We all got up and started to do the single digit dance ...9 more days and I still have a ton of things to do .
11 for us and yes, still a ton of stuff left to do. One of the disadvantages of planning a surprise trip for me; but, things are coming together. Although looking at my checklist I would like to have more done; there are some things I had dated to complete around May 20th. I am behind on printing the invitations for our character meals and stuff. I was going to do it yesterday during dds last session with the reading specialist, but just as I was choosing a computer, an announcement came over the speaker that Learning with Legos was starting. My son heard it and that was it. We ended up in there instead. We do have to go back next week, but just to return some books; so, Im not sure when Ill get those printed. I may have to think of another way to reveal those activities.
I went over a lot of details yesterday. I work from home on Tuesdays and during each break I was checking over items that are going with us. I pulled most of the new stuff from the 3 different hiding places I had and put it all in one of our summer vacation boxes. We only started taking summer trips 4 years ago after dh passed (if he was able to travel he preferred either fall or spring) so we started a box where I keep things we generally need when we go away during the summer like hats, visors, misting fans, day bags and such. I took dds BBB gown out of the shipping container and put it way back in my walk-in closet for some hang time before it goes into the suitcase. I also started laying my sons clothes out in his room. But I do that each summer to take inventory and determine if I bought enough so it doesnt raise any suspicion.
I usually feel like a trip is approaching so slowly; but, it almost feels like this one is sneaking up on me. Almost. Probably the fact that it is so close to the end of the school year. Pretty sure the 2 days in between dd getting done with school on the 22nd, and the day before we leave (24th) when I tell the children about the trip, will feel like a snail took the controls.
