Star Wars: Galactic Starship (resort experience) News

Imagine a business booking the entire "voyage". Prize for top salesmen.

Star Trek Experience in Vegas, way ahead of its time, offered wedding packages. Small wedding on the bridge of the Enterprise, performed by a starfleet officer.

How much is CL at the GF? $1000 per night? How much is a character meal? How much should an immersive star wars meal cost? $125? Private party at Batuu?
Entertainment on the ship.

This is a premium product designed for a small number of guests.

I’m a huge Star Wars fan. Cosplay with 2 screen accurate costumes… I know a lot of super fans. A lot of them don’t seem phased by the pricing and are excited to give it a try. I think Disney knew exactly what they were doing when they built and priced this.

I think a lot of people are looking at this from a Disney fan's perspective and talking about pricing this towards the premium 'Disney' guest as an add-on. BUT, this is targeted towards the Star Wars fans of which there are a ton. I know plenty of Star Wars fans who hate Disney and wouldn't be caught dead in the parks until Galaxy's Edge came about. There are plenty of non-Disney fans who are interested in this and it would be the only reason for stepping onto Disney property.

None of us are phased by the pricing as long as the experience can deliver ... I think they'll keep this packed for years

yeah..i mean honestly, Disney could have built this in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa, and they wouldnt have a problem selling it.

I trust that the imagineers are going to build an immersive experience and it could very well be worth the price of entry. The thing that I worry about are all the other people. With people paying that much and the pressure of a vacation, plus kids and the intensity of fans, I could see there being plenty of people with no chill that sour this costly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I've gotten to the point where I only go to movie theaters that have an aggressive ushering protocol - like the Alamo Drafthouse where people talking/using phones/being rude they will be removed. I hope for that price point they would manage the experience.

In the past we've paid for expensive shared experiences (example True Dungeon - which is like a haunted house w/ interactive rooms & puzzle and roleplaying elements- like a massive multi-escape room). Whenever we were in a mixed group of friends and strangers there is often someone that is a poop in the punchbowl and it really takes the wind out of the experience.

In the same vein- I hope that they discourage filming after previews - I'd hate to pay all that money for an immersive experience and have some vlogger hollering to smash that subscribe button. Photos & family filming? sure but that should be the extent of it.

I won't disagree with that statement.

I want to try this so badly, but unfortunately the price puts it just beyond my reach. I hope that someday the price will come down, but the realist in me knows that I'll be more likely to see a boost in income before the prices change in a more favorable direction. Knowing this exists, though, means that I can dream.

Yes, I’m waiting to see initial reviews, but already planning to give it a go. Texting with my sister, we are thinking of tacking it onto a longer trip staying somewhere more reasonably priced (like POP). When that trip happens? Who knows.

Remember what we've seen is effectively rack-rate pricing. I imagine after 6 months (a year?) of burning through people that'll pay anything for it they'll have hotel-equivalent discounts - say knock 25% off... On the other side, I wonder how much they'll charge for a special NYE, Christmas, etc. version of this. 5/4/2022 also will probably cost extra.

This is definitely us. Childless Millennial supergeek couple who literally met through fandom. Cosplay, LARP, the whole 9 yards. And we love Star Wars to death. My gf was asking me about going before I could even bring it up first.

You and I are 100% on the same page (I have an Alamo season pass, even). And literally every time I've ridden Rise I've silently thought to myself how much more enjoyable it would be with people who are "all in" with the experience, instead of being crammed in with normies taking selfies and making fun of the CMs. I'm willing to bet there's a lot more of us than people are assuming.

5/4/2022 is probably when they'll launch, with a cruise that's just VIPs, actors from the films, or social media influencers.

I'm a pretty big fan of Star Wars, but not a $5k for 2 days kind of fan (childless millennials here). But if this was Harry Potter themed instead? Take my $5k!! So I definitely think the market will be there with super-fans initially. But I'm just not sure I see the demand for this long-term? The repeatability factor? It seems so incredibly niche. But I imagine there are people way smarter than me behind these decisions. Will be curious to see what happens!

Yeah, I was looking it over just now and I can't see people paying that kind of money for this in ten years, especially since it's based on the sequels which got a very mixed reception. Not sure why they didn't base it on the original trilogy, but I guess it has to match Batuu.

I also wonder how guests are going to deal with the parts of their stay where they have to do things like "plan a heist" or "hide a stowaway" or "arrange to steal a ship". What if you don't want to do any of that stuff, you just want to relax and enjoy the SW ambiance? I'm going to be interested to see how this all plays out.

Some of it sounds like playing laser tag or paintball from the interactive standpoint. I wonder how authentic it will feel or if it will just be corny.

I'm hoping for walking distance to HS!!! Is that possible?
you will be taken to star wars from the hotel period, you will then be taken back. so you are paying $5,999 for 2 adults and one child for a 4 days and 3 night experience.
straight from the mouse's mouth. Have a nice time. I love star wars but at that price I can go on two 5 day cruises with the entire family of 5 have the kids in a camp having fun at night , a casino or dance club for us, two pools, all you can eat anytime of day or night, etc. Been going to Disney for years, not a fan of their food.

Try 3 days, 2 nights - and it’s actually get there at 1:00pm, full day the next day, leave at 10am the next, so more like 2 days and 2 nights. I’d be excited for 4 days/3 nights!
