The Edison.....

No. Not "inspired by". They are the same company.

The Disney Springs Edison will be run by Patina Restaurant Group, and I don't see the LA Edison listed on Patina's website, although the future Disney Springs Edison is mentioned there. This is why it looked to me like different companies.

Included therein is the statement: "The Edison in Florida will be quite similar to its sister location in Los Angeles."

Also...here is a job posting (emphasis added):

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Patina Restaurant Group will bring world-class cuisine to the Disney Springs outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex at the Walt Disney Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida near Orlando. Four new concepts that will be connected as part of one large complex and will be introduced to Disney Springs in the Fall of 2017. Each of the concepts are housed in key locations that play an integral role in the Disney Springs origin story, such as the former airline terminal, an underground rum running tunnel, and the former electrical power plant, providing rich territory for story-telling. The Edison – with an estimated opening of November 2017, is a lavish “Industrial Gothic” restaurant, bar, and nighttime destination with live entertainment. It presents cabaret, burlesque and music, craft cocktails, and classic American dishes. As it is an extension of our Downtown Los Angeles location, the concept continues as “where science meets industry” and the venue is rooted in creativity, imagination and innovation. Patina is looking for experienced and dedicated leaders to join our team and lead this brand new adventure.

Great, thank you for this info.

The place sounds very cool. They most definitely will NOT have a mandatory dress code - it would guarantee most people take a place and that space is HUGE. They will need every body they can get. I can totally see the servers doing it up, though - and it will definitely be the "go to" hangout after Dapper Days.

Anyone been by it the last couple weeks ? Are they even close to opening ? They're going to need to go ahead and get those doors open by 11/25 - that's our only DS day on the next trip :)

Source is common sense. Disney can barely get guests from the parks going to a 200 seat signature restaurant to wear a collared shirt - they are not building an enormous lounge in the middle of a resort and then turning away 98% of the guests who want to stop by and have a quick drink while shopping because they didn't pack a costume and change before walking up to the door. Not happening. They will recreate the vibe with the servers and staff, but there is absolutely no way they are enforcing anything like that with guests. It would be economic suicide.

One cannot use the word "definitely" if the premise stated is based on opinion and conjecture. The notion itself is oxymoronic. Everything that has been revealed so far suggests that the DS locale will maintain the burlesque vibe of the original. Their job postings even say so:
"The Edison – with an estimated opening of December 2017, is a lavish “Industrial Gothic” restaurant, bar, and nighttime destination with live entertainment. It presents cabaret, burlesque and music, craft cocktails, and classic American dishes."
One cannot discount the possibility that the business model is not "typical Disney" and the target audience is Orlando locals and off duty Disney and Universal cast members and not collarless tourists wearing sandals with compression socks. It appears that the venue will be divided into several separate areas. There is a very good chance that at least some of these areas will have both an age restriction and a dress code. But I cannot say "definitely". Nor can you say "definitely not".
