This has got to be the new winner in the mascot competition!

Just had to tell everyone that although my 50th birthday isn't until tomorrow, that I've already had my first "Senior Moment". I had the sudden realization last night that I had mailed off our passport renewals on Monday but forgot to enclose the payment for the processing fee! When I told my DH about it this morning, he laughed and said that maybe they'll take pity on me and process them anyway. Uh-huh.... NOT. Of course, when they see my new passport photo and compare it to the one from 10 years ago, they really might want to take pity on me.

It's not the years... it's the miles.

Oh dear!!! Senior moments - had plenty!!! :rotfl: Never mind, I imagine they get a few applications without payment. Easy done.

You poor, poor thing!!

So, do you have to send in more renewals or wait for the old passports to be returned??

Maybe you can call them and give a credit card over the phone??? Here is their phone number: 1-877-487-2778.

That reminds me of people who do that with their electric bills to buy them more time.:rotfl: ;)

One team is having a discussion as to whether they should be getting a gift for every family that has registered on this thread through AuntyBrat or will it be everyone who has some type of fish extender/stockening. I think I posed this question but thought I'd throw it out again. Anyone have any input?
Lisa

I would say only those registered in this group. This group will probably be at least twice the size it is now by the time we're ready to cruise. Plus, by doing only those registered here we will know exactly how many gifts to bring.

I agee.:thumbsup2

having coordinated a gift exchange on our last cruise....I caution us about the delivery to those who don't have fish mailboxes. We ended up having to track people down and it lost it's charm after a while....I'd like to include everyone, but not have to deliver to a "person" but a location so that once we do it it can be done with. Clear as mud?
I understand and I can really see how the project would quickly "lose its charm" trying to find people. The ship is huge! Running around and stressing out isn't what it's all about.

I agree.
Those registered and have some type of fish extender. Maybe we should also consider a cut off date to be "registered". Which would leave the teams and individuals enought time to get their surprises together.

I agree. This seems very reasonable.:goodvibes
This should be fun, right?

Noel: Have you heard anything on that concept of licking the banana slug? I figure you can snope it in the time it would take me to remember to snope it.

Of course now that I've said that I should just go do it, but alas....girl scout cookies call me (no not to eat) more cookie booths this weekend...the good news is Molly has already sold her 1000+ boxes so this is gravy selling no pressure.

talk with you all later tonight :flower3:

Now, don't tell me people lick that banana slug?!:scared1:

Oh, and please tell we what 'snope' means?:)

Being newbies to all of this great excitement and planning for the cruise our 2cents worth is to have a cut off date so we have time to order the gifts for all and that each stateroom needs some type of fish extender or what-not to put the gift in because I have leg weakness and sure would hate to have to try and run around finding folks.

Much more fun to sneak the gift in the fish extender and then run away (sort of reminds me of May Day as a child and leaving the cute little gifts at the door and running away). :cutie:

I agree! Although my kids will be doing the running I will walk!:rotfl:

I am considering doing the Minnie Marathon at WDW on May 6, but no one in my party is willing to go with me:sad2: Has anyone ever done this? We'll see if I can drag myself onto the treadmill enough between now and then to get in shape to do it :rotfl: Most likely, I will figure I am on vacation and sleep in instead! I am not much of a runner anymore but I think it would be so neat to be running through WDW. This one is a 15K, starts at AK and finished at Epcot, with a stop through MGM. No MK though.

That sounds like fun! I don't run, but I've been walking nearly every day, so I'm thinking I should be able to walk the Half Marathon...Woody and Mrs. Woody have inspired me!

I just had to post that I got a letter from the school a couple of weeks ago that we could opt out of parent-teacher conferences this year because my DD was doing so well. (Which the teacher encouraged) :rotfl: The conferences were this week and I found out that only 2 other kids in her class got this. I feel even better about making my decision for next year.:cool1:

Not snope but here you go:

The next time you are tramping about in the forest (which we hope is at least once a day, if not more) and come across a banana slug, sneak up on it and give it a lick. Not just a touch with the tip of the tongue, but a full-on 'puppy dog happy to see ya' kind of lick.

As you watch the slug shrink away from the sudden stimuli, you will notice a most remarkable chemical reaction: your tongue goes numb. The slimy trail of slug ooze is really the only adaptation for slugs to have a chance of survival when lapped up by some human-looking puppy dog. Truly biochemistry at its finest.

Note - this does not hurt the slug. It only spooks it a little. In no way does this entry condone slug abuse. Of course, how would you feel if you were just scooting along the forest floor, minding your own little slug business, when... slurp!!!... you got licked? So don't do this too many times to one slug. Just use some common sense.

And there you have it. So, the next time you are in the wet 'n' wild forests of the Pacific Northwest, bring a friend. Tell them you want to conduct a 'serious biochemistry experiment', in which you need their full co-operation. The rest is up to you.

Maybe you can call them and give a credit card over the phone??? Here is their phone number: 1-877-487-2778.

Thanks, I already called first thing this morning but their voice mail system didn't have a number to punch for "D'oh" (and it didn't have a "hang on the line for an operator" either). But it did give an Email address, so I sent an Email. It'll be interesting to see what happens. We're not in a big panic about it since we're not planning on any trips until this cruise next year.

P.S. Don't tell my new boss about this. My big selling point during the interview process was my "attention to detail"!

Now, don't tell me people lick that banana slug?!:scared1:

I know, it's a gross thought isn't it. And the next question would be WHY would anyone desire to do that?

Oh, and please tell we what 'snope' means?:)

"snopes" is a website that tells you if something (like an urban legend or those emails that tell you child is missing and to pass the email along) is true or fiction. The website is www.snopes.com.
