DDA Chapter 5

So DH The Enabler has been telling me I should buy a laptop. :rolleyes1
I usually don't pay that much attention when you guys talk about your laptop woes because I wasn't planning to buy one. So, if you wouldn't mind recapping them for me that would be great! I know there have been lots of keyboard issues, and some other things that needed to be fixed by the warranty. I know Jen is ready to pull her hair out. Please tell me the manufacturers of these lovely machines, tell me what sort of extended service plan you have, where you bought it, etc. We looked at Bast Buy today and I decided the dang things are too expensive! By the time you add all the crap to make it work even the CHEAP one was going to cost over $900!

Thanks! :)
Mine is a Sony Vaio, 2 years old, and so far no problems. Knock on wood.

Tapas sounds fun! I think my friends and I are going to one for my birthday-of course we'll have to go early or late cause I already have plans for my birthday.;)

Why wouldn't you cancel your current birthday plans for tapas with the girls?? ;)

Thanks! I got the first pass of the taxes done. Now I just need to check them to make sure they are right. I did go to JoAnn's and bought some Cars fabric and Butterick #3832 for top B(the orange one). I made a simular top for a niece years ago but this one is even better-no buttons! The only thing I was finding were for babies and I was glad to have found this pattern. I think Emma will like the lack of seams. It seems perfect for WDW. I'm really excited to make it! I saw SOOOOOOO many cute fabrics-not too many Disney ones but some really cute other ones.

That is so cute, and I think the model looks a bit like Emma!

I might have recognized that.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think it looks bright and cheery for a kid's room. I also think it will last into his teenage years (hopefully)

I think so too, and no matter what your mother does or does not say, as long as it looks like Hunter wants it to... that is all that matters!

I have a small Compaq Presario, Elizabeth. It cost me about $800 and I purchased no additional warranty. It is not my main computer, although I find I am using it more and more. Kathrin has a Toshiba that she paid only about $600 for and loves. She did purchase an extended warranty with hers.

I have one suggestion... after you check out Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Circuit City, etc... look at www.qvc.com. They often have the same computer configurations with a slightly different model number at approximately the same price. The benefit from purchasing through them is that they often have their laptops on Easy Pay. You can take 3-5 months to pay for it that way. I did not buy mine through them, but wish I had looked first. I think we will be getting Kristin a laptop as a graduation gift and I will probably purchase one from them.

Good Morning DDA,

Janet - I'm sorry to hear about your friend

Robyn - Glad to hear that Joe was discharged

Amy - WOW, that's a lot of baking, can't wait to see Noah's pictures with the frog

Elizabeth - my laptop is a Gateway, I got it at Best Buy, but I refuse to brag on it because sure as I do . . . . . . One of my requirements was a full size keyboard, I always use the number keys on the side at work and would be lost without them.

Deb - Love Hunter's bedding and curtains, I also like the stars on the wall in the picture, I have no doubt you could do them on Hunter's walls. I have always let my daughters pick out their own decor for their rooms, it's just a matter of repainting to change it. We have had splattered walls, Panda borders, once we had a border made of pictures of family and friends. Right now DD's walls are a dark teal with silver sponged over it, she calls it her Mermaid room, whatever floats her boat.

I do have to use the low odor paint that is available at Lowes whenever we paint, paint fumes trigger my asthma and the low odor doesn't have any odor. I also use fabric softener to remove wallpaper, it really does work.

Deb I love the colors Hunter picked out for his room & I agree with Elin. As long as he is happy, who cares what others think.

Elizabeth I have a Dell laptop, so far so good(knock on wood!).

Robyn glad to hear Joe is out of the hospital :thumbsup2

I do have some good news! Olivia(my grand niece)is doing much better. She has been moved to another room & they removed her pic line from her tummy(this was giving her antibiotics). She still has a ways to go, but she is getting there :thumbsup2

Thanks for the well wishes for my friend & her family. As with any death this is very hard for the family. It does not help much now, but at least she is not suffering & is at peace.

Well there goes my plans to get my laundry going early this morning, we barely have a trickle of water. We obviously have a broken water main, there is a huge flood across the street where the line is.

I called and they said they sent out a crew two hours ago, well no one is out there now. . . . . . .

Elizabeth

laptop #1 HP...I spent $2000 Dual hard drive...but it was for work...and I wanted a bunch of different features. Because of the price, I did buy the extended warranty. Luckily I did, because one of the hard drives died. They did replace it...and it has been working great. I will NOT however, buy another HP...the tech support is terrible...don't even get me started!!

#2 Toshiba $800 Best Buy no extra warranty...this is for travel purposes. Works great....no issues, tech support is fine

#'s 3, 4, 5..All gateway $600 no warranty..these are for the kids. They all work great! Tech support from Gateway has been phenomenal!!! Jackie spilled on hers...and shorted out the keyboard...they replaced it at no charge! I would have no problem buying a Gateway for myself...and when the time comes, I will.

#6 Apple don 't remember the price...but it was ridiculous. This was Jonathan's college gift. He loves it...but I am not into apple. He has said the tech support is great

Costco cakes are delicious! My department head used to order one for every English teacher's birthday. Yum!!!

:wizard: for you Sally! Please post some pictures of your meet and greet with Jeff Gordon!

I love their cakes!!! Have you had the 7lb chocolate cake? I am not a chocolate person generally but I love that cake!

And yes Sally please post some pics from Wednesday! :wizard: that you are feeling 100% by then.

I should really make the cookie dough before I crash. Have a good night DDA!

Did you get your dough made?

Tapas sounds fun! I think my friends and I are going to one for my birthday-of course we'll have to go early or late cause I already have plans for my birthday.;)

Hope things dry out!

I might have recognized that.

Can't wait to see froggie photos!

I love that pattern. And I agree with Lindsay and Elin, the model does remind me of yourEmma.

Thank you all for the hugs concerning my friend. Sadly her sister passed away this morning :sad1: She was only 47 years old :guilty:

Oh Janet, I am so very sorry. to your and your friend's family.

Hunter's floor isn't done yet, so I'm not taking pictures yet. This is the set that I bought for his room.

We found lime green curtains for under the valance

Picture the above with Mickey code red walls.

I think it looks bright and cheery for a kid's room. I also think it will last into his teenage years (hopefully)

I love it! And I can attest that the lime green and red go very well together. Emma still loves her room and it's been 5 years.

It does sound good that Joe has been discharged! Hopefully you will get to have a full conversation with him soon. Really, if there is anything we can do on this end please let us know. Just don't ask me to cook. :rolleyes1

I've never had a Costco cake, but Sam's makes a darn tasty cake! :thumbsup2

Mmmmm. I like Citrico's. :goodvibes

Oh, Janet, I am so sorry! How sad for your poor friend!

Deb - If Hunter likes his room that is all that matters! I think the pics you posted are cute! :)

Our Sam's just opened so I've never had their cake. I'll have to check there too.

Thanks again for the help :goodvibes

That's great news!

I think so too, now if I can just get in touch with him I'll feel better.

Can you tell me more about the fabric softener to remove the wallpaper? I am very curious, I've never heard about it.

Thanks Janet. :yay: :yay: for Olivia. Continued :wizard: for her to keep getting stronger.

Again, I managed to waste most of our morning! I did however make a korker ponytail for Emma to match her soccer uniform so not a total waste I guess. I need to get my self ready. We are picking up the in-laws in an hour. Emma's game is in another town. This will be the only thing I hate about her soccer, all the traveling.

After the soccer game we are going straight to Emma's classmates birthday party. His mom insisted that we all come. While I think it's very nice of her to have included all of us, Eric is absolutely not thrilled at all. But he'll go and suffer through it! The classmate is the little boy that has autism that Emma helps out. She is very excited as she couldn't make his party last year.

Have a great Sunday DDA!

Deb...I really like the color scheme a lot! I have something similar for Christopher

Have you guys noticed how much easier it seems to make an ADR since they have changed the DDP? I have been adding things, changing things and have had no problem getting what I wanted for June...interesting!
