First time staying off property

Looking for resort recommendations. We are used to staying in Deluxe Villas at Disney but will have our car with us this time so are hoping to try something off property since we will also be visiting Universal for the first time.
We would need a resort that has 2 and/or 3 bedroom suites as we have a larger family. I would also like to be similar in feel to Disney deluxe resorts/villas as we prefer something quieter and more upscale feeling.
Most importantly though....CLEAN.

Thanks for any suggestions in the area, even a vacation home suggestion would be fine. We are looking for next month sometime.

Marriott, Hilton, and Sheraton all have timeshare resorts with at least 2BR (and often 3BR) units located between WDW and Universal. If you want to be closer to Disney, consider Vistana Resort, any of the three Palms resorts at Marriott World Center, or Hilton Tuscany. If you want to be more in the middle between the two, consider Vistana Villages, Marriott Cypress Harbour, Grande Vista, or Harbour Lake, or Hilton Sea World. Hilton Park Soliel might also be a good match, but it's kind of in the middle of nothing right now.

Agree with above. Just check for resort fees at some (notably Hilton) so you're not caught by surprise. The S. International Drive location is pretty central to both WDW and UO and that's an area where you'll find several Marriotts, Hilton GVCs, and similarly upscale villa (timeshare) resorts.

Our offsite go-to is booking a 2 or 3 bedroom suite at Wyndham Bonnet Creek on eBay. We've booked under $100 per night (all costs included) for some trips.

If cost is not an issue, have you considered a suite at one of the Universal premiere resorts? They include unlimited express passes. We enjoyed Portofino Bay in a standard bay view room but have not tried the other properties yet. The prices will be Disney-like for the US suites at premiere resorts. It is very convenient to walk to the properties and City Walk.

Offsite near Disney we have stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek in a Presidential suite. It was very affordable, convenient to the Disney parks, and my kids loved the lazy river.

Service at US hotel as well as WBC was just as excellent as at any Disney property.
