DDA Chapter 4

I believe it, as I've seen it firsthand. I'll have to watch for those voice alarms.

It's nice to know that some of the emails you get really aren't junk.

Wow! Thanks for posting that!

No problem. My cousin who sent it is deaf and she is so very scared of anything like that. She whisked Molly away from the fireworks her first 4th of July. She didn't want it to hurt her ears. Mo was 2 1/2 months old.

Uncle1 just e-mailed that he wants us to all go to DL together. If that happens I will need LOTS of help! I will keep you posted! :rolleyes1

The poster is sort of coming together. We made a Mt. Olympus out of a paper sack. Still haven't made it to the craft store.

Well, the fun didn't stop around here this morning! At about 6:15, the smoke detector in my bedroom began going off! :scared1: I leap out of bed, grab my dog (who is shaking like a leaf), and begin running around the house to see if there's smoke. Nothing, no other detectors are going off, plus the one in my bedroom stops. I go and pull one of the cars out of the garage and get up in the attic to check up there, since that is right over our bedroom. Nothing - no smells of any kind. Smoke detector starts going off again inside the house - we replaced all the detectors in the fall, brand new batteries, etc. I ended up dragging the extension ladder into the house, getting it down, and changing the battery out. That seems to have done the trick. I thought I might have heard it go off again when I was back in the garage putting everything back in place, but if it did, it hasn't gone off since, and that was almost 4 hours ago. Obviously, my house isn't burning down. If it goes off again, I'm calling the fire dept. and they can come tell me what's going on!

I think I've had enough "life lessons" for the week! :sad2:

And with that, I need to get back to cleaning my house! I should have just stayed up after all my fun this morning, but I did go back to sleep for a couple of hours, and that has put me behind!

Have a great Sunday, DDA! :flower3:

You certainly have had a rough week!

We have often had our detectors begin "chirping" like they do when the battery gets low (which always seems to happen in the middle of the night  ).

Ours always have that perfect timing, too!

Deb thanks for the update from Vicki. Glad to hear they are having a wonderful time!

Tia sorry you had such a long night, hope you get some rest today.

Lindsay what a scary morning for you! I would have done the same thing, after the fire in our basement I will always check to see what is making them go off.

Elizabeth good luck with the poster & with the possibility of going to DL!

Tammi I was going to post the link for the lithographs, you beat me to it :thumbsup2

It is so nice here today, right now it is 71 degrees! Tomorrow is a different story.

I hate always coming on and posting about my upside down life but here it is:

I had to take Jim to the ER this morning....goober was being a baby and wouldn't walk so I had to call the ambulance. Thankfully a friend stayed with me for the entire time.

Official ER diagnosis: acute laryngitis. I am so thankful for our medical care but it is very expensive at a time when our purse strings are pulled so very, very tight.

On top of that I've gotten a whole lot less sleep than he has because they don't give beds to those stuck in the ER for 5+ hours with their loved ones (plus I didn't sleep much anyway last night).

My cousin sent me this link in regards to kids and fire alarms- Very scary.

Wow!!! I can see now what Tammi means. That is scary!!!

Robyn - DS would be happy for me to do ALL of his projects for him. He doesn't even like to help. He did make a flag out of craft foam, and he made a little fisherman for the boat. We still need to go to Joann Fabrics and look for some grapes or olives or something. They sent a bunch of coupons that weren't valid until today so we didn't go yesterday. We looked at Party City and there was NOTHING that we could have used, so hopefully we'll find more stuff today!

Hope it's still going well! :wizard:

The good news - DL is SO much easier to do for the first time than WDW. It is nowhere near as overwhelming. Glynis gave me some great tips before we went in '06, and I also bought the Underground Guide. The Guide isn't nearly as extensive as the WDW one, but it gave me some good hotel/package tips that I used that were awesome (unfortunately, they don't apply any more  ). Passporter now has a DL guidebook, and I bet that would be a big help, too! :thumbsup2

I had forgotten that you had that fire! I'm sure you're extra-sensitive to things now, and rightfully so.

Enjoy your weather! We've had a warm weekend, but storms are brewing. I was telling my mom is that all I need to top my week off is some sort of hail or severe storm overnight. We are to plummet back into the low 40's tomorrow behind this front, and might even see snow! It was 80 degress here yesterday!

Oh, Theresa.   I'm glad you had a friend with you. I'm sure we've all done that ER sit/wait job in the wee hours of the morning - and you're right, they are not kind to the loved ones unfortunately. The only time I was ever offered a bed in the ER was when it looked like I was coming down with the same thing (food poisoning at WDW), but knowing what we were going to be out for the ER already for Jonathan, I just sucked it up.

Is Jim home now? I think you both need lots of sleep and rest tonight. :wizard:

O man Theresa--you have had alot going on...

Theresa - I'm sorry! I hope you get some rest tonight and that Jim is feeling better.

Lindsay - I still have the PMs you sent me from Glynis about DL. Obviously this trip would be WAAAY in the future if we do decide to go. At least not until Spring or Summer of 2009,depending on everybody's vacation schedules. My friend who used to work for a local AIDS agency is now living in Vegas and working as a travel agent (which is what she did before getting into social work) and she has e-mailed me a couple of times to let me know she can get great DL deals. I might let her work up some packages for me if we can nail down a timeframe. The Uncles are also fond of our local AAA agent, but if we went that route I would have Chanon handle our stuff.

The poster is done. This is what I learned:
Plastic grapes are very expensive. If you are going to buy plastic grapes you should NOT leave your coupons at home.:headache: The craft store only sells short metal fasteners - for long ones you must go to the office supply store. When you push the fastener through the foam-core board you have to be REALLY careful, because if the board bends it leaves a BIG wrinkle that can't be fixed. That could cause a 4 letter word to pop out of your mouth.:rolleyes1 If your child is a snot he might look rather critically at the board and wonder aloud what else could be added to make it look better, because the board wasn't SUPPOSED to be white. Never mind that white is all they sell at Target. Never mind that this project already cost us about $20. (Which isn't THAT expensive, but for something that has no practical use, it kind of IS expensive.) We do have plenty of nice blue Saran Wrap and a bunch of craft foam left over, as well as a big box of fasteners so our next project will be cheaper. ;)

he is home now and lucky duck has valium...and he's sleeping but I knew if I went to sleep it would be tommorrow before I woke up and I hadn't eaten anything until I got home. Plus I had to make sure the girls were okay.

Thanks for the hugs.

I was just glad I had already planned a no brainer dinner for tonight....open and heat or reheat.

Lindsay we are suppose to have a high of 29 tomorrow, that is a 40 degree difference from today  Of course snow is mentioned in the mix as well. I'm tired of these little teasers of warm days, I want it to stay!

Here's the project board:

we had the same thing yesterday into today.....beautiful all sunny and 70+ and today was blizzard strength winds and 26 when I went by a thermometer at 2:30 today.BRRRRRRRRR!!!

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

We are getting ready to go out and meet my brother and his family for lunch and to spend some time in the area.

Tia - Kathrin's apartment is on Addington Road, off Winthrop Road. She is high above Washington Square. I swear the girl is trying to walk the final 70 pounds I want to lose off of me this weekend!!

What a great location! I love how the roads circle around right there. I'll bet it cuts down on traffic. You could definitely walk off a few pounds around there! I figure that's probably one reason that I didn't gain much weight while I was living in Boston. I may not have been losing it due to diet, but I maintained well due to exercise. I hope she's settling in well! I'm just so dadgum jealous!

I'm glad that it was nothing too serious, but :wizard: that it's not too much of a strain for you guys. :grouphug:

Nice poster, Elizabeth!

Lindsay - Hope the detector leaves you alone tonight.

We had a good day. Ended up at my favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch after Dad found out that no one else liked the one he had chosen. After that, we took the kids to the park for an hour or so. Once we came home, we cleaned up the bazillion small sticks all over the yard and then I chased Terra up and down the sidewalk while she rode her bike. She's getting pretty good at it and I think I'll move the training wheels up to get her to balance herself more. Now, I'm just hanging out and hoping that my daughter is worn out enough from lack of sleep, two minute nap, and much physical activity to want to head to bed soon. (One can hope anyway!)

For now though, I'm going to go find myself a snack and tempt Terra away from playing with Phil. Catch you all later!
