March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

We had same issue. Not happy with the way American Airlines handled things. We rented a car and drove straight through 24 hours. So glad to be home after that. It was nice meeting you. :)

We have not even made it home yet! Our flight out of Burbank was cancelled last night and the earliest any airline out of any of the S. Cal. Airports could get us to Tulsa was late Tuesday night. So, we are in the process of driving cross country. We are currently between Flagstaff and New Mexico. We have had some rough weather for the drive.

The chairs fell into the audience and hit a woman that I work with... I didn't even know she was on the cruise until we met on the airplane heading home. Her leg was all bruised from the chairs, she was just happy they didn't hit her 5 year old grandaughter who was sitting beside her. She was being transported in both airports by wheelchair.

Thank you to everyone in the Yellow fish extender group, we loved all the treats and gifts. It was such a treat to come back to little treasures every time. DS loved running down the hall to check on the status of his pocket!

Glad to hear she is doing okay. We saw her leaving the ship that morning. She seemed better than the night before. It was a nasty bruise. My son was the other one that was hit by the chair. He is doing okay. Still hurts him to put all his weight on his left leg.

We started out our drive out of Burbank around 7-8pm. We only made it to Barstow before we had to stop from exhaustion and we could not see the road due to the rain and fog. We got into Tulsa at 5:00am this morning. It has been a long couple of days.

Did you hit the snow storm going through Flagstaff?

Great meeting you too!

Meredith

We booked March 11, 2012 on the Wonder again. But we also booked an extra stateroom for my in-laws. They are HUGE Disney fans and have never cruised before. We're not telling them until Christmas.

Now I think I'm going to hit up Dicecatt to be our Travel Agent for this one. Looking at her photos on Facebook, it looks like she had a blast on the cruise.

You're lucky. They closed I-40 between Kingman and Flagstaff for a while Sunday night, due to a fatal accident. Someone slid off in the snow and didn't make it.

Yes!
By the skin of our teeth....
We arrived early Sunday morning.
We had so many "almost" trip nightmares this cruise including ALMOST missing the last tender in Cabo on Friday. Did you hear they left 6 family members behind? We were with the wife and her young baby. So sad. But Disney did not wait. We came within minutes of missing it ourselves.
But it was still an amazing time.
We are on the plane right now back to Buffalo, then over the border to Canada.
we spent 2days at the GC resort in Disney and visited the parks. What horrible weather on Sunday!
I was sorry I didn't get to meet everyone. Meridith, it was great to meet you and share the excursion with you and your family. For those that were held up by our late arrival, I apologize!!

Besides Nov. Did anyone book for next march? We did ( for now) but might move it to new years 2012.

We did not do a booking on this cruise as we did one on our last cruise that is
booked for a dummy date for Nov. 2011. I need to decide what to do or cancel it. We took the plunge and bought into DVC this cruise so not sure what we are going to do for our trips from now on.

Great meeting you too! The zip lining was great! So glad you finally looked down. It was an amazing view.

That is horrible! I was saying that very thing to my husband. I was the one driving during the snow and the mountains. I said what worried me is that if the car skidded, there was not much keeping it from going down the mountain. Not like around here where you can run off the road and get stopped by something.

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone is home, or almost home, I had a client with an issue that ended up getting on a flight on Monday (was supposed to be Sunday) and had like a 12 hour layover in Phoenix with two small boys, I bet that was fun. The people I was traveling with were all flying standby...one got out yesterday...the others flew to Fresno for the night on Monday and flew home yesterday. At least the travel issues were on the way home, not the way there!

Our flight was originally Monday night, so it was fine...we had nasty weather in LA but did squeeze in an hour of sunshine in Venice Beach on Monday before our flight (after already getting soaked of course).

This cruise was really fantastic...I count it right up there with my Med which will forever be my measurement of enjoyment. We had SO much fun. And I enjoyed just about everything...we had great servers, great stateroom attendant...great FE gifts...I enjoyed the shows, especially the hypnotist, one of my travel companions was in the adult show and I cried I laughed so hard. Sadly efforts to hypnotise me failed but I tried, I was one of the two during the family show they escorted back off the stage. I thought Alfred and Seymour were great, and saw Golden Mickeys for the first time (I know that is weird) and DD5 was one of the dwarves!

I also enjoyed meeting several of you on this board...I felt like I was in a big friendly community all week...I got to know so many random cruisers and felt this was one of the "nicest" cruises I've been on...less pushy people, more friendliness. And I am thoroughly enjoying all the facebook photos and trip reports on here! I'm working on mine, I have so much that I'm wading through all the photos.

Just wanted to say, this has been one of the very best cruise meet threads I've participated in...truly nice people...so thanks for adding to the cruise enjoyment!

Wow - the flight issues are all over the place - what a mess. I am sorry to hear of the unexpected drivers.

I had to do that on my first Disney Cruise to make it to the Magic. Made it from DFW to Gainesville in under 24 hours - then was driven to the port by my grandparents. NO FUN! And with the reports of snow and rain storms, my heart goes out to you folks...

Yes - I did have my name called out to board my flight. If it could go wrong, it did in the airport. Got stopped at security while the tried to determine if the rolling pin we bought in Yelapa was a weapon or not - thankfully they allowed my daughter to pass with it. Then we sprinted knowing we were cutting it WAY close - they closed the door behind us!

Sorry to hear there were so many travel woes getting home.

Meredith71, where did you buy your "home" property? We didn't get interested in DVC until the last sea day and by that time it was pretty hard to get an appt and info. We ended up not buying but I sure would like to go to that new Oahu Aulani!

Just got a Disney survey via email but haven't looked at it yet. Does everyone get these?

Meredith,

We had no idea this was your son... We thought about him all night long. I am so glad he is doing okay. Did the guys from that show talk to you after? So sorry about him being 9 and not 6. ;) The manager CM i spoke to mentioned "he was pretty young. 6 or so." But she had said all of the managers where pulled into a meeting about the incident. I was really shocked the show went on, I was 5 rows back from you when it happend and I was scared. :grouphug:

I agree with you 100% The DIS folks on the board made the trip more special. Great, quality people. Also, just the general population on this cruise...everyone seemed more relaxed, I agree with the statem
ent about "less pushy"...great manners, friendly, positive demeaners all around.

Dicecatt, enjoyed meeting you at the Gold Castaway Cay reception. Rebooked on board and put you down as TA. :)

I met several of you guys...what a fantastic bunch!

I didn't hear anything about anyone being left behind.......give details....son3disfan.....why were you almost late? Was it the 1st stop at Cabo or the 2nd? Glad you made it onboard!!

Hi Hope....
I was really hoping to meet you. Sorry we didn't get the chance to connect.
Ok so here's the scoop.long version.
We were late coming back to Cabo on Friday. We did the ATV tour ( which was UNBELIEVABE! ) . The tour was suppose to start at 8:40 am. With the time change, I didn't figure it out right, and we would Have been an hour late back to the tender. We pleaded with the tour company, and they were amazing! They gave the 9 of us a private tour, ( which was so great as there was a lot of 20 something guys that appeared to be drunk.... At 9:00 am! ) they took us back to the tender just in time, a little after one. There appeared to be a long tender line (past the bar ) and everyone in our party needed a washroom break. So off we went. Gone for about 10 min. When we returned the Disney line was empty and closed off with a garbage can! Running with my family, we just made it on the last tender. There was only a young family ( dad, mom and son about 2) on board as well as the Disney crew who were working at the terminal. The father was asking them to wait for the rest of his family( mother, father, brother ect.) and Disney said "no we are late and the we need to leave." He JUMPED OFF THE BOAT just before the last crew member got on. He was holding up his hands saying wait! Wait! And ran back into the terminal.
The boat left! The women stared screaming and they just kept going. He had all her ID and everything. It was awful. When we got to the boat, the anchor was already up, as it was now almost 1:40pm. She was so upset and security came and escorted her through and she was gone. I heard them paging a family from deck 2. The boat left, and that was it.
That night, I asked CS what happened to her husband, and they said they didn't know. I figured they didn't want to share personal info with me. I was so worried about her. They also said ( and this was Friday night) that we would now be late arriving back to the terminal on Sunday. It is very different then trying to get back to Port Canaveral from the Bahamas. There us no waiting.
They said that it happens quite often, and people need to pay attention to the warnings. That sooooo could have been us. Between the brutal flight cancellation coming in to LA on Sat., missing the bus for the Zipline tour on Wednesday, and then this on friday, we were mentally exhausted.
But, like everyone has said already, people on this meet and cruise were so friendly and we had a fantastic time!
we booked again for March 10th , 2012, but might move it when the new dates are released.

Thanks Mindy. No, the guys from the show (the German guys) did not talk to us. Clayton and Jason talked to us in the medical offices. Our cabin was on the 5th floor and when we were headed back to the cabin the "Till We Meet Again" show was beginning in the lobby. I pushed Dalton over to watch it (he was in a wheel chair to go back to the cabin). When all the characters were in their places I looked down and he was crying. He wanted to see Stitch. So, I took him down in the elevator and got in line to see Stitch. Stitch was great and hugged on him a lot and even pushed him around in the wheelchair. The girl that was with Stitch was a dancer from the show. She talked to me about how upset they all were and that we were in their thoughts and prayers. I thought that was really sweet.

We bought at Bay Lake Towers. We went back and forth between Animal Kingdom Villas and Bay Lake a lot. We finally decided Bay Lake because of the location and the smaller size so priority booking would be better there. It had a higher per point cost but lower dues so hopefully it will be a better deal in the long run. We plan on trying to stay at Animal Kingdom sometime soon though.

I would love to go to Oahu Aulani as well. Hopefully someday. :goodvibes

Has anyone seen the CNN News report about a Disney Wonder Crew Member missing?

The crew member did not report for duty on Tuesday. They did a thorough search of the ship. Now the US Coast Guard and the Mexican Navy is involved in the search.

Does anyone know what this weeks itinerary is? Were that in Cabo or at Sea on Tuesday?

Oh my, our prayers are going forth. Please let this person be ok.

They were on the back to back Cabo Itinerary. So Tuesday was a sea day.
They are reporting she didnt show up for her shift Tuesday morning as a Youth Councillor. They checked all the cabins and areas on the ship. The rumour is MOB(man over board). So sad.

I have felt so sick to my stomach over this entire story. I posted a question in the main forum Wednesday after my friend called me and said her SIIL (currently on the Wonder) was texting her and saying a crew member was missing. I was trying to find out if the Wonder was in port or at sea because I couldn't find the itinerary any where. I have been really upset and near tears since Wednesday morning, worried sick to death for the CM. I just can't imagine being on the ship because I would not be able to enjoy myself at all, not with knowing how upset the crew have to be!! And having just gotten off the ship and having had an amazing time because of that crew. Those people really grow to mean a lot to us and our kids and to know they're in so much pain right now just tears me up! It's awful!!

So sad about the missing crew memeber!! I hope that all turns out somehow ok?? I hope that the did not have bad rocky weather and so maybe a crew memeber fell off the ship?? That would be heartbraking news!

The FR gifts were all so very nice and fun!! Thanks to everyone that was in our group doing it.:) I do not recall who did the photo frame scrapbook type FE gift but WOW that was really alot of work I bet and to bring those for travel must have been a pain.
The kids loved all of the gifts!! Thanks a bunch!! It was nice meeting a couple of the families from the FE exchange.:)

I maybe getting a group rate for next year so if anyone is interested, just let me know.:)

Many Thanks!

Meredith - So happy to hear your son is doing ok. We talked to some fellow Tulsans on the way out Sunday morning and they mentioned the incident and that it was a boy from Bixby (one of their daughters had met your daughter in the club). Will be happy to tell them that he is doing ok. And also so sorry about never meeting you - our girls were into the "family" trip, and at age 11 and 13, we will take the bonding time while we can get it. Have booked a dummy date on the Fantasy - hoping to go again either Spring Break 2013 or Summer 2013. Melissa
