Car Rentals in May

Dropped again... yesterday at $71 today at $67! I have never seen this happen!! Love it!!

Mine is down a little more as well. I have a ressie for a compact that is down to $85 for 8 days and a midsize that is down to $91. These include the $4.50 service charge so that I can get the southwest credit. I am so thrilled with these low rates!

Unfortunately my Alamo reservation hasn't gone down any but when checking National, they are now the same price as National for our dates so we're back to National

My Alamo full-size from 5/18 - 5/26 is down to $95.

That's using ID7015820, Coupon code AD4027JDO and my Alamo Insider's member number.

It's free to join Insiders and you get your account number right away so you can start trolling for rates immediately.

Our minivan rental from Alamo is now down to $141 for May 17-23 at mco. $60 cheaper than I booked at National a couple of weeks ago!

when you go in to modify, it will show you the current reservation price and the modified price side by side, then you can choose "keep my original reservation" or "keep modified reservation". If the original reservation is better just select "keep my original reservation" or just back out of that screen. Easy!

Ugh, whenever I click on Modify and try to see the modified price it gives me an error in red at the top that says Credit Card CID cannot be blank and from what I can tell, nothing is blank so I have no idea what its talking about!

I just got that same error message. I ended up making a new ressie, and this one now says "This reservation has been secured by my MASTERCARD". I never noticed this on any of the other 10 reservations I have made and canceled over the last 2 weeks. Oh, and I'm down to $73.82 for standard size, May15-21 :cool1:

I got an economy car, just me and DH, for 10 days (May 19-28) for $144.29.
Is this a good deal or can it go lower? I got the $35 discount and another $13.50 discount and used Conract ID 5027112.
Have not had to rent a car in over 10 years, so I am out of practice, to say the least!

Color me thankful! :dance3: We booked our rental months ago with National for 5/25-6/5 and thought $275 was a good rate - Just checked after seeing this thread and it has dropped to $164!!!! Thank you!!!! :flower3:

I just checked my trip cost and Alamo at MCO May 15 - 22 is $65. At Sanford it's $198. Good thing I'm getting a great deal on my flight into Sanford.

Just picked up our Alamo rental around 8:00 pm at MCO. We ended up at $87.37 for 8 days for a full-size. We had tons of cars to pick from in the full size aisle from impalas to SUVs to minivans. We ended up taking a Ford Escape. We were thrilled with the selection!!!

I picked up at MCO yesterday at about 1:30. In the midsize row were 2 or 3 Chrysler mini-vans, tons of HHR's, one SUV. I got a VW Jetta that I'm pretty happy with. NOt bad for $80 for 8 days!

We used Alamo about 12 years ago and had a horrible experience. Had to take the bus from the airport and arrived with about 300 other people. Waited in line for over 4 hours. DH said never again.
But ready these posts, it sounds like the cheapest route. Please explain about the Insider's club and what it entails. I am guessing there is no waiting in line with this perk?
After seeing everyone jump on the Alamo bandwagon, I am thinking it must be a good deal, 'cause I know the Dis people are gonna scope out the best and most efficient car rental place, but I've gotta convince DH.:rolleyes1

HI - if you go on to the Alamo site, you will see an ad for the Insiders' Club - which sets you up to join their Insiders' Club - it does offer perks and discounts above/beyond what the general public is offered. Once you have joined, print out the letter with your club number (I always pack an extra copy with my number in case I need to show
it at the check out window), and then plug in the discounts ID's and coupons.

Hope this has helped.

No bus! If you sign up for the Insiders program, you go straight to the kiosk and print out your contract then walk across the street and pick out your car. Super easy and no hassles!

Dumb question....are the keys just in the car that you pick out? Sorry, it has been a while since we have picked up at airport, we have used DME or picked up at Dolphin.

Thanks!
