Hi all,

Hoping that you can please help. Up until now I've planned quite basic trips within our April use year - we are from the UK so don't come every year. I'm planning something that involves banking points from one year to use in the next, as well as borrowing from a year ahead...

We are looking to book two trips, WDW next Sep and then our Honeymoon in May 2026... Wondering if this plan below makes any sense to anyone and if it's even possible as I am confused if I can even use 2024,2025 and 2026 points for a 2025 trip. and 2027 points for a 2026 trip. I have an April use year so when would each year's points be available to unlock? e.g. April 2026 points unlocked in April 2025?

Someone please help - much appreciated!

By banking your April 2024 points that puts them in 2025, so use by March 31, 2026.
Adding those to your April 2025 points, you have 249 points.
Borrowing 102 points from 2026 gives you 351 for the September 2025 trip.

You'll get 73 points in April 2026, to use by March 31, 2027.
You can borrow 154 points from 2027 to complete the required 227 points for the May 2026 trip.

So, it appears your plan works.

amazing, thank you so much for verifying - found the whole thing so confusing!!

It doesn’t seem to work for Sept but will for. May. Here is how I always figure…I start with the UY of the trip…then I know I can use banked points from the UY prior, points from the UY of trip, and borrow from UY after trip to finish.

Your Sept 2024 trip is in your April 2024 UY…you can use banked 2023, 2024 and borrow 2025.. So, your 74 2024 points and 175 2025 points csn be used, that only gives you 249…that is not enough to cover Sept 2024 trip.

For May 2026 trip, you can used banked 2025, 2026 and borrow 2927 since that is in your April 2026 UY. Even if you borrow all 2025 for September, you’d have 175 2026 and 175 to borrow from 2027.

ETA: the chart says you want to travel Sept 2024….or is it 2025? That makes a difference.

I think in the first chart you mean Disney World Sept 2025? Or are you going THIS Sept in 2024?

The easiest way I’ve found to plan is by starting with the actual dates.

Then see what points can be used for that specific date.

You might want to try making a simple spreadsheet. There are models posted in various threads here on DISboards. Here's a snapshot of mine:

I have a formula built into the Balance column so it does the arithmetic for me, but you can do it manually too. As Sandi says above, I find that writing down the dates of the trip into the correct UY is the important step. Then you know you can use points banked from the previous UY, points from the UY the trip is in, and borrow points from the UY after the one the trip is in.

So this snapshot starts in Jan. 2023, which was in my Sept. 2022 UY, and I had to borrow 63 points from 2023 to pay for that trip, leaving me 237 points in Sept. 2023, which I banked into Sept. 2024 and will use to pay for a trip in Jan. 2025. I'll have to borrow 50 points from Sept. 2025 for that trip as well, leaving me with 250 points I can use in my Sept. 2025 UY, or borrow into my Sept. 2024 UY, or bank into my Sept. 2026 UY.

I tried to make an example using your data above, but I wasn't sure of it, so I thought I'd use my own data instead. Hope that helps!

Sorry yes you are correct, my error - WDW in Sep 2025. Honeymoon in May 2026 - I’ll amend the original post!

Yes sorry - WDW in Sep 2025, honeymoon in May 2026...

So here is my balance:

Does my logic make sense below? Obviously the 2026 trips are working off 2025 points charts for now so would bear that in mind.

WDW 2025 trip:
Bank the remaining 74 points from 2024 to use in 2025.
Use the entire 175 2025 points.
Borrow 102 of the 175 2026 points.

Honeymoon 2026 trip:
For Disneyland - use 66 of the 73 remaining 2026 points.
For Aulani - Use the 7 remaining 2026 points and borrow 154 points from 2027.

21 2027 points remaining.

Is Riviera your home resort? If so you will have home resort advantage for only one of your vacations.

I'm not sure what the odds are of getting BWV in September - lower point month, it would be tough *this* September and we are at your 7 month time frame if I counted the months correctly. However, Riviera is gorgeous and a good choice. I've enjoyed two short stays there.

The other two choices I'm not familiar with.

Good luck!
