Hey WISHERS,

In discussion with another WISH team member (DianeL) we thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for Goofy Challenge folks for 2010. It might be a good place to keep track of who's doing the Challenge, talk about their training, share their plan, how many challenges this will be for you, or you know to see that others are just as goofy as you are :goofy:..... You know a Goofy Support Group!

Any other things that may come up, Rumors, etc. For example I read they are having a new goofy medal and they are doing something special for the "Perfectly Goofy" (Doing all 5 Goofy Challenges)

I will keep the list in the second post so I'll quickly reserve that post. :thumbsup2

Hi Goofy Challengers!

I wish we had this thread for my first try, I needed it!

I want to wish you all good luck as you start your training. I passed on the Goofy this year because I had two amazing experiences and didn't want to tempt fate.
(Actually, I passed on all the Disney Races in favor of going to France to see the Tour de France. Dh and I have been watching the tour since we had to set the VCR for the 3am broadcasts!)

The biggest trick to Goofy is your recovery after the half. I suggest you experiment early to learn what works best for you so you can tweek the recovery plan during the serious miles later on.

I am so excited for you! The Goofy Challenge weekends were two of the best times I have ever had! (even with the ice baths)

I'm in! My first Goofy! I'm shooting for 3:25 for the half and 6:55 for the full.
 
I'm in! This will be my 4th Goofy (although I DNF'd 2 of the fulls :mad:).

I'm hoping to finish the 1/2 in 3:00 and the full in 6:30

DH and I are both doing the Goofy.

I am hoping to finish. At this time no time that I am shooting for however as training goes on that might change but right now we are just aiming to finish ahead of the sweepers;)

Cecilia that's exactly what I was thinking. It sure would have been nice last year during my first to have a thread like this. Heck this year I feel like I need it more than last!!! Congrats on the two you have Finished. :thumbsup2 Awesome!!!
 
I am signing up today!!! this will be my first marathon and my first Goofy:scared1: (and yes I am aware that this is a little Goofy in itself :lmao:) I am going to need all the support I can get but I am sooooo excited about doing this :cool1: Although I do keep flashing back to a WDW trip in Jan 2008 and I didn't even know about the WDW marathon and I saw the Goofy shirts and researched it a little and I do recall saying to my Dad "those people are crazy, you would never catch me doing 39.3 miles over 2 days" :rotfl: Oh well never say never right!

My aim is to finish & survive :thumbsup2 if I were to set a time I would say 3.00 for the half and 6.30 for the full but that might be slightly optimistic!

Cant wait to see you all at the finish line (I will be the person who doesn't have the strength to keep those fancy medals on her neck :lmao:)

I'm in for my first Goofy. I'm not sure of finishing times because I have no idea what I'll feel like on day 2. Put me down for 2:45 for the half and 5:30 for the full, but I may have to ammend that once I start official Goofy training sometime after my fall marathon.

I'm in for the Goofy, it will be my first. Can't remember exactly what I put down for my expected times, but I'm aiming for something around 2:15/4:30.

As an 8 time Halfer and never done a Full - I will be there to support you all in your quests to be as GOOFY as possible!!! I will be volunteering for the Full so I will cheer you on and encourage you all as much as humanly possible.
(if anyone needs me to get out the Noodle I will do so without hesitation!)

I'm going Goofy as well (I reserve the right to continue blaming Kim). First one for me too!

Expected times: half 3.00, full 6.30. Hoping to improve on those but that's where I am now.

hey guys could do with a quick question answered :goodvibes does anyone know what the shirts sizes run like i.e big/small/regular. I am registering now and I really don't want 3 shorts that don't fit me :lmao:

When I did the marathon in 2008 I thought the shirts ran large (long sleeve tech shirts). I did the Minnie marathon 2008 and I thought they ran small (short sleeve tech shirts). I'm sure that does nothing to help you. Sorry.

it helps a little thanks Cindy :goodvibes I did the minnie and I thought they were very small, then I did the princess and they seemed to run to size, but the Marathon is aimed at men and women which is what is confusing me a little will they be in mens sizes?

Also I just read that if I do the Goofy I have to prove my time, is that only if I run faster than 2.45 and 5.00? or is that for all Goofy competitors? Sorry about the millions of questions! I get like this when I am nervous and excited :cool1:

1st Goofy
Half: 3:20
Full 6:30 (though the plan is to FINISH but I'd like to make 6:30 or under)

I can do a Half in less time so my plan is to kick back and enoy the day and well GOOF off and get photos. Pester team mates along the 13.1 miles :rotfl: Sing and Dance :dance3: well maybe not dance because I could get an injury and singing might get me escorted of WDW property. So perhaps I will just smile, talk and walk in a straight line :laughing:

Chris? What took you so long to start the thread? I looked last night and figured you were slacking off :lmao:

Kirsty the shirts are MENS. Long sleeve (now watch them change that) and I usually order a Large and I tend to wear a ladies Large or XL. I like it roomy though.
 
If you planned on finishing in I think it's under 2:45 for the Half (sorry tired and can't recall the Full) you need to submit proof. I think I put something like 3 hours for the Half and 6 1/2 for the Full and I haven't been asked yet. Though I am running the risk of being put in the last start corral but we all are unless you have proof time that will get you moved up to the front. Now I've yet to submit proof (heck haven't made it yet!) and haven't been in the very last corral since 2006
