I realize none of us may or may not be “UP” on the etiquette of Ms Emily Post. But I think etiquette plays a part in our vacations. I’d like to create a thread that gives tips on what is or what is not appropriate etiquette in WDW. This includes in the parks and the resorts.

For example: If you use a Bellman, at least $1 for each bag is an appropriate tip. $1 tip per person in room for Mousekeeper. Bikini top at a non-water park – do they “fit” the WDW family atmosphere. I’m not judging- I’m just asking!

Many issues including dress, behavior, tipping, dinning, etc.

So we can keep this thread alive, please be respectful and please remember we are just expressing our own opinions. So lets keep this friendly with pixie dust!!!!

Best one I know is don't stop dead in the middle of a busy path in the park. Move over to the side to confer, think, gawk, etc. Also, if you're slow moving traffic, keep right. :D

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

It never hurts to let someone by you in a line if you are not ready to go, to open a door for someone and be very careful and nice to people in EVC's and wheelchairs...Think of it as if it were someone you know...:D

Your stroller is NOT a battering ram.

If you see your exit on the right and you are in the far left lane it is NOT required to cut across three lanes of traffic at high speed. Turing around is not a sin!

That line... it's for you. Unless you have a GAP you have no excuse not to stand in it with the rest of us. You aren't that important.

I know it's Florda, but wearing a swimsuit top to the park is not appropriate. (Especially if you are not built like Miss America.)

Disney does not provide a personal flusher for you. FLUSH the toliet (and if you felt the need to strew toliet paper all over the stall or tinkle on the seat instead of in the bowl - clean that up too)

djm99, here's one:

Take the "Nah, Nah Nah Nah Nah!!!! WDW here we come!!

off of your trip counter.

Dress Code seems to be slipping. Last year I saw way too much at Disney. I think CM have become laxy daisy (sp)? In any event. On our first trip several guests were denied entrance as they were a little too dressy and revealing (nipple ring could be seen through clothing) But this year I saw bikini tops on girls and cut offs with cheeks hanging out??? I'm not a prude but I can't understand one code one year and then seemingly no code the next? Is there a dress code that is posted and adhered to?

I like being able to feel secure knowing there is a dress code and keeping it "family" oriented.

Hi gang!

Just a reminder to keep this thread 'family friendly.' Although I love this topic and I wish it would have developed a lot earlier, please keep in mind that there are young DISers that read these boards, so please keep all posts appropriate. Also, please don't direct your comments to a specific poster; personal attacks and personal messages will not be allowed.

Personally, I agree with the bikini top post. Unless you're in a water park or swinning pool, wearing a bikini top in public is not appropriate.

Why I love it!!!!!!!:p

djm99-That was definitely NOT meant to be a personal attack. Sorry if you were offended. The thread topic and your trip counter was just too funny not to mention.

Have a Magical Day!

I'm not offended - honey that counter keeps me going.......

In light of all of the brawls at recent sporting events, I would LOVE to see a little more attention paid to the Golden Rule!

Treat others as you would want to be treated!

Also, Smile once in a while!
Say "Thank You!"
Treat all people with courtesy!

When we're on vacation, we still need to bring our manners!

As far as acceptable behavior in the Parks...

Cutting in line: NOT

Repeating stuff you heard from a sailor visiting port: NOT

Initiating procreation in public: NOT

ANY behavior that parents may find questionable in front of CHILDREN: NOT

Can we extend this to the Concierge Lounges?

Bunny Slippers: OK

Night Mask and Evening Gown that accompany them: NOT

Children in the lounge: That what we're here for

Children usage "offerings" as projectiles: NOT

Families playing games and enjoying lounge view: Perfect

Families sorting out parental lineage of children in question: NOT

For I didn't exceed the bounds here, but we've witnessed just about all of the above.

Parents yelling at your children....we can all hear you and louder is not better.

A sports bra is an undergarment, not an everyday top.

A group of 8 should not walk down every street/sidewalk side by side blocking the path for all others behind them.

Also if you see a group of 2 or 3 people walking together closely do not walk right in the middle of them just because you dont want to move to the side. Its not that hard just move a little and theyll move.

Oh yes most of all don't walk in front of people when their taking a picture. Just wait the 10 seconds for them to take it. I will not ruin your vacation.

I agree with cathy59 - I wish more people would exercise the golden rule, especially with CMs.

On our recent trip we ate at the food court several times and I was so surprised at how many guests were rude to the servers - i.e. "uh, yeah, gimme the scrambled eggs...oh and I need a pancake platter, too" rather than "good morning, I'd like the scrambled eggs please..."

Being polite and acting with courtesy and respect always comes around and makes your day that much more pleasant.

How about leaving the profane language at home!!! I once witnessed someone using quite a few curse words, while my 3 yr old stood next to me. You know how 3 yr olds are, they repeat EVERYTHING!!!

Say Please and Thank You. How hard is that?

Don't try to sqeeze your body in a space that is there so I can breath during the parade/firworks/line.

Be patient.

I agree with almost everything already posted....

my biggest pet peeves are:

the stroller/battering ram comment

stopping in the middle of a walkway

parents who do not control their children

how about no frowns in disney. only happy faces at our own kids and others. (even if for no other reason than they are NOT ours.lol) :D
