What’s your biggest regret ?

My biggest regret is the men I dated and one I married before I met my now husband. It took me a while to get it right.

Going to the wrong dentist for some complex implant work. Researched him carefully - he checked out. But his treatment plan didn't work: created a problem I can never fix that will likely result in dentures eventually. Saw other specialists who confirmed it.

Broke my heart as I am diligent about hygiene and spent a lot of money on my teeth over the years.

Laws in my state make it virtually impossible to sue dentists and win - there are many sad stories far worse than mine. Attorneys are rarely interested in taking a case: usually harder to win than med malpractice and no big settlements.

I've made money mistakes, but I recovered from those. The dental thing is #1 regret. But as someone said earlier, I made the best decision at the time, given the info I had.

And reading about the earlier poster in that horrible auto accident certainly brings important perspective - so sorry for that nightmare you experienced. It is so scary how a few seconds of bad timing on an otherwise normal day can change or end a life.

My husband is a perfect example of the few seconds of bad timing. 10 years ago he was riding his motorcycle to work and it was cooler than normal that morning so he took the city streets instead of the interstate. A person turned out of an apartment complex towards the sun without clearing her windows. Her obstructed view turned into a blinding view. She drifted into his lane and hit his left leg with her car breaking his femur, tibia, and fibula. So a small regret would be that I had the car the night before or that he did not take the interstate like normal.

A bigger regret would be not going away to college. I graduated at 17 and was what they would call a young 17 I chose a local private college and took out student loans for part of it. Like a previous poster I had a really good ACT and was 2nd in my class. I should have taken the full scholarship at one of the state schools about 6hrs away.

Inadvertently "self-mutilating" my skin, as a teenager, when trying to "scrub away" my chronic cystic acne.
