Internet while at sea

Check out Skyroam, it's a internet hotspot device that works in over 140 countries on the CELLULAR network while in port, I have one and used it on the recent Westbound Pamana Canal Cruise this past April, one time cost for device $99 (you can find it discounted online to around $79) plus "day passes" sold in bundles of 5 and 10 days for $8 per day, for 24 hours of unlimited data. It isn't intended for Skype or streaming use however it will support Apple talk calls. It is a great alternative to onboard data. No monthly fee's just the day pass cost, and once you use it, no costs until you activate another day pass. Just remember this is for use while in port, not at sea.

Just do it on the app. But do it before midnight or you lose out. Even if you're not sure you'll use it, sign up for it, just in case.

I typically go through a 1 GB package on a week long cruise to check work emails, facebooking and checking sports scores. It is plenty as long as you avoid downloading pictures or watching videos. It's $13 a day which is comparable to hotel wifi. Also FaceTime works and doesn't use a lot of data.
