as of now my kids are on summer holiday - ten weeks of summer holidays, so very very long. Oh and after they go back to school for three days we pull them out again for the cruise.

So that means they have over a quarter of a year off! :scared1:

Thank goodness they are still young, but i think perhaps some homework may be called for so they don't forget everything.

Speaking of in-laws, mine live about 2 and a half hours away, but this morning we got a phone call saying they were half way down, granny is not doing well, so they were coming for a quick visit, Aaarrggghhhhhh. Only had to see them for a few hours, that was long enough.
I adore my FIL, but MIL is very high maintenance! She drives me crazy, DH says I try too hard with her and I need to relax, that I will never get her approval, but I just keep on trying, and keep driving myself mad with frustration. Oh well, at least they didn't stay down this time.

OMG, first time I've cried reading a message board! That is a wonderful story, you are such a beautiful person. I am sure they felt just as blessed to have you as part of their lives.

I have had a thing for Bruce Willis since Pulp Fiction, He's getting on a bit now, and is pretty bald, but he just does it for me, bazaar! :rotfl:

Seriously, someone in DCL needs to take control of this and work something out that is fair to each and every traveller, whether they paid with DVC points, Cash or Funny Money. I cannot believe a company like Disney can't work this out!

I love it, Maybe I'll be sleeping with Bruce Willis, can I make that 30 year old Bruce Willis, not 60 year old Bruce Willis? If it's my hallucination, I get to choose, Right?

Slip on shoes are great too, If the bathroom floor is REALLY gross, slip your shoes on to avoid wet seepage, Ew! Still take socks though as your tootsies get really cold.
Also Sue, Qantas supplies a small pillow and a blanket, but if Delta don't I would recommend taking a small blankie for Becca, I find it comforts the girls and helps them sleep. It does get pretty cool up there!

pixiedust: for your Dad.
You have had a big year, You really deserve this cruise, I hope you can relax on board.

Stephen, that just looks scary! Definitely a man's meal. I don't think I could get my mouth around that! :scared1: Everything is bigger in America! That's a great idea, I have some of those slippers, I will chuck them in my cruise box now, and leave them on the plane.
How do I get my in-laws to move 14 hours away? Coz I'm not moving! Any tips, I'll try anything :lmao::lmao::lmao:
I think you can try too hard, thats for sure.
This reminds me of the time we were in Florida and we went to a place called Cheeburger Cheeburger. Tony decided in his wisdom to try and eat the 1lb burger ... he managed to eat it, plus fries, and got his photo taken and put up on their wall of fame. He couldn't eat another thing for the rest of the day ( very unusual ) and didn't go to the loo for days :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

and we have photos :

Finally finished ... round of applause and an even bigger burger:

great pics
I am so NOT a morning person - even on the cruise - so if we do this maybe we can just do this the same night we stay up and do laundry - then I can go to bed after that :)

I had my first attack at 19 - have had 7 or 8 attacks in the 21 years since then - so about every 3 years! My father gets them more often, my uncle gets them and my grandmother had them - took them forever to figure out what I had because it is more unusual for women to get them - much less 19 year-old women. This is one of my biggest fears of being on the cruise - so I travel with my own pain pills because it is a terrible pain - worse than having both of my kids - and I did that naturally with no pain meds!

Ok it makes me full just looking at the picture!

LOL - no you are not required to fly shoeless but many of us while flying on these long trips take off our shoes to sleep. If you have shoes that are harder to get on many just go without putting their shoes on.

I do walk barefoot at home - but wear shoes that I can slip on and off on the plane. I admit I try not to go to the bathroom on the plane - and can on short flights but not on the long ones but do try to limit if possible.

We flew airfrance coming home from the EBTA and they did give us a small packet with socks, sleep mask, earplugs, etc. but not a nice one like you get in first class. But we travel with the ones from first class as my DH often has them from flying FC when he comes home (he upgrades with his points) and he never uses them so we have them hanging around - so I take them with us when we travel.

Your shoes are safe on your feet or at your seat - the plane can get cold so the "socks" will just keep your toes warm.

Hey Everybody - I have not caught up yet because I was not on the boards yesterday - we received some bad news. My husband lost his job yesterday so we are in limbo. I am still on the cruise!!!

It is just a curve in the road I know and life could be worse - a lot worse, so we are smiling and together and he is working hard. Just wanted to let you all know that is why I have been so quiet. MISS reading.

take care and good luck

I don't know how old they are, but perhaps they could do a little reading or research about the ports which we will be cruising to, or calculate the distance we will be traveling between ports. They have to do something to prevent summer brain drain.

Just popping in to say hi... I have finally just caught up (only took me reading here and there for 2 weeks). Glad to see my cruisemate Kimmy has joined in the fun. I can’t believe I only have 67 days to go – 2 months on 7/4 till vacation. I really need to get moving on my list of things I need as that time is just going to be flying by.

Off to the chiropractor tonight for my adjustment and think I will be making an appointment with my GP as I have had a pain in my calf for over a month (thought is was just a flare up of plantar fasciitis - but got new walking shoes and insoles and not getting better - granted I could use to lose 50lbs - heck I would be happy with 20lbs). So all the talk about Noel's daughter and the pain in the leg ending up being a clot figured I better nip this one in the butt before vacation - especially with all our walking.

Also, I have enjoyed reading all the gallbladder stories. I have a faulty one - was diagnosed in 1996 (only after 2 years of issues and many doctors visits – ironically one my mothers customers who was a nurse – mom was a hairdresser – suggested seeing a gallbladder specialist – got to see the guy who created the bellybutton surgery for gallbladder removal), so been on a low fat diet since. When I cheat I am miserable (no fettuccine alfredo or heavy cream sauces for me). I pretty much quit drinking soda then as well and luckily don’t drink coffee. They told me eventually I will want to get it removed, but my body will tell me when. The thought that I might be able to lose weight more easily would be a nice bonus if I got it out.

Love the DCL sign in Reading, PA – the best part for me was seeing Boscov’s travel at the bottom – I have not been to a Boscov’s in ages (especially since I left NEPA in 1997) and did not realize they did travel. My Aunt lives in Oley, PA, which if I remember is near Reading.

To all who need :grouphug: :wizard: pixiedust: (jobs, illness, family, etc) and :welcome: to all that have joined. Hopefully I will be able to stay caught up now – yeah right – I am sure reality will interfere yet again.

Okay, I have caught up. Thanks for all the kind words and pixie dust. I will keep my "dis" family informed. I am making lemonade!

Terapin - good luck with the lasik. My "eyes" are not eligible.

The wedding gowns are gorgeous - love them both.

The MIL stories are scary and funny - I adore my MIL. I lost my mom 8 years ago and although she is not mom, she is the next best thing!

I love the pictures of the sandwich - the Darrell sandwich. We saw a show on the Food Network - I think it was "You can eat that" it was a special or something, but anyway, my husband laughed because that is his name. I am glad someone I know ate it and said it was good.

Steffy - her comment about the socks on the plane made me laugh. First time I laughed in 24 hours! Thanks Steffy - your comments were so sweet and cute. Thank you!

Okay, I am sure I forgot somebody or something, but I will get back to worrying about my husband -

It is such a shock losing ones job. I right now am actually loving being home. I do hope things look up for your hubby soon:hug:

Thats a recoerd, 3 hours and nobodys posted!:scared1:
Heck where is everybody,Ive delivered 3 scotty pups and nobodys been on,lol:goodvibes(could have been doing with Sarah:cutie:)

OK, so I have held off on the inlaw chat as DH (Buckeye Goofy) tends to point out where I am wrong, but what does this tell you... :rotfl2:

The Grandkids all refer to DH's parents as Grandmom and Granddad CRAZY
Their house is referred to as "Happy Farms"
and they are lovingly referred to "THE Crazies" by their children

I think my mom is fairly well grounded, but the situation is weird now that she took her fall. But, I think that Glenn called her Joan or Mom and not Crazy... :lmao:

Yes it was on Man vs Food. That is where i heard about it.

Yes they are french fries. This sandwich was about 9 in long and it only cost $5.75 Also if you can eat 5 in 45 mi. you get a sandwich name after you. I was full after 1.

Oh my... I can't imagine eating something like that!!! I am stuffed just looking at it!!

This reminds me of the time we were in Florida and we went to a place called Cheeburger Cheeburger. Tony decided in his wisdom to try and eat the 1lb burger ... he managed to eat it, plus fries, and got his photo taken and put up on their wall of fame. He couldn't eat another thing for the rest of the day ( very unusual ) and didn't go to the loo for days :rotfl2:

and we have photos :

I have been to a cheeburger cheeburger!! They had/have one near where our business used to be. We ate there once, it was good, but not great... But, Sarah - the photos are great!! i can't even imagine eating a 1lb burger!!

Okay, it's early morning here and my mind is not completely awake so I really shouldn't post, but I'm so confused...'

All this talk about the airplane bathrooms, loos or johns.. the place where the toliet is... and the filthy floors.. and the socks I'm confused.

I've never flown overseas. Are you required to fly shoeless??? I don't walk barefoot in my own home. Why would I have to put on socks to go to the bathroom and let them pick up the nastiness?

Where are my shoes????? :confused3:confused3 What has the airline done with my shoes??? Why do I need socks for my freezing feet? Where are my shoes??? I'm freaking out here.:eek:

Oh my!! Thanks for the chuckle, but you can stop now as it still hurts!

In all seriousness, you have to wear shoes to fly, but I like to take mine off. My feet tend to swell and they do better without shoes... I learned this flying to CA for a business trip... Needless to say on the home bound flight I was in socks.

For the record, we got nothing flying across the country - well, we got the complementry pillow and blanket but that was it...

I am so NOT a morning person - even on the cruise - so if we do this maybe we can just do this the same night we stay up and do laundry - then I can go to bed after that :)

Great idea!! not that I am thinking I that I *WANT* to be up doing laundry from 1 or 2am til sun up, but we will probably start "chin wagging" and it will be sun up before we know it...

I have a similar allergy to mushrooms. Took me ages to work out what I was allergic to, and only after 3 trips to the Emergency dept did I find out it was mushrooms. My tongue and throat swell up so that I have trouble breathing and I now have to carry an epipen like others have mentioned.....:sad2:

OK, so I am / was allergic to mushrooms. It started with an allergy to pennicillin that was very severe. I was in the hospital overnight... Then cream of mushroom soup set it off and yep, another trip to the ER and another over night visit.

I swore off of mushrooms and the drugs...:rotfl2::lmao:

About 8 years later I was working for Bennigans at a new store opening and someone popped a fried muchroom in my mouth and we ended up calling 911...

BUT, I seem to have grown out of it from a muchroom perspective. I can eat them now... Sauteed, fried, stuffed - all good. I haven't tried (nor has a Dr. been willing to try) PCN - too risky as my throat closed up on me...

I have just spent the last 2 days at my daughters student house where it took us all that time to clean it and clear it....7 students shared the house but there was just one other helping out...the others moved out and left all the mess for others to clear

I crammed dd's things into every nook and cranny of my little car but then Becky had to get the train home as there was no room for her! :rolleyes1 Next week we get to do it all in reverse when she moves into her flat for the next student year.......:confused3

I am exhausted!!!!:sad1:

So glad to hear that your DD is doing well! Good on ya mate (Hayley - i am learning!!!) for cramming all of her stuff in you car!!

With all the tal of socks... I can understand that, I wear sox just going to Orlando from Las Vegas:rotfl2:
Question is.... What do you wear to fly such a long distance? I dont want to arrive in Barcelona looking like I slept in my clothes, OK... so I did.
So what's more wrinkle free, or wrinkle less???

( BTW... my pool is now"Bath water time" 98* and temp yesterday 114)

Annie:cool2:

Can I come over for a soak? We are getting storms every night at right about the time I would head to the pool. Hopefully this pattern will change... Although ;ast year it didn't and I seem to pay HOA due for no reason... :: sigh ::

Hey Everybody - I have not caught up yet because I was not on the boards yesterday - we received some bad news. My husband lost his job yesterday so we are in limbo. I am still on the cruise!!!

It is just a curve in the road I know and life could be worse - a lot worse, so we are smiling and together and he is working hard. Just wanted to let you all know that is why I have been so quiet. MISS reading.

Glad you are still with us, but so sorry to hear about SH's job. Times are tough right now and I don't know of an industry that hasn't been affected. i work for a company that writes software, and we have seen rought times. But we are finally getting out of it (thankfully).

I think a lot of us will be arriving just a bit tired and disheveled, but who cares? That means our cruise is about to begin!!

As for shoes/socks on the plane, wearing socks to the bathroom is totally gross. If the socks soak up what's on the floor, then what's to stop the stuff on the floor from completely soaking the socks and then soaking into the bottom of your feet? Just the thought of that makes me . I always wear slip on shoes which are easier for security anyway. I take them off once I am situated, but they go right back on if I'm heading to the loo (okay, I'm not from UK but how often do I get to use that word?).

Ok, so I need to get the sandles that I get with a pedicure so I can keep my soes off... Got it... I love to be barefoot! I HATE shoes...

I am starting to think about a travel outfit... I read an article about how Americans travel frumpy and not necessarlily comfortable. With that in mind I am looking for something that I can fly in, and then do the drive home in...

I used the term Loo today in a meeting... Sounded goofy, but bettery than what others were saying...

To entertain them and get them even more excited about the cruise, you should play them the following:

Heck where is everybody,Ive delivered 3 scotty pups and nobodys been on,lol:goodvibes(could have been doing with Sarah:cutie:)

LOL - too funny Lynne!

It's been great. I have actually been able to catch up!

Amen to that!!! One fullday at work and I am behind by 8 pages...

Have to share... Beca gets her cast off and a re x-ray tomorrow morning. She is excited, but also seems to understand that she may get another case... She is already talking about colors just in case...

We haven't heard from Stephens counselor, but we know that they have had storms daily. I hope thathtey are dry, and am patting my self on the back for packing clothing for him in a waterproof spacebag. At least I know he got to the cave with dry clothing... He told me I was being over protective, so hopefully he understands why I did what I did... I can't seem to accept that my Baby is growing up... I still have a little one, but Stephen and I have a bond that i can't explain... Hopefully when he is ready to get married I will approve... :lmao:

So, 77 days until we leave!! Cant wait! I packed all of our FE gifts, candy exchange bags and CM gifts yesterday. Becca could leave tomorrow and while I would need to do laundry, she could do our time in Spain and 6 days onboard without me needing to wash... I have my evening wear packed and I got a tag on pour front door that I had a package to pick up from the post office. I think that is my formal!!! wahoo!!

Are cabins being assigned yet??? Is anyone else getting VERY excited??? Am I aslone in getting chills thinking about the trip? (Is it my fear of flying???) :confused3

General question... If you are multi posting and you have too many images, is it Ok to delete duplicates from the original post??? LOL _ i guess I should have broken this into multiple multi posts...

The 1lb burger:
IsitniceTonylike.jpg

OK, DH want to know where this place is, he reckons that burger looks like a nice snack. :rotfl:

Oh, Steffy, you made me laugh out loud. I see Sarah has explained the answer to you. We will be travelling for over 34 hours to get to Barcelona and I prefer to take my shoes off on the long flights, but at the same time I don't want some strangers urine on my feet, I usually wear socks in my seat and to the loo, if the floor gets too yukky I will pop my shoes back on before I go. :thumbsup2

I have just spent the last 2 days at my daughters student house where it took us all that time to clean it and clear it....7 students shared the house but there was just one other helping out...the others moved out and left all the mess for others to clear

What a good Mummy you are! You are really earning your right to relax on this cruise. :thumbsup2

Thank you for all the nice comments about my "almost-DIL" story. Hayley, I didn't mean to make you cry!

It's OK, it was happy / sad tears. It was a lovely story and worth the tears. :goodvibes

Your nearly there! :thumbsup2

Question is.... What do you wear to fly such a long distance? I dont want to arrive in Barcelona looking like I slept in my clothes, OK... so I did.
So what's more wrinkle free, or wrinkle less???

Annie, I usually wear leggings and a stretchy dress for comfort. I think Noel mentioned leggings to. I have the horrible fear that if the plane goes down they'll find me legs spread, upside down, with my underwear showing, :rotfl2: so leggings are great, comfy and keep you warm. I have worn jeans on a Brisbane - LA flight which is 13 hours, but they weren't very comfortable.

Sorry to hear about your DH, I hope something pops up soon. I am glad we aren't losing you. :goodvibes

I didn't like the color of chocolate ice cream and still don't like or eat it to this day. Worst ice cream on the planet for me in rocky road as it has both things I really hate, marshmallows and chocolate ice cream.
How could you not like chocolate ice-cream, I thought everybody liked that! :rotfl: I am not a huge fan of marshmallows, but don't mind them in a hot chocolate, BTW, is the hot choc on board the same as the parks, I think it's Nestle, It is very yummy?!?

I think a lot of us will be arriving just a bit tired and disheveled, but who cares? That means our cruise is about to begin!!

Totally agree on both counts, after 34 hours we will look more than disheveled! I will take a change of clothes and get showered and changed in London at the British Airways lounge, that way when we arrive in Barcelona if our hotel isn't ready we will at least be showered. :thumbsup2

Thank goodness they are still young, but i think perhaps some homework may be called for so they don't forget everything.
We have to keep a journal for school, maybe that would be a good idea? :confused3

If you don't mind me asking, you didn't say you have stones, Is there something else that is making you gallbladder not function well? I have 6 tumours or polyps, but a lot of people have them with no symptoms, I have symptoms and attacks, was wondering if there may be a secondary issue. My GP is pretty useless, just wants to take it out. If it is too much information I will totally understand. :goodvibes

How many flights do you have? You must have a long layover in London. How do you get into the BA lounge? Do you have to be one of their frequent flyers?

I don't know how long our flights will be because I'm doing DCL air, but I'm sure it won't be 34 hours, so when I'm travelling and my boys ask me how long until we are there, I'll say "At least we don't have to travel for 34 hours to get to the cruise". I haven't told them we'll be doing a red-eye, yet. I'm waiting until I get the details.

I am not allergic to tomatoes ... I just can't stand the things ..I don't even like to look at cut tomatoes with tha horrible gloopy middle :scared1:
I have a problem with kiwi fruit .... my eyes itch terribly and my eyes and lips swell up.

Sarah- did you know that kiwi allergy is a cross-reaction to latex? Have you had any problems with latex? With our line of work it is so common...

As for the wedding dress, at the moment I can't make up my mind between those two styles, but I suppose I will have nearly another year before I need to make up my mind.

pic305.jpg

pic194.jpg

For both I am leaning towards ivory rather than white.

I found that as a bride recently (DH told me tonight that we had been married 177 days today :lovestruc) the strapless gowns are difficult to, um, not have slide down over the course of the night with dancing and everything. And I found as a bigger chested gal that they made my chest look humongous and more towards my waist than they are! I found I liked the support of straps and a place to hide bra straps if needed/wanted. Just my two cents.

Oh that is sucky news. I'm so sorry. DH is soldiering through his layoff and we are keeping him very busy at home :worship:, but layoffs are a real blow to the ego, and really suck the wind out of you. Best of luck in finding something great soon for him!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes about the Lasik. I had a second consultation today with another very reputable place and I think I am switching to them. I liked the chatty CEO gal who walked me through everything and she gave me lots of information about their process and etc that was really reassuring. Every time I think about walking, on my own free will (but with some valium on board!) into the surgical suite to have it done I get a cold sweat.

I hate anything medical - even the dentist! I cancel every appt I make with the dentist, multiple times, before I actually go. Ironically, I am a midwife, assist in surgeries, resuscitate babies, suture, catch vomit and worse, put in IVs, and control often heavy bleeding, etc., without any issues whatsoever - but for my own self personally, I *hate* even simple blood draws. I was a terrible 'patient' with my last baby with my midwives! I find as I get older it makes me more anxious. So that's the only problem I am foreseeing: severe anxiety until it's over. But seeing as this is my choice, I have to stop being daft and just jump on board and forget the stress. Right? Riiiiiiight.

We fly Brisbane (Australia) to Singapore to London to Barcelona.
We are Qantas Club Gold members, it is part of the Oneworld alliance, so we get entry to BA, AA among others. We are also Qantas frequent flyers, I think you get entry into the clubs when you reach a certain level.
I think the red eye is better, at least you are tired and can sleep, it makes the flight go faster, and then you arrive semi refreshed. ;)

:lmao:
The Crazies on the Happy Farm, Sounds interesting! :lmao:

In all seriousness, you have to wear shoes to fly, but I like to take mine off. My feet tend to swell and they do better without shoes... I learned this flying to CA for a business trip... Needless to say on the home bound flight I was in socks.

I think lots of peoples feet swell, mine do too, and my hands, my rings get really tight, takes a few days to go down.

Lucky you grew out of it, I love mushrooms, you would be missing out! My BF is allergic to peanuts, ironically my absolute favourite meal is satay, she doesn't know what she's missing! ;)

So glad to hear that your DD is doing well! Good on ya mate (Hayley - i am learning!!!) for cramming all of her stuff in you car!!
Well done!!!

Ok, so I need to get the sandles that I get with a pedicure so I can keep my soes off... Got it... I love to be barefoot! I HATE shoes...
I'm not a huge fan of shoes, we tend to wear Havies (Haviana thongs) here most of the year, Winter is soft leather ballet flats for me. I very rarely wear heals!

I am starting to think about a travel outfit... I read an article about how Americans travel frumpy and not necessarlily comfortable. With that in mind I am looking for something that I can fly in, and then do the drive home in...

Leggings are always a winner with me!

I used the term Loo today in a meeting... Sounded goofy, but bettery than what others were saying...
You could go Aussie and call it a 'dunny' !

Have to share... Beca gets her cast off and a re x-ray tomorrow morning. She is excited, but also seems to understand that she may get another case... She is already talking about colors just in case...
I hope it's all good and she doesn't need a new one. :cutie:

We haven't heard from Stephens counselor, but we know that they have had storms daily. I hope thathtey are dry, and am patting my self on the back for packing clothing for him in a waterproof spacebag. At least I know he got to the cave with dry clothing... He told me I was being over protective, so hopefully he understands why I did what I did... I can't seem to accept that my Baby is growing up... I still have a little one, but Stephen and I have a bond that i can't explain... Hopefully when he is ready to get married I will approve... :lmao:
I don't think kids appreciate what we do for them until they have kids of their own, Well...I didn't appreciate what a wonderful mum mine was until I had my own kids.

I think that is my formal!!! wahoo!!
I can't wait to hear about your formal dress, Let us know how it turned out, how it fits, etc...

Are cabins being assigned yet??? Is anyone else getting VERY excited??? Am I aslone in getting chills thinking about the trip? (Is it my fear of flying???) :confused3

Nup, and I check everyday! :rotfl:
General question... If you are multi posting and you have too many images, is it Ok to delete duplicates from the original post??? LOL _ i guess I should have broken this into multiple multi posts...
I alway do it, ummmmaaaaarrrr, did I do something wrong?

Hey Everybody - I have not caught up yet because I was not on the boards yesterday - we received some bad news. My husband lost his job yesterday so we are in limbo. I am still on the cruise!!!

It is just a curve in the road I know and life could be worse - a lot worse, so we are smiling and together and he is working hard. Just wanted to let you all know that is why I have been so quiet. MISS reading.

Sorry to hear your DH's news. My DH has also been looking for work for awhile. Though he's still looking, he's also enjoying the extra time home and with the kids, and we've enjoyed the additional flexibility we have to travel, including this cruise and others.
