Trip report- A tail of two seashores.

Ok , so today was cape may county zoo. A great zoo! They are constently updating the land outside, so now plenty of kids playgrounds and bathrooms. The zoo is super clean and good for a few hours. Its donation only so, give what you think is fair. Or get some bling in the store. Bring a picnic lunch and eat outside. The park is big. They also added a ropes course. Its on the other side of the park and we didnt attempt to get in as it was packed today. 20210806_115634.jpg20210806_103445.jpg20210806_105525.jpg

Tonight was dinner at menz. Its an old time establishment that i have been going to since i was a kid. Its still the same. Menu is the same and so os the decor. Both are realy good. Its a must do for the area, and locals. I took some pictures of the decore, its a large place and this is just a few rooms. They also have a old time candy store in the middle of the store for the kids. You can get candy cigarettes and cigars. 20210806_181742.jpg20210806_183546.jpg20210806_181816.jpg20210806_183546.jpg20210806_183622.jpg20210806_183620.jpg20210806_183637.jpg

Ok not much today, my old boss stopped in for a few. I figured no one wants those pictures! We did manage the pirate boat race. So cardboard and duct tape and make a boat. Each boat needed to be captained by 1 person. Max 2 per boat. They had a gun go off to start the race and had diffrent heats. It was packed, and 20210807_133531.jpg20210807_134018.jpg20210807_134344.jpgwe got there to see some of the finals. It was a blast for the kids and kids at heart.

Ok so we had a lot of rain the other night. I spent the morning cleaning up stuff that got dirty. As the weather was cooler and cloudy still we decided to head back to the light house for a nature walk. They have some nice trails and boardwalks through the wetlands here. Good to see birds, eagles and such. After that we hit the pond at the campground, I floated around in a tube while the kido went down the slides. Due to work i had to cut the trip short by a day. So we packed up camp and left for home around 7pm. All in all a good little campground. We had fun and saw the sites. 20210808_125430.jpg20210808_125954.jpg20210808_133931.jpg20210808_132742.jpg

That's it for this half of the trip, i will resume posting when we go to seashore state park. Untill then , have fun!

Ok, so today is packing day. Tomorrow we leave for Delaware seashore state park. I have the rafts, and some sand stuff for the kido. Hope i remember the air pump this time, and the adapter to use it! For some reason, after checking the site number i thought i was in a diffrent spot. This may have been because i had to cancle last year. But i was looking forward to a spot on the bay, and im not on the bay, but like 3 sites in. Oh well. The campground looks nice, but i have never been. No shade , and close sites, but it is walking distance to the beach and has full hook ups. So that is a plus. It has veiws of a bridge ( not sure yet what bridge) and sots along an inlet. Some say the boats and cars are noisy. All good. I can handle it! No open fires permitted, but i couldn't find info on propane fire pits. I guess i will find out. Pictures Tomorrow!

Ok , we made it , set up and allready hit the beach for a few. So, thats good. The bad is qe almost didn't make it. Going over the delaware memorial bridge, they had construction. Someone hit one of those big blorange barrel things and it ended up right infront of me. We were doing about 55, i slowed and swerved as much as i could, but i hit it on the front left of the truck, it then got kicked back and hit the front of the camper. Bent and ripped out the bottem screws holding the bottem dimond plate on the camper. Also removed my break line. So, i fixed the breaks and figured the top screws would hold it untill i can fix it at home. Its not bent, and i think my pvc tube for my extra sewer hose took the brunt of the hit, or we would be in troubble.

Campground is nice but split, so campstore is only acessable by car. Beach is close and we had low tide.its windy, but i ties the awning to those screw spikes, and to the picnic table. Im happy, we can easily see the inlet with a 30 second walk. And the beach is 5 minutes away. Bathrooms are nice and free. We didn't take the ferry over because the tides didnt agree with the time we were leaving. If you dont catch it right, the articulation between the camper and the TV will hang up on the ramp. 20210826_142733.jpg20210826_152140.jpg20210826_152145.jpg

Wow glad you made it but that sounds like a harrowing experience. it feels like everyone needs a little less drama in their lives right now.

Sid sorry I didn't r think you were coming down Rt1 today we live less than 5 mile from the RXIT 119 Rest Stop. Have a good Time in the Shadow of the Indian River Bridge. If you are on the Bay side Summer Fluke ie FLOUNDER fishing there isn't too bad.

Ok so , we went to in Maryland, sonce it was an hour away. But its brutal hot out today. We stayed about 2 hours. I asked if we could get our money back if we didn't see any horses. The attendent was less then amused by this. Qe did drive around and see them. But they even thought it was too hot for the beach! The last one is a where is waldo, can you find the crab? 20210827_121147.jpg20210827_121123.jpg20210827_115528(0).jpg20210827_112928.jpg

The crab or the horse? Lol. The crab scrurred across our site. Those things move fast. We dont have them in jersey.

Rounded off the day by looping the campground. If you have never been here its almost 2 small seprate campgrounds. They are on each side of an inlet conected by a bridge. The bridge has a bike/ walking path. It atually has really cool veiws of the area. One side of the campground has a store, mostly a few t shirts ice and milk and eggs. Pretty bare. Also one side are all pull through sites and a few tent sites. On the tent sites were some vintage pop ups. Mostly colmans from the 1990s., I will be staying on that side next year. I dont think the sites are as big or nice over there. But i had 0 choice. It was the only one left for next summer. Thr side i am on now are all back on sites, and are plenty big enough for what it is. Room for a tent or a clam type shelter. Both sides have overflow parking.

Ok since you all post food pictures, we decided to go out and eat at the local marina. But after reading the reviews, decided to just cook at the campsite. Its still brutal hot out at 630 pm. We were going to do cruella on the projector outside. But i think the venue will change to inside because of the ac. 20210826_192934.jpg20210826_193001.jpg20210827_174918.jpg20210827_175347.jpg

Nice. Very pretty.

Good looking grub

Ok today was tame, beach day and then we went to Bethany beach because they had an arcade and decent places to eat. Beach was nice, water was a little rough. We tooled around on some rafts. The arcade was fun, but the kids got like no tickets for the money spent. So , like the simpsons i paid 50 bucks for a plastic mustache and comb......they did ramp up security around here, they parked an em 50 urban assult vehicle by the walking path. 20210828_184631.jpg20210828_184701.jpg20210828_185220.jpg

Forgot to add last night the sky opened up and we had a bad thunderstorm here. I had to get the awning in at 130 am. Yea, i shoyld have known better , but it was tied down. So everything soaked, and the campground had like 3 inches of standing water. My daughter left the e scooter pluged in , so the charger was in the water. That blew the ac breaker, but i didnt see it untill the am. Otherwise we made out good, execpt for getting drenched. Woke up at 6 am , and set everything out to dry. Tonight i will roll the awning in, lol!
