Ohhhh boy~ here we go again! Anderson/VanDamme Vegas/California road trip vacation!

Aw, I'm so sorry about the mistake with the pins. I hope you eventually end up getting them!

The Huntington Beach and San Diego stuff looks glorious!

12 days till our DL trip! And I'm too busy in other DIS threads to keep up with my own PTR, lol.

Well I'm glad to have you. :) And I can't wait to hear about your trip.

Hope you're having a good holiday weekend!

How is everybody’s Labor Day weekend going thus far?

I had such a wonderful day yesterday, I would like to share it with all of you.

First of all I’d like to mention that I’ve lived in Colorado all my life and yesterday I discovered three new and wonderful things to see and do. One of which includes dinner at a yummy, yummy Mexican Restaurant. So if you ever drive through the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Colorado I suggest seeing all three when you do!:thumbsup2

---------

Anyway…… On Wednesday I was talking to my DH’s sister(( Marsha)) about doing something on Saturday with our families since everyone had the day off.

We decided on taking a 3 hour drive through the mountains and going to a place called Glenwood Caverns, located in beautiful Glenwood Springs.

On the way up there we pulled over in a town called FRISCO to stretch our legs and take a restroom break. OH MY GOODNESS!! This is the cutest little town I’ve ever seen. I LOVED it. I really wished we could have stopped here to shop and enjoy a local restaurant but we had no time. So this is my first suggestion to anybody traveling through. Stop and pull over on Main Street Frisco for an hour or so to look around and eat. Now I have our first stop on our trip next month planned out. We’re going to stop in Frisco to have breakfast at this cute little restaurant called THE LOG CABIN CAFɒ. I’ll be sure to let you all know how the food and hospitality is. ;)

OH Yeah, and I forgot to mention……. I don’t know how many of you have heard of the Eisenhower Tunnel.. But it’s the highest Vehicular Tunnel in the world. It’s located 11,158 feet up and cuts through the Continental Divide. Anyway once you travel through the tunnel you have to go DOWN…. DOWN… DOWN a very, very steep hill. It’s at a 7% grade and goes for 7 or 8 miles. Anyway on the way down my car starts shaking like crazy when I push on the brakes, which I pretty much had to do the whole way down. I thought my brakes were going to fail on us and I was going to die. It scared the $#!% out of me! :scared1: My husband thinks it’s my rotor and not to worry about it too much. But still I was a nervous wreck the rest of the road trip. Now I have to take it in and make sure it’s fixed and it tip top shape before we leave on our trip in 3 weeks.

Okay……. So after we leave Frisco we drove for another 1 ½ hours and made it to Glenwood Springs.

We pulled into the parking lot and paid our reasonable $20.00 a person for the tram ride up the and the cave tour.

August2008015.jpg

Once we arrived at the top we went straight for the Gift Shop to buy some Sunblock for Reya because I left ours back home. We normally use the continuous spray stuff and we always have to put in on her head and threw what little hair she has. But all they had was the lotion kind. So her hair got all funky and sticky so we put it up in a Mohawk. :rotfl2:

August2008026.jpg

After lathering Reya up, everyone wanted to ride the Canyon Flyer, which is an Alpine Coaster that races 3,400 through the trees and down the mountain side with lots of hairpin turns. I declined and decided to stay back with Reya. So the two went and got ourselves a snow cone to share.

August2008031.jpg

After they were done it was time for our 2:20PM cave tour. Unfortunately I didn’t get any good pictures worth sharing, so I don't have any. All I can say is that it was really beautiful and interesting and Reya did so well, especially with it lasting for over 70mins.

HERE’S SOME OF THE BEAUTIFUL VIEWS FROM THE MOUNTAIN

I’VE REACHED MY IMAGE LIMIT, SO I’LL CONTINUE ON THE NEXT POST.

I am soooooooo ……. Sooooooooo …… soooooooo mad at myself. When I ordered Reya’s pins on eBay I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t realize that my previous address was listed as my shipping address. So now I most likely won’t see 5 of the pins I ordered because they were shipped out before I noticed the mistake. I’m hoping they will be returned to the sender and sent back to me, since I emailed them to explain the situation. So keep your fingers crossed. Otherwise I’m out about $30.00:(

Aw man, that sucks. I bet they'll resend them to you though. I'll be hoping for that anyway.

Love the pics!! OMG, that little town is way too cute. That one pics of Reya is too funny. :rotfl2: People were probably wondering what kind of parent you were....:rolleyes1 ;)

Oh, and the car shaking would have scared the crap outta me! I hate car issues.

WELL…… REYA’S NOT AFRAID OF HEIGHTS OR THE DARK WE DISCOVERED ON THIS TRIP!:woohoo:

August2008047.jpg

After our tour I decided to get over my fear and ride the Cannon Flyer. So all of us girls minus Reya rode it. I rode with Valerie while Marsha and Breanna rode together. My little adventurous niece wanted me to go as fast as I could, so I didn’t touch the brakes the entire time. It was SO freakin scary and fun all at the same time, especially when we went around on the sharp turns. ((Did I mention you have to say a liability wavier before you ride)) :scared1: After you reach the the bottom some kind of conveyer belt thingy pulls you up to the top.

THIS IS US GOING UP

LOOKING DOWN FROM THE CONVEYER

August2008089.jpg

Once the ride was over and I tried getting out of the stupid car, I fell right on my face, right in front of about 30 people who were waiting in line. It was sooooo embarrassing.:sad2: I’d like to mention that I’m probably the clumsiest person on the face of the planet.:rolleyes1

Here’s a couple pictures of another ride they had there. None of us decided to do it, but it swings you right over the mountain side. :scared1: Of course you need to sign a waiver for that one too.

August2008055.jpg

August2008054.jpg

The boys decided to take one more trip down the mountain, while us girls went to do some panning for gemstones. Marsha and I both had soooo much fun doing this with the girls. And they each ended up with a very nice amount of gemstones. Reya even picked all of hers out of the pan without any of my help. All I did was sift it though the water for her.

REACHED IMAGE LIMIT AGAIN….. ((Hope this gives you an indication on how many pictures I’ll have for my trip report next month))

That's good she's not scared or heights or the dark!

I'd be scared of that ride you went on!! Just the conveyor belt looks freaky.

And that ride that swings you over the edge of the mountain???? No way in heck! That's like the ride at the Stratosphere that hangs you over the edge and swings you around. Craziness.

Once we arrived at the top we went straight for the Gift Shop to buy some Sunblock for Reya because I left ours back home. OMGosh, is she trying to do a Billy Idol impression with that lip/nose/eye configuration?! ROFL!! :rotfl: That is so cute!!

Very cool pics. I would do all the scary stuff, heh. Looks like an awesome time and what a cute town!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Yeah, I was thinking she looks like a cross between Billy Idol and Elvis. She is the hardest person in the world to take a picture of. She never sits still and she squints her forehead and closes her eyes everytime I ask her to say "cheese". I tried taking about 5 pictures of her mohawk and that's the only turned out half way decent.

It was about 4:30 by the time we were done and we hadn’t eaten anything all day except some granola bars so we decided to leave and grab something to eat for dinner in Glenwood Springs.

JUST THOUGHT THIS PICTURE WAS FUNNY BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS LOOKING IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS.

August2008107.jpg

Once we reached the parking lot we headed for dinner. We decided on a restaurant called Tequila’s. I’d like to remind everyone that I’ve been on a very, very, very strict diet. I haven't cheated all all ((well, maybe a little)) :rolleyes1 I’ve lost a total of 45 lbs so far and want to loose another 10 if possible before my trip. So it was extremely hard for me to decide to cheat. But I figured that I deserved it and Mexican food is my all time favorite. I LOVE IT!! OMG it was soooo good. Thank goodness beacuse I would have been really upset if I treated myself to horrible food. If you ever pass through Glenwood Springs on I-70 and you like Mexican food I highly recommend stopping here.

FOR YOU FOOD PORN FANS
August2008123.jpg

After our yummy dinner we headed back home. Ohhhhhh and I figured since I cheated on my diet anyway, I needed and wanted some starbucks. I used to be the biggest Starbucks junkie and I’ve been wanting a caramel Frap for months now. I needed some caffeine to keep myself awake for our 3 hour drive back home so that’s how I justified it. MMMMMMmmmmmmmm…..

---------------
Everyone had a wonderful, and fun filled day. Reya was exhausted and slept most of the way home.

August2008125.jpg

Thanks for letting me share my day….. Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Great trip! Sounds like it was a really good time. I'm glad you all were able to get out and have such a fun weekend.

Oh, and thanks for the food porn!!!! I love Mexican food too and that looked so good. Congrats on being up to 45 lbs! Wow!!! Good for you.

WOW! What a really great and wonderful trip! I LOVE LOVE LOVE little get-aways like that. How awesome that place looks! That ride over the side of the mountain :scared1: THAT IS NOT COOL! I love scary rides but that is NOT cool! :scared: YIKES! The alpine slide looks like a blast!!

THat pic of Reya not being afraid of heights scared the crap outta me! LOL I am so overparanoid about babies and tiny openings in gates.... my DD escaped out of our fenced in area in a matter of seconds one time.. she got under the fence through a small hole that the dog had previously dug out and I had put a rock there to stop him from digging in it. I was hypervenhilating on the phone to 911 in .38 seconds flat. She turned up with the neighbor about 1 minute later so it was a fast scare.. but a SCARE none the less!

Anyway, thanks for sharing your great trip. I wish I was closer as I would LOVE to see all those beautiful sights.... and fun stuff, too!

P.S. I was never here... :tiptoe:

You're welcome! :) Mexican is my weakness. Especially Cheese enchiladas. I'm mostly excited for my trip because I can eat whatever I want again. ((Well almost anything)) I promised myself I would be sensible. My SIL and I are going to keep each other in line. She's going to be in the same boat as I am. She just lost 100 lbs.

It was a blast.... Except for the falling on my face part of course. :sad2:

Reya seems to be pretty fearless these days. Which is sorta cool, since we're going to DL next month. Last year she was terrified of just about everything. She goes through phases. I definately need to keep a better eye on her lately. But I'm not nearly as paradnoid as I used to be.

Well I'm glad you stopped by. Don't worry I won't tell anyone I saw ya!:rolleyes1

YAY!!! It's September! I'm going to Disneyland this month!!!

OMG, that pic of the surfer with the shark is crazy! Is that real or photoshopped??

I'm so jealous you'll be at Sea World. I love it there. Ruben and I used to go to San Diego all the time when we were dating. It was our favorite get away. And of course we'd always make a stop at SW.

It's been far too long since we've been. Last time was in 2003 I think. We talked about going again though, maybe after the holidays, in January. If we do, I'll be coming to you for advice! ;)

Well...... I had assumed that it was a real picture. But since you asked, I looked it up. And found some info on it on snopes.com....It is a REAL picture, but it's not a shark it's a dolphin. STILL it's a pretty spectacular photo.;)

I'm really excited for SeaWorld, I LOVE dolphins and can't wait to see and feed them again. I know Reya is going to reallly enjoy it. I'll post lots and lots of pictures and information when I get back.

congrats on the 45 pound loss! i am going to start my diet today  and am hoping to lose 10 lbs before my trip. they have creeped on me the last couple of months. sorry to be :offtopic: but what diet are you on? i was thinking to cut out my snacking inbetween meals, lots of water, and cardio 3-5 times a week.
that pic of the shark and the surfer is creepy!
i love san diego and sea world is awesome! i went last december with my DS, and let me tell you....do not sit in the first row at the shamu show! we got drenched. but we had a blast.

That stinks! I hope you get them! So far I've received 9 pins. I have two more coming though. It's an addiction...haha.

Here's a couple more Pins Reya received........

Very cute!!

All of your plans look great. Will the water be cold at the beach when you go swimming? I only swam in the ocean once while living in california. It was in the summer, and the water was still a bit cold for me (I'm used to warmer waters in florida and the florida keys.)

I've never been to Sea World in San Diego. Only the one in Orlando back in 1987. But those pictures make me want to go there sometime. That one ride looks really cool.

A dolphin? Wow, it would still have freaked me out because it looks like a shark! Very cool shot though.

I love the dolphins too. So does my oldest DD. I'd love to be able to treat her to the trainer for a day program but it's so expensive!!!! :scared1:
