Welcome to my DFTW PJ!
I am a very long time lurker, so I cant believe I finally get to make one of these things for my very own wedding! So exciting! Right now we are planning for a July 2013 wedding. I just hope I dont run out of things to write about between now and then.
((There's a table of contents in the next post to navigate this monster thread!))
About the Bride: Hi, my name is Nicole and I cant wait to be a Disney bride. Im currently in my last (aka seventh, yikes!) year of university. Im a historian and a costumer/costume designer, but still mostly in a student capacity. I love Disney, as Im sure you can all well imagine. Ive only been to Disney World three times... can you imagine? Im looking forward to rapidly increasing that number in the near future. Oh and I like to make a lot of costumes for myself and, occasionally, for friends. Like Disney princess costumes. Yeah, Im that kind of Disney fan. I also have three cats and I'm Canadian. I think that about sums me up.
In case it wasn't obvious, I love The Aristocats and I also love cats.
About the Groom: His name is Bryan. Hes a high school teacher (summertime wedding here we come!). He can sometimes be prevailed upon to wear costumes that I make for him, but I have yet to convince him to accompany me as a Disney prince. Nevertheless, he clearly loves me very much to indulge me at all. And before anyone starts to think its just me, hes a big Disney fan too!
DF also loves cats. Especially Disney Cats.
How We Met:
So, our story begins in December 2005. Its not the most exciting story, so Ill try and keep it pretty brief. We met through a local history organization where we were both volunteering. On my first day of volunteering, I was helping to make balloons and serve cake for their open house. He says he was surprised when he saw me there; he wasnt used to seeing pretty girls at the events. Of course... you could probably replace pretty girls with ladies under 60 and get a better sense of the type of people that generally attend.
We casually met at several more volunteer opportunities during 2006. And then we finally got to become better acquainted in the summer of 2006 when I was offered a summer job at the same local history organization at the same time as my DF. (As a side note: to give you an idea of the unlikelihood of me actually meeting someone that I could form a relationship with at this job, there were a grand total of eight employees which is more than usual and only two were actually male.)
Finally, at the end of the summer there was a BBQ celebration for all the employees, and my DF offered to give me a ride home at the end. On the way home he asked me out, and although there was a lot of confusion on my part about whether or not that first date was actually a date-date, the rest is history.
When he proposed, wed been dating just shy of five years.
And since that story was a little bit dull, here are a couple more photos from our recent Disney (Engagement) Vacation.
