Hello everyone! My name is Tiffany and I’m a SAHM aka Domestic Goddess aka Keeper of the Secret aka The Brains Behind the Operation. You get the point ;) This is my very first PTR so please bear with me. I’ll try my very best to keep you entertained and keep up with the best of the DISers

How this trip came to be:

Honestly? Lots of begging and pleading  I have not only not been on a decent vacay since 2006 but I also have family down in Orlando so I kind of used them as a reason to visit the Mouse. :rolleyes1 Just don’t tell them. Really though, a blue moon must’ve been close by or I have truly mastered the Imperius Curse… :wizard:

When he said to book it, I was on it!

Next argument? Where we were staying. I’m married to a man who is akin to Mr. Krabbs. It about kills him every time he has to part with a single penny. Nevermind the fact that he had just gone to India for a month last year while I was super pregs with our youngest and spent a pretty penny on that because it was his family.

The Dates:

July 17th thru July 25th

The Resort:

I wanted to stay on property and he wanted to stay off. We’re staying at CBR so guess who won? It’s going to be hot as heck there in July and I know I’ll be torched (you’ll see what I mean when I get to the pics) not only due to my skin but because of the way I dress.

The Cast

Me (Tiffany aka Samar) the DIS Fanatic, DH Tariq (the man that just doesn’t understand the whole Disney thing and he acts like going to Disney is like getting a tooth pulled :sad2: ), DS Ali (6, 7 at the time of the trip), DD Safia (5) and my precious Eva (currently 10 ½ months, but will be almost 17 months at the time of the trip) :lovestruc

The kids and I (they’re dressed like this for Sunday school, I usually wear jeans)

*****So this is the beginning and I hope to enthrall you all with my planning madness :woohoo: I'll do my best to chapter-ize things as I have seen in other PTRs to allow for smoother readings!

A Grand Surprise

I haven’t seen my mom since March 2009 and that was only for a weekend. We did see each other for a week at the end of December 2007. I am the only one of my siblings who lives way up in the frozen North so unless I go to FL, I really don’t see anyone aside from some family in PA.

My youngest bro (19) just joined the Marines and my other bro (21), will be joining the Army in March. My sis (23) just recently moved back to FL with her DD (5 next month). My mother (and her co-habitator…. She’s at the age where I don’t think I can call her CH a DBF…) is currently suffering the effects of Empty Nest Syndrome even with having my sister and niece temporarily living there. Funny how for years us parents can’t wait to see our kids grow up and out of the house and when they do, you wonder what happened? :confused3

Mom was making it clear that she would probably not get much more than a weekend to come up and visit this year. :guilty: It sucks really since the kids have school during the week, a couple hours of school on Sundays and the visit just flies by in a blink. It doesn’t really help things that mom and DH don’t see eye to eye on many things but moving on. My sister invited us to come up next month for my niece’s 5th birthday! :woohoo: I was so excited because it was also the same weekend as the baby’s 1st birthday and we’d be surrounded by family for both celebrations! :cutie: DH quickly shot down the idea after pointing out that the airfare wasn’t worth the short stay and that if we went anywhere, it’d be for a week. I tried to make a vacay for Spring Break but the airfare was over $400 with one-stop. :scared1: With 3 small kids, that was looking a tad unpleasant. July wasn’t too bad as far as airfare and resort rates and I booked it without taking into account the heat and the crowds we’d likely encounter. Doh. :sad2: Well, we’ll play it by ear and I just might shell out for TGM again. Depends on how much resistance I get from DH.

He doesn’t like to plan anything! That’s more or less another post.

Back to the point of this post. I mentioned to my sister that along with keeping the trip a secret from my children, we’d keep it a secret from mom! :ccat: I think she’ll totally be bowled over to see us arrive at the airport if not arrive at the house on her doorstep ;) Since my sister is living there, I am as close to having an insider as I’m going to get.

After our wreck of a vacation back in 2007 (family from PA with nothing but DRAMA , us and the FL family) that ended up with me having an emergency D&C the day we were supposed to go to MK  and the day before my DD’s birthday, I told DH that we would never ever plan a vacay around family AGAIN. So the plan is to do our Disney Stuff, visit family on OUR TIME SCHEDULE and relax at the resort when we need a breather. :thumbsup2

I am so excited and I really hope that I can keep it to myself (and to the boards) so I can make this trip magical for everyone. :wizard:

From L to R (Ricky~21 y.o Army bro, Cousin, Aunt, Jane~ Mom in the plaid, Grandma, Crystal~23y.o sis, Jerrico~ 19 y.o Marine bro and that's my niece, Taylor up on his head)

Aside from this being a shamelss bump :rolleyes1 I am so thrilled to have received my brand spankin new 2010 Disney PassPorter in the mail today! :3dglasses Let the paper madness begin!

Hey, Tiffany! I'm in! I can't wait to read more about your trip. We'll have some days overlapping as we're going July 11-20th at BWV.

We also have a bit in common -- I have a 10 month old baby girl, too and we are going with my Pennsylvania family, too (my parents and sister's family) but we're trying to keep to our own schedule and just meet up with them for a few meals.

Your children are adorable -- I love the pic of your middle child in the costume, too!

Hi Marshay and :welcome: to my PTR! You have won a prize for being the first responder..... a group of dancing M&M's! party: Enjoy ;)

That's neat that we'll have a few overlapping days and I hope that your youngest DD wil enjoy her trip to Disney with her big sis :lovestruc I have taken my older 2 when they were smaller so I'm not sure how it'll be with a toddler in tow this time :scared1:

I like your game plan! Keep the vacation your own and do everything at leisure :hippie: It's a lot less fun when you have to keep trying to accomodate people and most don't even appreciate it :sad2:

Thank you for the pic compliments! I think they're cute, too, especially when they're asleep .

Woo Hoo!! I won something!!!:cool1::banana::lmao:

The Unknown Celebrities

Apparently DH is convinced that we’re both celebrities… or at least he is. Not to toot my own horn but I make a very convincing Drew Barrymore from a profile point of view :upsidedow

We are currently 183 days out from our vacay! :cheer2: Not as close as I'd like to be however this is the optimum time for me to be getting some ADR's ready  This is where I have to dash DH’s dreams that he is not exactly Johnny Depp (can I get a drool and a sigh in here?!):
depp-sparrow.jpg

or to be culturally correct for him, SRK.
shahrukh_khan_2.jpg

For those who don’t know who SRK is, he’s a Bollywood star that sort of dances like > :dancer:

I mentioned to him that along with doing the BBB for DD #1, Pirate Cruise for DS and a First Haircut at Main Street for DD #2 that I wanted to know where he wanted to eat so I could start figuring ADR’s into our park schedule. Logical, right? One roadblock aside from DH who thinks that you can just WALK RIGHT INTO a popular eating spot like this is Ponderosa or something, is the fact that we keep halal/kosher. While that really limits our options in WDW as far as where we can go to eat, it’s not entirely impossible as long as the Kosher food is not as cruddy as it was last time when we went to CRT.

In DH’s perfect world :3dglasses , we walk right in, announce that “ the ****** family is here” and Voila! Table and food ASAP. And we’ll get to skip the airport pat down like Halle Berry.

Causing a stir north of the border, Halle Berry and family drew criticism for being escorted past airport security at Montreal’s Trudeau airport over the weekend.

Traveling with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and daughter Nahla, the trio reportedly grabbed a constable at Aubry’s request to bypass a nearly hour and a half line ahead of their outbound flight.

Oh the man dreams big I tell ya :clown:

I mean, I suppose it is WDW where wishes come true and we’re all celebrities in our own right but when one person goes through all the planning and the others butt against you, it really really stinks :fish:

*** Until next post, keep DISing! :happytv::cool1::thumbsup2

DROOL. SIGH. DROOL. SIGH.

So where does hubby want to eat? I imagine eating halal/Kosher would limit your food? Do you avoid buffets altogether?

Thanks for explaining SRK.:goodvibes

BBB and Pirate Cruise sound great and along with 1st haircut, you will be busy! I'm still thinking about BBB for my DD who will turn 5...it's just so expensive and I'm not sure she'd appreciate it.

Yep, I gotta laugh at people who think they can just walk into a restaurant. As WE know, Disney is not a normal vacation! It's better but also requires a commitment of planning upfront, too.

He wants to eat mainly Indian/Pakistani food I guess :confused3 He's not a fan of American food eventhough he's married to an American. Weirdo. lol We did Chef Mickey's and since I'm picky, it was alllllllllllll carbs. Not good for my pooh-sized figure. Hoping to get down to a Kanga look. Skinny with some leftover baby pooch :rotfl:

I hear you on the BBB. I'm debating about it not just due to the price although it is a tad pricey but due to the heat if her put-togetherness will just wither in a short time. Decisions, decisions! Worse comes to worse, stick them both on the Pirate Cruise! LOL Maybe I can just bring one of her dress up trunk outfits to put on over her regular clothes and have my sis do her hair and makeup for the great low price of FREE :cool1:

I'm hoping that DH realizes that he's gotta help with the planning especially since it's just us doing the parks for the moment. I really don't want to live off of CS pizza the entire time :headache:

Have you told your oldest that you are going in July or are you going to surprise her?

Rachel definitely knows and talks about it all the time. It's pretty cool to know I'm raising a Disney-lover!

Our Disney store is closing down so I went there to see what discounts they have -- just bought a Cinderella dress (the one that is normally over $50 for $13.50!!) I'll bring that along with us on the trip and let DD4 wear it one day or so. But you are right -- it'll be too hot to wear for long but I'm thinking just putting it on to meet the characters or for a character meal or just in the morning and later evening.

Also, you are right about the heat messing up the makeup and hair...are you planning to do the pools each day to help cool off? If you do BBB you want to show off the 'do all day long, so no pool that day! Would a ton of makeup and hairspray be uncomfortable in 90-100 degrees?

However, I'm sure your daughter would love be dressed up like a princess, too.

Don't forget the Main Street Barbershop adds pixie dust to your hair -- it's not BBB but it is cute and glittery and much cheaper!

K so I got off my lazy :happytv: and made a sn for this site! :woohoo: u happy? Cannot wait to see u guys! :cheer2:

Off to work meeting.. :surfweb: ugh.. Wish me luck! hehe

Marshay, BBS with some personals and the next installment! I'm trying to write more than a blurb and my creativeness is hard to tap into some days. lol Thanks for the July 2010 thread! :goodvibes

Crys, about dang time! If it wasn't for your SN then I would've been like "Who the HECK is this?!

You back at work already? I can't wait to see you and my Taylor tot  The kids keep asking to go to Florida but I keep saying telling them that they can't go unless I can send them down as alligator food for mom's lake :rotfl:

Good luck!

***** :surfweb: Alright, I've gotta come up with some material. This PTR would've been easier to start closer to the trip

I should probably check out the Disney store here and see if they're discounting anything, too! I'm not a big fan when they alter the princess dress design to modernize it with a theme but hey, whatever keeps the customers coming. lol

If the weather is stoking hot the whole time, then it might be pools everyday, not sure. If we did the BBB at DTD, maybe the rest could be a family day with my fam that lives in the area. Allthestars17 is my sister, Crystal, in the pic at the beginning ;)

I'd love to go in cooler weather so I wouldn't have to worry about melting makeup and hairdos but with the kids in school, I don't want to pull them out for it. Perhaps we'll just do Barbershop for all of the kids and DS can get a Mickey in his hair!

Have fun planning with Rachel! :lovestruc

BBL

Wow. Fell wayyyyyyyy behind :headache: I'm going to have to tap into my creative nothingness for a new post worthy post. But there's still hope (small, but there) for this PTR! :cheer2:

If anyone has some good posting tips for a successful PTR, I'd greatly appreciate it :teacher:

Hi, I just saw you on the AKL bus service thread and came over to your PTR! :goodvibes

Do you know that Sanaa at Kidani Village at AKL serves "Indian style" food? Perhaps that might be a good place for your DH?

Thanks! All the more reason for me to get my act together and update this thing so it doesn't turn out to be a huge flub

I wasn't aware of that, thanks for the tip! :yay: I'll have to inquire if they do kosher/halal versions so we can try it out. I'm totally not into winging the dining part and DH is well aware of this. 5 months away, no ADR's and I'm waiting for my "I told you so" moment to come at the parks and he's hungry for things other than CS

I think my next chapter might be tickets... Hm. Gotta chew on that. :rolleyes1

Just wanted you to know I'm still here...I've had a lull in my TR, too. :goodvibes
