Is the dessert party worth it? Trying to justify the $216 expense for my husband, myself, 5 year old and 7 year old to do it.

Also - if it is, can I purchase two tickets now and two tickets in two weeks? Just trying to budget everything out.

Thank you!!

We enjoy it and will be returning for the 3rd time in August. "Worth it" is very subjective. I don't know what would make it "worth it" for someone else. What are you wanting out of the experience? Have you done other dessert parties before? I think it's the best one in WDW right now. We have done Wishes and Illuminations too. You can spread out buying the tickets, but there is no guarantee that spots will be available when you go to buy the other two. I don't know if it's been selling out quickly or not. Here's a good thread. Look at page one for info and reviews.

We have never done a dessert party before. If we were to do any of them, it would be the Star Wars one since my kids and husband love Star Wars. Do any of the characters show up? And by what I mean with worth it, I mean it's $216 for desserts and drinks for my family of four. I guess I'm just trying to justify the extra expense that's all.

I seriously doubt you will ever find anyone telling you that on food/drink alone it is worht the price tag. I haven't done a dessert part before either but I plan on doing this one if it is still offered in January. Like most other add-ons, it is about the experience. For a Star Wars lover, this seems like a great experience with some good food/drink options as well.

If you decide to purchase, I would do it all at once. The last thing you want is to purchase 2, then find it sold out when you go to purchase the rest.

From a food/drink standpoint, it will never be worth it. However, not having to camp out for the show may be priceless for some. I think this one is particularly good though because there are alcoholic drinks as well as some savory items. You can only eat so many sweets. In fact, the pita bread and dip was what I ate the most of.

You do get to meet some characters, and stormtroopers will escort you to the viewing area. Very cool. It's worth it to do at least once IMO.

Worth it is very subjective as the above poster states. For me, I can not eat $80 worth of deserts/savory snacks. I do love the alcoholic drinks, so with all of those things together I come out pretty even. DD does not drink, so for her, she would not eat enough to justify $80.

For us the best part is the reserved seating for the Star Wars show. Having our own space, not lining up an hour a head of time and no crowd issues is priceless. We have a great time at the MK and DS parties as the reserved space is worth it for us.

Almost forgot, if you book it, ask for the Mickey ice creams. They have them hidden away and you only get them if you ask!

Do they still offer the mickey ice cream bars and the other ice cream novelties (not the nutella) available?

The "is it worth it question" is almost impossible to answer. It is incredibly subjective and everyone's situation is different. I try to think of it as what other entertainment experiences I could get for around the same money and decide from there. So at just over $50 per person, it is less than half the price of a day in the parks, as an example. Or equivalent to the admission at a local admission park, or the cost of going to a dinner show at WDW, etc...

As for the Star Wars Dessert party itself, we really enjoy it and have our 3rd one booked for our upcoming trip. There are no character meet & greets, but you will have Storm Troopers walking around. You are inside Launch Bay so you have easy access to the character meets in there, but you get no special access to them, you will have to wait in line. The food at the party is good. There are a few savory options and lots of great sweets along with plenty of different beverage options (alcoholic or not). The one big disadvantage is there is no seating (with the exception of one bench near the stairs to exit the party area). There are tables to stand at, so you don't have to try balancing food and drinks, but it can be rough on your feet especially after a long day in the park.

For me one of the biggest advantages is a reserved viewing spot for the show, which they lead you to at the end of the party.

So I guess my answer is, if it is in your budget then yes I think it is a worthwhile experience.
