Agreed. Here's an idea if you're rushed. Take the monorail over, jump on the train and exit at Frontierland and watch the parade up there. There's always better places to stand up there. Then you can walk toward the castle if you want to see the fireworks.

Another one who thinks you should try to get into Ohana early... even though it is January there are LESS nights of SPECTRO so I think it might still be busy....

I have another question about Spectro...and Wishes. Is there a place where you can be to see both without moving? If not, where are the best places to be? Is it even possible to do both the same night?

Alright, ladies. I've got a question. How many of you have used Tourguide Mike and/or the Unofficial Guide. Cause I'm using both for planning, and they don't always agree 100%.

I would love to hear some real life feedback. If you used either one, share in what ways it helped or hindered your trip. If you used both, I'd LOVE to hear how they compare and which one you would recommend! I might even head venture off our little thread and start a thread on the trip planning board to see if others have an opinion on this. I love TourGuide Mike. But Unofficial Guide is awesome too. See my dilemma? :rotfl:

Morning Snowbirds! I'm getting a late, late start to my day and was shocked to open the board and see all the new posts! We'll definitely be on a new thread by the end of the day! :cool1:

Peaches, I am using both UG and TGM. My sister and I have been working on the itinerary and have been taking some of TGM and some of UG. We use TGM for days/times for parks and rides, then the UG mainly for where to eat and other helpful tips. I've heard tons more people say they would never travel WDW without TGM then those who lean on UG. I think they are both great though, and I guess i'll see how well it works once I put it into action!

Count me in, this thread is awesome :worship:
I'm a Canadian Snowbird :lovestruc

We arrive at CS on Jan 18 (10 nights)
We're still debating if we want to do the DDP this time because we already have our list of favorite return places including Coral Reef, Ohana's, Boma, Tusker House, Chef Mickey's, Cape May Cafe and really want to go to Le Cellier.

I'm only starting the countdown when we hit double digits. :rolleyes1

When we return "home", DH is turning 29 again (with 12 yrs experience  )

Ooops, I’ll review both the Guide & Tourguide Mike etc. and come up with a mix that works well for my family because DH always reminds me “I’m on holidays remember not WDW bootcamp”

Has anyone seen a CODE yet?

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope you have a great Disneymoon!!

Btw may I ask from where in Kansas you reside!! I grew up in Junction City (which is right next to Ft. Riley which is right next door to Manhattan)

Thanks! I sure we'll have an amazing time.
I currently reside in Manhattan, so I definitely know where Junction is. My fiance and I are at K-State right now. He's in ROTC majoring in Criminology and I'm majoring in Sociology.
I spent most of my childhood in Olathe though (that's Johnson County)

Congrats on the wedding..... it must be so much fun planning.....I love weddings.... my DD says she wants to get married at Sunset Point at the POLY.... guess she better find some new parents to pay for that one....;)

Haha... yup. I threw out the idea of doing a destination Disney wedding, but reconsidered when I saw my budget, and my mom told me I can keep whatever is leftover. It was either everybody enjoys Disney with me, or I get an AWESOME trip with just me and my new hubby. Just tell your daughter to marry rich... to someone whose parents LOVE Disney.

Welcome to the Snowbirds. We are a bit looney, but we love to PARTY! FYI - we kind of use the Dancing Banana as a symbol (that's way back from July, I think).

Maybe we can get a banana yellow Mickey Head from Home Depot as our special Snowbird DIS symbol, along with the LGMHs. We should probably do something to find each other when we're there. Seems pretty likely that we would run into each other.

Oh, and Becca - your Disneymoon. If I remember way back when, I don't think I'd be interested in eating out every night! Maybe a few room service dinners ;) Congratulations.

Haha... I premeditated that problem, which is why I only have 4 dinners, and none of my breakfasts are early. I was considering the Deluxe DDP, but then I realized we would most likely never make it that far.

Just wanted to let you know I get a real kick reading your posts. I think it must be all the COOL people :cool1: that are going to WDW in January ! You all have such a fantastic sense of humour.:thumbsup2

Just a question for anyone who wants to answer.....are we supposed to be posting our ADR's? I've seen a few and wondered if I missed that step in the initiation process......:upsidedow

It's definitely all the cool people that are going in January, and we get to be funny, because we're paying less for smaller crowds. Muhahaha!:cool1:

I purchased a subscription to UG. I haven't tested it out yet, but I find it promising. Really, I just like the idea of having a plan. I by no means plan to adhere to it 100% though. I'm planning on a little wind travel, otherwise I think I'll drive my boy crrrazy.

What about nuts??? Is there a little nut smiley guy?

:squirrel: This was the best I could do...see him there in the cute little squirrel's hands?

Does anyone know who's in charge of the smileys from which we get to choose? Wow, that sentence is proper grammar, but it sure makes me sound like a snob! :snooty:

Squirrels sound good.

I have my Bachelors in Biological Science (emphaisis on Animal physiology) and am 6 grad credits away from my MST which is the equivalent of being able to teach Science in a post secondary institution. I'm currently taking a epidemiology class (study of infectious diseases) and I love it!! But I could go on for hours on my love of Science.

I teach 5 sections of high school Biology and 1 section of Dual Enrollment Biology/Zoology for a local public junior college.

Wow... Science people amaze me. It's the one subject that goes over my head. I am however taking a Biology class at the moment and got 100% on my first test. I was VERY proud of myself.

WELCOME to the Snowbirds!! :goodvibes

Jenjolt~
You are a genius!!!! I have found that the older I get the more I loooove Science! I think life has a lot to do with it. That & the fact that I had the most BORING Science teachers ever created!!!!!! I really started to love it in college in the A & P classes. I would love to go back & take those again. My kids think I am nerdy anyway-----I am an unashamed bookworm and love Science and Algebra. So, I guess I am an official book-nerd!! And proud of it!!

Trixie~
I know!!! I thought about it when I saw my ticker!! After today, no more 4!!

Are you saying I was dorky? :lmao:

I know some Snowbirds that could use a behavior conference.... just saying....

:lmao: :lmao: Well, if the shoe fits...

On a completely different and terribly sad note, Scot, my dh, just witnessed a pedestrian being struck by an SUV near the Old City of Jerusalem. Mass chaos broke out as people tried to flee the scene due to the awful accident that happened the other night. Scot said he never saw a body so mangled. :sad1: The woman was still moving...

Scot came home from his meeting completely shaken up. He said he didn't understand why because he worked in a max security PA state prison and saw lots of violence. But he just said it was awful.

Praying that the woman and the driver are okay. It was a UN car...and praying that all the witnesses can forget what they saw.:sad2:

I don't want to put a damper on the festivities. Just thought I'd share with my fellow snowbirds since you are becoming like friends.:goodvibes

Oh that is terrible Peach3es.

These are a few pictures I have access too.

This is me, two of my younger brothers, and my younger sister at the Garden Grill during our last trip. (and of course Pluto but y'all recognize him)

This is me and my youngest brother Adam waiting in line for Expedition Everest. Yes, I have a book, and I still have not finished it almost 2 years later. (it's really hard to pay attention to reading when Disney is going on around you) I dragged poor Adam on that ride with me. He survived, but I don't think he would ride it again.

I have a couple more, but they're mostly of the same people. I'll try to upload some older photos from earlier trips later.

That's so horrible. While we were in Prague my fiance saw someone after they had gotten hit by a tram. I am just happy I wasn't with him at the time, because I don't think I could have handled it. I hope the woman and the driver are ok as well.

WoW what a small world!! I am a Junction City Blue Jay graduate! My Aunt lives in Overland Park so I am familar with Olathe!! I also attended my first three years at K-State so I completely know what you are talking about when you say you are taking Biology class. Do they still have the computer labs for Biology? I loved that class!!

:grouphug: Peaches...... how terrible.... for everyone.... I will keep you all in my thought today............

Yup, they still have the computer labs. I enjoy it just fine most of the time. Yesterday, I wasn't really in the mood for it, because we had a test on Monday, so my brain was at overload level. Last night I had some chill time though. I got on here and went to bed early, so I don't feel as overwhelmed anymore.
