I think I've read before that he's 19. Oh, to be so well-heeled that you can afford the CR Atrium Club at such a young age!!! It took me a lot longer than that to buy my DVC points...

My information (from CL hosts) indicates that PINs/lanyards are rarely worn by CL hosts. And there are no 'special' PINs for CL guests... Gold plated or otherwise.

I'm really a bit alarmed about the leaks from the Atrium Club. I've stayed there, and well, the first rule of Atrium Club is - you do not talk about Atrium Club. The second rule of Atrium Club is - you DO NOT talk about Atrium Club.

Gosh....you are right!!!!!!!!!! I totally forgot about that

But then again, when we stayed there the 12th floor was being refurbished and we had to stay on the 10th floor. So maybe we did not "actually" stay in the Atrium Club. And maybe those were "10th" floor pins I saw and not "12th" floor pins. I will have to check with my sources and see what they say.

Based on the other posts made by this DISer, when he says he visits WDW with his family, he is referring to his parents. Several of his posts refer to his dad, etc. So I would guess that his parents pay for Atrium Club.

But yes, it would be wonderful to be 19 and afford concierge!

Because we always stay on the Atrium Club, so because he does not stay up there he has no right to up there. So if he thinks he can right the elevator all day he is beyond dreaming and living in a fantasy world.

Also the shop at the Beach Club where I got the pins is not a members only area, so don't even compare them to the Atrium Club lounge.

I am sorry but you actually think the Cast Members will take you up there and the Cast Members working up there will take time out of their day and stop helping guests who are paying $485.00 per night, (lowest rate possible in the value season) to help you look for a pin that is not even real and to top it off you won't be staying up there.

Actually, yes. About 2 years ago I was considering booking Atrium for my family (this was right before we purchased DVC). Before making that kind of financial decision, I went over to the Contemp. to see if I could check it out (we were there for a meal anyway). So I asked if I could be taken up to the lounge with a CM to see if it would be worth it for my family, etc.

No problem. Up we went. Yes, I had a CM escort, but all I had to do was ask. (I should note that it was Sept. and right after a hurricane, so it was a very slow time.)

This makes excellent sense for Disney resorts with Concierge accommodations as this is a great way for them to entice people into paying the high price tag that comes along with booking Concierge. You see it and then your plain ol' room or resort just doesn't compare anymore. Next thing you know, you are booking CL. It is a win for Disney.

Also, I am not sure what the percentage is (and I doubt anyone here actually has the figures), but a good number of people staying at the CR report getting free upgrades to CL. Thus, not all guests are paying that high price tag. These upgrades may have been before the refurb,., not sure, but for a while it seemed that just about every other post I read about someone staying at the CR got upgraded to CL.

How do you know if you have points against your account? You are right about the ignore - i think my mother always told me something like that when someone would say something not so nice or mean. It was somthing like ignore them and they will get no satisfaction out of their actions or maybe it was ignore them and they will go away- sometimes it worked and sometimes not but it is worth a try.

OK, in all seriousness... they ARE just pins, right? Nothing to get huffy about. People trade for CM and other 'exclusive' pins all the time...

Well then....aren't we having a good time here. Thanks for the laughs you guys. I can't believe anyone would come here, boasting of getting a DVC member pin, and then ask if we think it was okay to do!!! Then, when DVC people get a bit on the snarky side, he wants the thread closed??!! Can't imagine what he thought our responses would be.
Being a moderator, I just can't say some of the stuff I would like to, but man.......! Anyway...carry on!!!

OP, on a more serious note....

We have all been young. You sound very fortunate that your parents have been able to provide you with a lot of luxuries. I'm sure that you thank them every day for being so generous, and for providing you with special memories. Treasure each day of your time with them.

Unfortunately, being young sometimes means that we lack judgement, and say or do things we later regret (of course, that is not always just reserved for the young.... )

Some things are best left unsaid. So you bought pins which you were not entitled to purchase. So you think it unfair that fat people live longer than your relative. So you think that offsite guests shouldn't ride Disney transportation. Those are your opinions, apparently, and yes, you are entitled to them.

Just be aware that if you continue to post them, you will receive responses that may not be in agreement with you. Someone pointed out earlier that this in an unfortunate habit, and it does have unfortunate consequences.

Enjoy your pins. Enjoy your time with your generous parents. Be grateful for what you have received so far in your short life, and pray that you will always be so fortunate.

Certainly you need your KTTW card to access the 12th floor to get to the Atrium Club -- if you want to do it alone. Why not just wait in the elevator for someone else going to the 12th floor and tag along -- perhaps the CM might even be willing to give you a secret Pepsi while you chat and trade some pins.

This child doesn't pay for Atrium Club, he gets it for free. I would "dust" my child's pants for such an attitude. I always tell my kids "let them eat cake"(or cookies).

If you want it closed, send them a private message. I hope a lesson has been learned here. Sometimes it is best to just leave well enough alone and not ask certain questions.

Also it is best to know who you are dealing with. DVC members and the regulars here are not much into the "What If" or "What Would You Have Done", questions unless they pertain to DVC specifically.

We are here to discuss Disney Vacation Club and to help people plan trips. If you don't want a repeat of this type of discussion it would be to your advantage to rememeber that in the future. Members here are brutally honest.
