can you use both points and pay for extra days. if you want to save points and pay for a few nights will they let you do that. want to save points for another trip in which we will be getting a two bedroom. won't have enough points if i use all points for this trip. this trip would be less costly money wise since we are getting a one bedroom.

You can book villas for cash if they are available. And you might have to move. Some points categories are not available for cash stays either through DVC or DRC. Like BW view at BWV or standard view at BWV or BCV dedicated with two queen beds in the second bedroom.

You will definitely have to check out and check in again and you might have to move when you check back in. If you book the cash stay through DRC and not DVC, you cannot link the two reservations. But if you book through DVC, you can link them and the cash stay will be treated just like a points stays (limited housekeeping, etc).
