I read on the some of the menus that the offer Philly Cheesesteaks. How do these compare to cheesesteaks here? Cheesesteaks are one of my most favorite foods....so I don't want to be disappointed. I'd rather just skip it.
Can anyone help?

A south Jersian here and I would persnally not eat a cheesesteak anywhere but here or Philly . Genos and Pats are the best!! :Pinkbounc My son had one at Disney and said they were not the same.

Sorry I can't help you but wanted to say, don't get the cheesesteak at Cosmic Rays! Awful! I haven't found a good one at WDW.

My guess is that whatever the menu says, it probably won't compare to the 'real" Philly cheesesteak.
Similar situation with crabcakes--on the menu, but not comparable to the genuine Maryland crabcake.

We were discussing that the other evening at dinner. I can't remember seeing it on any menu. However, I would not order it anyway. Philly cheesesteaks are the best - there is no comparison!

My nephew loves cheesesteaks and he said the one at the Plaza restaurant was pretty good. Stay away from the Beaches and Cream one, horrible, just horrible.

SKIP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My DH and I love when menus spout they serve Philly cheesesteaks. DS(7) got one at WDW in April and even he complained. I have not been to place outside of the Philly area that has a good cheesesteak or hoagie for that matter!

Be careful on what resturants outside of Philly call their "Philly cheesesteaks." My DH always gets upset because so many places just use...dare I say it...Steak-ums!! :earseek: I don't know what the WDW resturants use so if someone knows, please post, I for one am curious!

i would have to agree that you should not get a cheesesteak anywhere but in the Philly area! I work in Baltimore and even that close to Philly they still cant get it right.....so I know Florida won't either. It is almost as if no one can figure out how to make a good cheesesteak.

Rule #1: If they have to call it a "Philly cheesesteak" it won't be as good as what you'd get at home.

Rule #2: If you're tempted to try it anyway, see Rule #1.

Here is a pretty good website for Philly area eats (including all of the well-known cheesesteak places and a few not so well-known):

Even if they managed to get the meat right & even if they understood "wiz wit" they'd never get the bread right! Ya' gotta have the right "wooder" to get the right bread!

There are plenty of places around the city that are way better than Pat's or Geno's- they are just the 2 most famous places. I explain Pat's & Geno's to people like this for example- by no standard would I call McDonalds a great burger place, but some times you just crave one from there.

By the way, when I attended school at the University of S. Carolina for a brief time, one of the on campus eateries had a 'Philly Cheese Steak' on the menu. Of course I had to try it and it turned out to be roast beef and american cheese on a hot dog roll with green peppers. Not Good....

As a SJ native (with most of my family is Philly), I personally stay as far away from "cheesesteaks" anywhere other than here. I think you will be disappointed, as they are nothing like a Pat's steak (esp. with onions, salt and hot sauce...ahhh...Heaven).

Now I am hungry!!!!

Gotta give you my two cents . . . .

Stay away from Philly cheesestakes when you are not in Philly or surrounding area!

I ordered one from the cart in the MGM studios, it was freshly made, but it was very disappointing. I have had better at McDonalds. It had lots of meat on it, but the meat was too tough. It just wasn't very good.

Got to agree with you MinnieGirl33, no one makes bread like the South Jersey/Philly area! We live in VA now and miss it soooo much! Its just not the same, they can't get it right! Gotta be the water. By the way no one understands me when I say "wooder" down here!

You Philly/New Jersey people are killing me! I may have to come all the way there to have a TRUE Philly cheesesteak. You have my mouth watering! They may not be up to par with the real ones but they make a good cheesesteak sandwich at the Plaza Restaurant (not to be confused with the Plaza Pavillion counter service) in the MK. It's not cheez whiz though but it's good and the beef is tasty and tender and the bread has been very fresh the couple times I've had them there.
