MuppetVision 3-D - After taking your seat in the plushly appointed 584-seat theater, don your special 3D glasses to watch this wacky 13-minute trip through the Muppet Laboratories. But don't be surprised when your sight isn't the only sense to be stimulated! You'll be blasted with a burst of air, squirted and suddenly find yourself in a dreamy shower of soap bubbles at various times throughout the show. Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant, Beaker, begin the demonstration with disastrous results, releasing an impish 3D character called Waldo. Things go from bad to worse, as the Swedish Chef commandeers the projector in the rear of the theater and Statler and Waldorf heckle from their box seats. The show comes to a raucous conclusion, with cannons exploding, fireworks blasting and penguins squawking in a tumultuous but happy ending.

We interrupt this Muppet*Vision 3D post spamming (courtesy of All Ears) to bring you the infamous 69 post.

INTERESTING FACTS

HIDDEN MICKEY: See if you can spot the Hidden Mickey test pattern in the pre-show video, just after Scooter crosses the screen for the second time.

The show, which opened on May 16, 1991, is a joint effort by Jim Henson Productions, Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), the design and engineering division of The Walt Disney Co.

While waiting in the pre-show area, see if you can spot some of the visual puns - the most famous is the net full of Jell-o cubes overhead (Get it? A net full of Jell-O? Annette Funicello?)

Also in the pre-show area you'll spy a sign that tells you the key has been left under the mat -- if you look down, you'll find the mat, and there really is a key under it!

To create the ideal setting for Muppet*Vision 3-D, Imagineers designed a theater that brings the show directly into the audience, causing some to call the experience 4D, or 4 Dimensional. Guests are squirted with water, blasted with air, and real soap bubbles float through the air throughout the show.

Muppet touches can be found throughout the architecture's ornamentation, including the Jules Verne-style projector contraption operated by the Swedish Chef.

Journey Into Narnia: Prince Caspian -- Located on Mickey Avenue in one of the Soundstages, this walkthrough exhibit opened December 9, 2005, to coincide with the opening of the movie, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It was updated recently to include props and scenes from the movie Prince Caspian. Prince Caspian opened June 26, 2008. Guests can experience an exclusive opportunity to see behind-the-scenes footage, original concept art, storyboards, props and costumes from the latest installment of "The Chronicles of Narnia." They can explore Aslan’s stone table chamber set recreated directly from the original molds, see blueprints used for the motion picture, and meet Prince Caspian.

The "Prince Caspian" theme park character -- seen at right in a promotional photo shoot at Walt Disney World Resort -- began regular meet-and-greet appearances on May 16, 2008. That same day, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" debuted in U.S. theaters. The film, presented by Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media, is the second motion picture based on C.S. Lewis' series of classic books.

UPDATE 4/09: One Man's Dream is now presented by D23 -- The Official Community for Disney Fans. New "D23 Welcomes You" signage is displayed on the marquee of the attraction and a new display case featuring the room of a Disney fan adds to the collection of Disney history currently on display. Many of the pieces on exhibit came from the Walt Disney Archives, which is a big part of the D23 community. The new D23 display case features items a real Disney fan might own, including the Ultimate WALL·E, a "Treasures of the Archives" lithograph and the five-Mickey pin set which was the very first Walt Disney Archives Collection item.

My Result: 100% Long Island
How Long Island Are You?
Congratulations, you're AWESOME! You live, love and breathe Long Island. The very essence of Long Island flows through your veins. You even pronounce it correctly: "Lawn Gylan." You HATE the L.I.E. You HATE the L.I.R.R. even more. You drive a car... a lot. You ...were born and raised here and you even know how to pronounce our Indian town names like, "Copiague." You like the city, but you aren't good at navigating it past Madison Square Garden, unless you work there. If you work there, you like to hang out on the Island moreso than in the City. Most of all, you probably go tanning, go to the bar or go to diners in your free time. You know there is a clear difference between Nassau in Suffolk, if not just because of the mailboxes and sidewalks. You love the beach and are never more than 15 minutes away from one. If you don't love the beach, you love the bar and are never more than 15 minutes away from one. Everyone loves a true Long Islander and everyone loves you!

Whoaaaa, I am a smart person. I've only been to Long Island like five times in my whole life xD But that's where my parents are from... and my cousins that live down the street were born and raised there. So I know far too much about L.I.

INTRODUCTION

Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream opened October 1, 2001, in conjunction with Walt Disney World's 100 Years of Magic celebration, and has been extended indefinitely. Housed in one of the soundstages along Mickey Avenue, it brings guests their first view of special Disney memorabilia.

ATTRACTION

WALT DISNEY: ONE MAN'S DREAM -- This interactive gallery features a collection of memorabilia from the Disney archives that has never been available to the public before. Visitors are shown artifacts from Walt Disney's life and from the history of the company he founded -- from his birth in 1901 through the company’s vision for the future. In addition, the attraction includes a short film of Walt Disney’s life that explores the extraordinary hardships he overcame, as well as previously unseen footage, including Walt talking about his creation, Mickey Mouse.

Throughout the gallery, scenic pieces and props create a trip through each era of Disney’s life, beginning with a brief look at Disney’s early years, from his birth in Chicago and his formative years in Marceline, Missouri, a period that was crucial to his development as an artist and storyteller.

Among the artifacts on display:
-- a model of Main Street, U.S.A.from Disneyland

-- Walt's animation camera stand, the table on which he animated "Steamboat Willie" and "Plane Crazy"

-- Oscars for “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (one regular size and seven dwarf-sized) and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea"

-- Animated bird from the 1800s that inspired The Enchanted Tiki Room

-- Disneyland Castle model

-- An interactive re-creation of Project X (Walt Disney World Resort) Florida

-- A life-sized Roy Disney graphic with interactive audio as Roy dedicates Walt Disney World Resort in his brother's name

-- Abraham Lincoln sculpture bust

-- Disneyland Paris Sleeping Beauty Castle model

-- Disney’s California Adventure model

Throughout the display, "connection cards" join the stories of Disney's creations, from boyhood dreams to reality. In one of the attraction’s most exciting features, Walt Disney himself talks about the most meaningful and emotional moments of his life through a rare collection of audio interviews, many heard publicly for the first time, which are triggered when guests approach the various sections of the gallery.

Do you have what it takes to become a Jedi Knight? The Jedi masters at the Jedi Training Academy will help you find out!

ATTRACTION

The Jedi Training Academy is a 30-minute session that takes place near Star Tours in the Disney's Hollywood Studios. The Jedi Master and his assistants select 25-30 kids from the audience to participate in a light saber training exercise -- robes and plastic light sabers are provided. Those who successfully complete the training are proclaimed to be Padawans, and receive a certificate.

Spoiler Alert:
The show begins with a fanfare of the Star Wars music. A robed and hooded figure comes to the stage, and throws back his hood to reveal that he is the Jedi Master. The Jedi Master performs a short and very acrobatic light saber routine on stage, before announcing that he is looking for those strong in the Force to become prospective Padawans.

The Jedi Master selects kids from the audience, and his assistants outfit them in a brown Padawan robe and they receive a plastic light saber.

The kids take the "Jedi Oath" and then are given step-by-step instructions to perform a short light saber routine. The Jedi Master keeps things moving along with an entertaining patter that the adults will also enjoy.

Suddenly the Jedi senses a disturbance in the Force, and takes all of the kids over to the side. Two stormtroopers run onto the stage... and Darth Vader comes into view.

He informs the Jedi Master that he is there to turn the students to the Dark Side, which of course the Jedi Master informs him that he will never do, especially since he is outnumbered.

To prove themselves the students must take on Vader, using the routine they have just learned. Fortunately the Jedi Master is standing by to remind, help, and encourage the kids to follow through.

The entire thing is accompanied by appropriate music, light saber sound effects, and dialog from Darth Vader and the Jedi Master.

After all the students have had their turn Darth Vader is forced to admit defeat and he exits menacingly. The kids are proclaimed to be Padawans, and after they return their robes and light sabers they receive a certificate.

Walk under the archway to the right of the Chinese Theater and turn right into the Animation Courtyard to find the building that houses The Magic of Disney Animation. Near the entrance of the tour, there are often characters available for a meet and greet/photo opportunity.

ATTRACTION

The Magic of Disney Animation -- This attraction underwent a major rehab in November 2003, and then another minor rehab in October 2004. Here's the current format:

The tour begins with visitors sitting in an area featuring a live artist. The 10-minute segment, called "Drawn to Animation," features the artist interacting with an animated version of the tiny dragon Mushu, from 1998's popular feature Mulan. After hearing about the importance of character development and watching a humorous video with some Mulan artists, guests will visit the area that overlooks what USED to be the workspace of Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida. The Cast Member in this segment talks briefly about animation, and answers a few questions. Unfortunately, the real Disney animators were all laid off in early January 2003, and the entire animation process relocated to Disney's California studios, so there is nothing much to see when you are released from that part of the tour. After the cast member's talk, visitors have the chance to visit a number of interactive activities or to sit for 15-20 minutes at a Mickey-themed animator table and create their own Disney character art at the Animation Academy, under the guidance of a Disney artist.

The Sound Stage -- In this hands-on activity, young animators can play with various sound effects and create their own soundtrack for an animated scene.

Digital Ink and Paint -- As these workstations you can add color to an animated scene, and create your own atmosphere.

You're a Character -- In this booth, you can visit with Lumiere (of Beauty and the Beast fame), who will ask you a series of questions and tell you which Disney character you are most like.

Animation Gallery - On display are copies of the Academy Awards won by Disney animators, along with drawing from famous films. Animation cels, books, and other collectibles are also for sale here.

INTERESTING FACTS

This tour was updated again in October 2004 to include more interactive activities.

Prior to November 2003, the Animation Tour had the following format: After winding your way through corridors decorated with animation sketches of some of Disney's most popular movies, you enter the theater to watch a short film featuring Robin Williams as a tourist and Walter Cronkite, who attempts to explain how animation is created. After Robin is converted into an animated Lost Boy and plays with Peter Pan, you'll meet a Disney animator who shares some animation basics and does a few quick sketches, then allows for a brief question-and-answer session. The tour guide then moves your group on past the animators' workspaces, where guests can peek in and watch animators at work at their computers and drawing boards. You may also catch a few quick glimpses of whatever the newest project is - currently there is artwork and signage for "The Emperor's New Groove" and the upcoming "John Henry." The tour concludes with another short film montage, featuring many Disney films and the people who animated them.

The film featuring Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite was made in Anaheim, California, not at the Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando.
