I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

In response to my own question from yesterday...ps just got instant approval for a 5th active Ink card. I feel like I am pushing it LOL, but hey, instant approval, I will take it.

I think I will close one or two of the older ones next week. We don't need that many at all.
Congrats party:

Depending on when you’re going the central grocery may not be open. We visited over Easter and it was a shell for a building. They are working on it but last I heard was a few months till they’d be ready to open. They were selling their muffulettas at a few locations across town.
Thanks for the heads up. We'll be there 2 weeks from today. I checked their website and it looks like the wine shop next door is selling their muffuletta

I'm kinda in shock -- was able to get 2 tickets (there were plenty) for the U2: Achtung Baby show at the Vegas Sphere for December! I picked a mid-week show (we have total flexibility now that we're retired from out professional jobs), maybe that was it!

So, we have NEVER been to Vegas and now we're going in December! We've got RR points that can get us there, but I have no idea where I'd want to stay. We don't have Hilton status (we've got IHG points and UR and MR) and I'm not sure I'm up for all that status matching y'all talk about! My guess is we'd only stay in Vegas for 2 nights and maybe go somewhere else for a few days.

Anyone have a suggestion for a, say 4 night trip to Vegas with 2 nights elsewhere? In Early December? lol

Former Vegas resident. I'm partial to the Palazzo over the Ventian. You can snag that w/ IHG points. You'll have to look on the Intercontinetal site vs IHG normally. Just know, December is NFR. So even weekdays, rooms will be $$$$. I had to graduate on the baseball field because NFR took over the Thomas and Mack. There is a Westin Bonvoy that is near the Horseshoe (Bally's) mid-strip. It's where my BF stays (and actually will be tomorrow night, LOL). It's not bad. As far as Hilton's....there is Resort's World, you'll need to uber from there or have a rental car. There is a Waldorf, and a few other hotels down by MGM. That is the opposite end of the strip from the Sphere. But you can walk it (I have several times) or use the monorail. There are LOTS of cheaper rooms to be had at places like Flamingo and Linq. Stay away from TI, etc. There's a great Tik Tok, Vegasstarfish. She has lots of good advice.

I was supposed to be heading to SC tonight to see Jimmy Buffett this weekend. My BFF lives in CHS. She works PT at a Hilton and snagged us a hotel room. We were going to non-rev to MYR but I had back up flights on Delta for my daughter, and AA for both of us if we didn't get on tonight. This trip/concert was going to be in lieu of prom for my daughter. And then we found out Jimmy was in the hospital :( Jimmy is 1.5 years older than my dad. I know the end to his touring is coming....but if I was to lose Jimmy within a year of my dad, I would lose it. On a side note, my dad's birthday is coming up 5/29. I know I've gotta take advantage of any shows I can attend this year! Instead I'm in cold rainy Michigan :(

On Tuesday the BF and I did a non-rev day to PHL and drove to AC to do all the casino matching. So now I need to see about booking the 2 free nights at the Wynn :) Oh and the free 7 night cruise. Maybe that can be my present to my daughter, LOL. I also hit my spend on the Wyndham Biz card. So I guess time to get a new card.

Booked our 4 FNC for the Royalton in Cancun again for next month. So I'm excited for that, and need it after the hell school is putting me through right now.

WWYD? I have 2 nights booked at the Palazzo in July. I booked them during black friday. So it's $200 for the 2 nights. Would it be worth swapping to use the FNC I have expiring in August? I'm not sure when I might use the FNC or where before it expires.
Just sharing another DP that I was approved for the Hilton biz card with 150k HH +FNC (no popup) after previously having that card for one year in 2021 and closing the following year. Just shy of two years since last the same card. Popup on support link but successful with DoC link. Thanks @wanderlust7, I think you had a similar situation.
Wait? WHHAAAAT? I got the HH Biz card in 2019, cancelled in 2020. I'd love to try for it again. I'm a sucker for the Hilton FNC and the points (even though I have hilton go, LOL). I was looking for a new card. Maybe I'll test my luck. Hmmmm. Though Hilton loves to give me the pop up!

Well I applied for the Hilton Biz via the DOC link. No pop up! I opened it in 11/2019 and closed it at the year mark. I feel that was what sent me into pop-up hell. I've had the Apsire (closed at 1 year), and currently still have the surpass and honors card. I make sure to earn the FNC every year w/ MS on the surpass to earn at least one FNC. This will get me another....I'll have my BF get a card for another, and there are our 3 nights in PDC for Feb, LOL. Plus enough points w/ the SUB for 2 nights there on points.

WOOOOO!

Oooh how fun! I'm trying to wrangle my siblings to see them play - it was my, my sister's, and my brother's first concert (Joshua Tree, 1987). We stayed at the Waldorf this summer for one night (80k HH points) and it was lovely. Very serene, nice location on the strip. It doesn't have a casino so keep that in mind if its important to you but very easy to walk to restaurants and shops. Loved the beds and the bathroom. We had dinner that night at the Venetian and walked the strip back - its doable, visually stimulating, seedy, but so much energy and eye opening for my kids (not gonna lie, me too :o.) Other times I've stayed at Mandalay Bay, which I love, but that is the absolute other end of the strip.

Another car rental question - rates have gone down some and I'm trying to decide what to rebook our June rental to. Does anyone know if you can/how to skip the rental counter when booking through the UR portal? Is it possible? I don't see a way to add a loyalty number when booking, and so I'd need to be able to go into the reservation and add it after I assume. The companies I'm looking at are National, Budget, and Alamo. Alamo's always been my favorite, but of course they're the most expensive. Usually we booked with Costco or directly with the company, but I want to take advantage of having the 1.5 CSR value. Thanks for any input!
I booked through the portal for my recent car rental with National at SFO and had to go the counter. If I'm remembering correctly, there was a spot on the booking page to add my National number, but I don't think that actually did anything because the rental doesn't show in my National account.

Can someone remind me...what does the 'popup' look like when app'ing? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get it, and I don't want to foolishly go ahead with an app that won't get me the bonus....

What is the “popup”and when do you get it?

When you hit apply, a box pops up that says something like You may not be eligible for this bonus, do you still want to proceed? You have to agree to get past it. Other than a card you have before, no one knows exactly why you get the pop up. You may not spend enough on the Amex cards you already have, may have too many cards, may have closed too many cards or too soon. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I messaged Amex this week to close my Brilliant and there were no retention offers on my account. I guess that’s ok, even if there was an offer that AF is just crazy. That will open up an Amex slot for me.

I accidentally forgot to close my Hilton Biz card in December like I had planned so I figure I might as well try for the FNC so I’ve been putting as much spend as possible on that. Interesting to know it may be possible to get another bonus on this card though at some point.

Instant approval on a new CIC this morning using P2 support. Feels good!

If you’re planning to use an Amex airline credit for Southwest soon, flyer talk is reporting longer than usual tracker and credit timing. You might watch that just in case. I used it earlier this week and my tracker hasn’t changed yet. Reports on FT show over a week with no tracker movement yet. Hopefully no problems on the horizon.

Congrats! I am going to slow walk my MSR on this and P2's no fee card so that I can extend out the issuance of the FNCs. I know we won't use them this year, so if I wait until early August to meet MSR and then it takes 8 weeks to issue, hopefully they'll be good through October 2024.
I just jumped on that Hilton Biz bandwagon. I had the card previously and closed it - maybe 3 years ago. I didn’t get the pop up, but I also didn’t get instant approval. Just got a “we have received your application” message.
I feel like it said something like that for me, but then bumped to another screen that said approval. I would check your emails to see if they sent anything.

I saw DPs on reddit about current holders of the card getting approved. So it would be nice to shift your spend over to a new MSR instead. 😁

I had the same experience. I feel like my tracker changed but it took at least a week if not more for the credits to actually appear.

The FNC should post when the points post, soon after MSR. Hope you can make the timing work.

I had to google NFR — it’s a Rodeo thing? :). Looks like that starts the day AFTER the U2 concert, so maybe we’ll get lucky for the nights we need. Thanks for the info!

I am going to 2nd this. IME the FNC that is part of the SUB has posted within a couple of days of hitting the spend.

I messaged AmEx about a retention offer. There was none. Nada. Only to downgrade to an Amex green with an AF of $150. They also said if I closed it I would forfeit my MR’s. 🥲 Guess I’m keeping the Gold.
