WDW. Terrible service and so loud. We only went there because it was late-ish and very little was open and I was hungry. I think I could have had a better hot dog at a convenience store - yuck. We made sure never to go again so I am quite happy to see it go.
